Ororo Munroe: Storm Appreciation 2020

I thought it was so whack he didn't actually show the fight. He had her be like 'I got this, go!' we have that one splash page, and then later she's in the Blackbird. Like, show us how she beat back the entire team! That scene was the most Carey ever used her and, she basically just stood there with a harpoon.

More interesting is that Cyclops seem to be effected by Havoks' power. Has it not been established that relatives can't hurt each other at that point?

They stagger each other in that fight, but obviously that plasma bolt to his chest didn't kill him, so I think it still works.

Has Storm ever lifted mjolnir?

cyclops and havel's powers didnt affect each other in that issue.

edit: rereading the issue it seems they could hurt each other but after that blast cyclops was up and fine.

wow! I literally lol’d as I just read through it. So many out of context presentments and flat out lies. I think this os probably even prior to Storm being confirmed omega. They can stay supremely pressed. I’ll have pancakes in honor of their struggle :).

I am not sure I want to see Storm introduced in the MCU with an asgardian connection, though this is likely just someone throwing out creative ways to intro her that people wouldn’t easily predict. I have 0 interest in hammer time and Wouldn’t be onboard with an intro like this. A cross over between her and Asgard and Stormcaster coming in to play would be awesome though. Thoughts on this MCU intro?

I think that would have been my IRL explanation for how John Romita Jr. drew N'Dare.
As their powers and abilities are passed down through the matrilineal lines, he might have erroneously thought that she was also had the same physical traits as her daughter Ororo, not realising the powers skips a generation or three.

In comic...
In the panels depicting the tragedy...N'Dare's hair is black but it also seems to be of a softer, straighter texture as it's rolled in bun...clearly Storm would have seen her mother with her hair loose and down...hence the apparition.

As he drew her in 193, Ororo does "resemble" her mother so...non-issue.

I personally think her being introduced with a hammer would dilute her mythos being worshipped as the weather goddess of Kenya. I say efforts should be made to fully introduce from the perspective of her origin without muddying up by tying it to another character. nevertheless, I agree this is mostly speculative and not based on any insider knowledge of how she will ultimately be introduced. it seems mostly click bait so ik not investing much thought in it.

Honestly, i'm willing to bet Stormcaster or Asgardian Storm is nothing, but a Cameo. But being included in the MCU I think it's going to be cool.

Bast was last seen with Zenzi the Revealer, so I wouldn't be surprised if Zenzi was the new ally. Especially since Bast is currently possessing Emperor N'Jadaka's daughter, who is [I][B]also[/B][/I] named Zenzi.

I want to see what part Storm will play in these final few issues.

I’m hoping its Storm too. We haven’t seen an interaction between them but she is an “outsider”, has divinity recognized by Wakanda and we haven’t seen them interact. I’d live for Bast to call in a return favor from Ororo for her aid in WAP.

This is my working theory, too. Considering what was last seen of both characters, this makes the most sense. At some point, I would like to see the other Orishas shown protecting Wakanda.

I would too boo but after reading nj06 post it seems the most likely person is zenzi. I would though love to see a callback to wap.

I just reread that BP issue and if you pay attention to zenzi face before seeing bast it appears she has a look of regret on her face, which seems shes having a change of heart.

I think you're right about the regret part, BK. I think she didn't realize the depth of what she was getting herself into or that N'Jadaka intended on destroying Wakanda and so much more. She never struck me as that level of a villain. As for Ororo and Bast, Coates hasn't done anything to link them in the BP storyline other than have Ororo comment a couple of times about them. Once, when T'Challa asked Ororo if she was a god and what she knew about them. Her only comment about Bast was that she "keep and open mind as to her nature." So, nothing really on the Ororo-Bast front.

It would make sense, though, as they both will defend Wakanda, for Ororo to come face-to-face with the real Bast. At the end of the arc, I'm sure Coates will restore Bast. What that will mean for the child, I'm unsure. N'Jadaka's wife is without her child, so the girl should be returned to the woman. Actually, it's really messed up how Bast has hijacked the poor girl's mind and body. It makes you wonder if the girl is aware she has been taken over.

I had another thought. Bast may have saved Zenzi from Ororo's attack. I wasn't sure, from the art, if Ororo killed everyone on N'Jadaka's ships except for him. That's the implication, with her shutting down life support. If that's the case, Zenzi should've died, too. But maybe Bast kept her alive.

I always thought she was a villain based upon bp&c and what we saw in BP but I agree with you. I think she wanted to change leadership of wakanda but not destroy it. I think that zenzi realizes that following njadaka would lead to the destruction of wakanda.

rain was really good. mya did an excellent job and I hope that mcu has ororo using her powers similarly in a creative way as opposed to just making wind and rain.
