this is one is the best charting one, so it's nice to see, that is all
Am I the only one who want a personality change for storm I think it’s time for a smart mouth ,badass storm, who tells it like it is instead of this passive back seat Mary Sue storm we have been getting lately, I want xtreme x-men storm back now that was a bad bi/$& who gave no f$&@s and shot bi$&@s in there chest lol
I definitely think that if Storm hadn't lost a lot of her "edge" in the last 15 years or so she'd be more interesting. This serene, Mother Earth portrayal makes her a lot less compelling than when she was more willing to take names and stab people through the heart. We get glimpses of that like in Marauders when she busted out that vibranium knife but Storm I think is getting too caught up in her own hype if you know what I mean.
She's as powerful as ever but all too often she can't make tough choices (see: IvX) or define what she wants the direction of her people to be. She lacks a compelling voice and a lot of the wit and audaciousness that made her popular to begin with. Hopefully this big story/arc the X-office has planned for her includes bringing some of that personality back.
this is one is the best charting one, so it's nice to see, that is all
It is but its too early to say its the best charting one as thats just for the week, not month. I dont think it'll stay at #5 when the Empyre and XoS stuff are thrown into the mix
Great to see this. Despite what others say people in the industry will take notice and that helps.
Looking at other comments I guess galactus sells thor, and jean, omega red etc must sell wolverine and selene must be selling cap right now, her and Sharon carter since they are always there. *Shrugs.*
that is the whole point of that initial post. storm charting that high shows the potential there. the idea that people are buying it because of everyone else in the book is a bit of a stretch to me especially when the cover the name only says storm.
and bingo! these solo books typically have other characters and its not just the feature character isolated from the greater mu.
The other GS issues did do well. Jean/Emma was #8 for its month, Nightcrawler was #23 , Magneto was #12, and Fantomex was #9. Nightcrawler didnt do as well but the rest were all comparable, hovering around Top 10 for total comics sold in a month
we will see where storm lands for the month but the fact she charted so high for the week is what is impressive and what shouldn't be discounted.
Turning Tchalla into a simp for Storm and then teasing a relationship with another women just for Storm to say its okay for her to keep him company when she's not around, only for her to die in one of the worst turncoat reveals of all time is not repairing. lol.
he didn't become a simp. he acknowledged where he messed up with their relationship and he worked to fix it. in regards to nakia he lost his memories of Ororo due to the galatic wakandan empire and fell for her. The complications regarding that were addressed by Ororo beung understanding and not threatened by said interactions. Nevertheless, she died in an explosion and is a non factor. Tchalla didn't save nakia name for the password of his warship, it was Ororo. So yea he did much to repair it from the mess that was AvX.
Lol. That WAS quick wasn't it. Try to celebrate Storm selling well and it immediately was sorta shit on. If this sold poorly, I highly doubt people would be saying it was because it featured Fantomex or Doug too much. We know who would probably get the "blame."
right?? now we know had it been revealed the title was a dud not even breaking the tp 20 it would have been said she can't support a book because she works better with a team.
I also was intrigued at how quick the news regarding that was downplayed. but i can't say I was surprised.

I'm not sure how you wanting a more mouthy Storm translates to Hickman not knowing how to write Storm.
All in all I don't think the story being told in giant size or her speech House of X called for a sassy Storm

so it was very subtle but when ororo was talking to Jean her eyes were blue but as soon a emma started talking slick her eyes went white. I think ororo was ready to give her them hands but then monet came in with a solution. I just love ororo doesn't f with emma. it makes my heart smile:

Yup I think she's beginning to suffer from the same unfair perception people have of Jean, that she's boring or can't add some levity to a book. Storm has as quick a tongue as Emma and arguably is more arrogant (even though she internalizes it) but her lack of personality as of late has tainted how many writers view her. Hickman would probably have a field day with X-Treme X-Men's Storm, not so much with IvX Storm. Maybe whenever she begins taking a more permanently prominent role we'll see her develop more.

Has she? I am genuinely asking. I dropped Marauders once Duggan thought Storm summoning lightning was her "stealing the show" back in 4 or 5. I wish Marauders featured more characters I liked such as Rogue, Gambit, Nightcrawler etc. Then I might be more inclined to stick with it. As it is, I find the plot lacking and full of too many characters I am indifferent to or just couldn't give a shit about.

What I’m saying is she barley gets moments to be sassy or have a attitude or cry or disagree or just get mad and blow away a city block storm has been to tame lately and has been a c list side character instead of a A list hero but this is my opinion if you like current storm good for u I just want a bit more layers.

honestly no its not a great book as it mostly centers around emma and kitty. ororo has had little moments but nothing to write home about. the reason I liked that particular moment is that it called back to her outback days when she didn't mind cutting a b*tch when she needed to but your decision to drop it i am totally aligned to. im curious to see how vita handles her in issue 13.

hmmm hmmm. the question is why do they not want to play wit some of these tidbits? for me especially the goddess part? vita's issue will reveal for me at least what they are willing to do. if there is no mention of her relationship to tchalla and no mention of her being a goddess that will be most telling that this is not what they wish to explore.

It probably just doesn’t fit there narrative at the moment but we’ll now for sure when Marauders#13 comes out

The franchise is not called Storm and the X-men. Or, Storm-Men. Or, S-Men. She doesn't have a solo book where that one writer can focus on her sassy, Goddess-Queen thief martial-artist qualities...not even Claremont gave us all of that continuously.
The X-writers are writing many other characters in addition to Storm. Those writers who are writing her...Duggan in Marauders, HiX-Man sporadically in X-Men still have to write a balanced story involving other characters along side Storm. And again, unless the story particularly calls for her to be centre stage then she's not going to be the driving and dominant voice some of you desperately need.

Honestly, they should have just done an ongoing/mini with Storm and BP if they wanted to promote them as a couple. If lookback at Coates handling of Storm in BP, he wrote her great but can we really say that he wrote them as a couple? They were together sure but what did he have them doing? Did they go out to restaurants or travel together?
I'm not advocating them getting back together but if that's what I intended to do, then I'd have them a lot more connected outside of one book and show everyone that they're a loving couple.

hey boo
your idea would hsve been great had the xoffices wanted it. they didn't and thats why we saw all of their interaction in the bp books and not the xbooks. in fact as costes was working to rebuild their relationship Guggenheim was purposefully writing 180 degree different stories to undermine what coates was doing.
Settle down bub, no one is diminishing storms anything. Yes storm was on the book so was her name but this was also an X-Men book, her light and potential will come down to a writer that decides to pick the character up as a "solo" act until then i suggest keeping ground level expectations. This little story she had was okay at best but it's noting to brag about storm or not, Don't take this personal. I feel some of yall get your hopes higher than a diabetics blood pressure, we're adults right, so you shouldn't be heated about criticism and there was nothing "sad" about what was said a while ago i'm sure you can handle a couple little gripes about one comic book. Let's not be bias here.
Who's heated or taking it personal? It seems like you are cause you're doing exactly what I said you're doing. Doesn't matter if she had a small amount of story in the book. Nobody knew that until they bought the book right? So yeah like I said most of them picked it up because of her. Enjoy your day

so I know this doesn't really answer your question or maybe it will but we do know she is a bigger God than adversary who has been charged a universal/multiversal threat. this aspect of her abilities could explain beyond her willpower why she was able to contain the consciousness of eternity within her nevertheless, i agree this is something that definitely needs further exploration. especially relative to the existing heroes/gods with the mu.
on another note: annihilation is mentioned as the god of amenth. what if somehow she is linked as being an ancestor to ororo? maybe this connection is what sees her potentially "dancing" with death on the marauders cover?

lololol chile I think they had to step it up on the thor front when ororo was announced a real goddess lol. at any rate it would be cool to see these two discuss her coming to terms to divinity and what that would mean for her moving forward. he cold maybe teach her some things about her abilities she is unaware she can do.
