Tell me about it. The Dark Phoenix Movie thread popped back up and I forgot how much I hated that movie. Fox really did do an awful job a translate great stories to the cinematic world.
And to think that when the Disney buyout of Fox was first reported here, there was an intense fan division between those who wanted the X-Men to join the MCU versus the FoX-Men (or FauX-Men as I like to call them) loyalists. It's not a surprise that I don't remember any Storm fans who wanted the X-Men to stay with Fox.
I mostly agree with this. However, I don't want a light skinned Ororo. She should be dark skinned or medium but definitely not light brown. And YES, blue eyes finally. That is such a distinguishing feature of hers, alongside her white hair, but the films have always ignored that. And none of those ghastly wigs that Halle Berry used to wear.
I've always liked Naomie Harris as an actress and feel she is grossly underrated and would be interested to see her as Ororo. She's already played an elemental goddess as Tia Dalma before in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
I like Gugu Mbatha-Raw a lot as an actress but this is a case where I would say that she is too light skinned for the role.
Is anyone here familiar with Aja Naomi King from How to Get Away With Murder? She is super talented, has worked with the queen Viola Davis herself (and also Kerry Washington), and has the look I could see Ororo with.
I agree. I don't mind dark skinned but I think Storm should be a brown skinned woman like Janet, Jada, or Aaliyah. Darkest i'd like is Kelly Rowland or Naomi Campbell but no darker. I've always wondered if hollywood would have an issue with a black woman having blue eyes which is why they have yet to get Storm blue eyes. I don't appreciate it.

I agree with that. As much as I love Zoe Kravitz, she would be way too light-skinned for this role. I'm not sure why Hollywood would have issues with black woman having blue eyes but I suppose they do get weird about certain things. In this case it would be contacts anyway most likely so I'm not sure why that would rub people the wrong way.

I hope all this talk of a solo movie materializes into one:

Storm, having to deal with Shadow king would honestly be best concept to go with.
With all his telepathic attacks,we can get cool back story and scene that one just may not have time for.
Their duality of Goddess and Devil/Demon.
I would hope for another set of villians, (something for her to punch.) Maybe 'Aim' or something like that.
Also maybe show off her skills a master theift , taking something or someone from 'Aim'..
Strangely I feel if she would get a Solo movie I feel it would have the Greg Pak vibe

If Black Panther can get one after appearing in Civil War, Storm can get one after appearing in Black Panther. I hope T'Challa fans are ready to root for Ororo's solo film and support her since I know they have often been jealous of her.

I don't think that's true at all considering how Black Panther has had more solo material out than Storm for a long time. Even if he didn't light up the charts he still had his own world. But it goes without saying that black women and especially black female comic fans showed up for Black Panther and as a T'Challa fan it was nice to see support for the character especially when we know there were others who wanted it to fail. Now part of that may have just been hoping Storm appeared later (lol) but the black solidarity behind T'Challa should also be there for Storm. She has the most breakout potential of the X-Men and adds a whole new layer to the mutant narrative if done correctly. Give her a trilogy with Shadow King, the Savage Land, and the Brood and I'm set.

Characters like Ant-Man and the Guardians of the Galaxy got their own films and even if Ant-Man was a solo hero and had his own world and supporting cast, he's not really that popular in the comics. So if these properties can get their own films, I can't see why a major character like Storm couldn't, especially tied into Black Panther. People have been asking for Shuri spinoff films so if Captain America: Civil War was basically both a Captain America and Iron Man film, a Storm film could be a Storm AND Black Panther film if they are really that worried that Storm alone will not sell. We are finally getting female solo films and it would be groundbreaking to have a black female solo film (you know, that isn't Catwoman. It's almost hard to feel bad for Halle Berry when you consider the superhero roles she's picked). I know some T'Challa fans were resentful of Storm and claimed their character was better off without her and that she has never done anything good for him so I hope they do not bring this mentality in the MCU when she appears. I very much want to see Storm's origin in flashbacks in the first film and a young Ororo meeting a young T'Challa like in the comics.

Ant-Man has always been pretty pitiful in the comics so no disagreements there. Black Panther on the other hand had over 100 solo issues to his name before his movie dropped so while his relevance pre-MCU is debatable, the extent to which Marvel invested in him and his world isn't. Especially when compared to black characters that have been around for similar stretches of time. Either way I'm one of those who thinks T'Challa is better off without Storm but I'll wholeheartedly support her film (if it were to ever get made), because I like to see strong black characters no matter who their love interest is. If they pair them up I'm fine, if not that's cool too. I don't think she fits into T'Challa's world as well as Nakia but if Coogler and whoever does the Storm trilogy tells a good story, I can't say I'll complain since I think the relationship was decent enough in the comics. If Storm has a breakout appearance in X-Men I don't think she'll need the bump from T'Challa in her own film but it wouldn't hurt in all honesty.

With the expectation that MCUStorm would be introduced via a BLACK PANTHER sequel, I hope they swerve and sneak her into Taika Watiti’s THOR:LOVE&THUNDER
