The trick of it is WK sells Vb to Shield, Stark, and other places on their trusted list. Their the ones who lose or misuse it. That's when the team gets sent in.
So outside parties ever really owns it, it's a long term lease. Lol.
Another example would be when Txhalla and Storm gave away advanced prosthetics to those on need. If a group of raiders came and stole them, the team would be sent to handle it.
Shield gets taken over every week. They would be terrible lol. But I get what your saying. That would be good stuff. A strike team of the best hand-picked wakandan warriors

Thats what makes it fun. The recovery missions post Dark Reign and Secret Empire would be epic. lol.
In EoS 2, it was T'Challa that made the modifications to the negato pack used against IronMan. Not anyone esle.
I am pretty sure T'Challa was credited with creating his own standard gear. Not anyone else.
He was the brains and brawn in the Priest run.
His suit wasn't confirmed to be made by T'challa until Rise of the Black Panther. I would love you to prove me wrong though (seriously, I have no problem learning/being reminded lol).
The cool? fun? thing about Priest's writing is that he does it in a way where you assume T'challa did stuff but a lot of times it wasn't stated by Tchalla or it was never shown he did it.
Like the Negator pack thing. Fake Iron Man said T'challa modified it. Not t'challa... he didn't say a word. It is confirmed T'challa stole it but never that he actually modified it himself. so did T'challa actually sit down and do it himself? Or was it has Wakanda Science Team at his discretion. Very similar to the "trapping mephisto" thing. T'challa has (had?) a team.
Could he have? of course, he's a polymath genius. But a lot of stuff T'challa had or used could have easily been done by "Wakanda."

Maybe if he ever fought Aunt May...naw it would still be an off panel victory. :(

Pre-Hudlin you could indirectly give pretty much all the credit for any Wakandan tech to T'Challa, since he was the reason Wakanda was technologically advanced in the first place. So even if T'Challa himself didn't personally build something (which was probably the case in a lot of instances as I'm sure a man as busy as him would deletage a lot of stuff) he's the very foundation of all their technology anyways so it still comes back to him.
Hudlin retonning Wakanda to always be advanced somewhat muddies the waters. Unless the book specificaly states something was designed by TChalla, we don't know if something was made by him or it was around when he was still in diapers. Shuri likely is going to take a pretty descent slice of the pie herself moving foreward.
Point being during the Priest era and prior to that, all the credit could at least indirectly go to T'Challa regardless of whether he was credited on panel or not. Now the water is a lot muddier in this regard. If it doesn't say on panel we just don't know.

Not sure if I'm collecting Empyre yet, has anyone got eyes on it. I peeped some comments on it from the other thread about #0 Empyre and most of the commentary involving The Avengers had no mention of T'challa. I'm already triggered with how most of the images coming out really push BP to side chick status. Don't care about legacy privilege given to Captain America and Iron Man. If Black Panther's the leader of the current team the expectation is he is shown prominently on things involving The Avengers.

The Avengers #0 is about Iron Man.

It was a gorgeous book, but definitely don't but it for BP.

At the very least, the standard tech T'Challa uses and tertiary gear should be of his own creation. Other things can be delegated, Because its HIS hear that he's using for himself

Which is a problem considering he's the leader of the avengers. He should have a presence at least. His role isn't to provide redshirts to show how"dangerous" the enemy is

Why don't Wakandans have surnames? Wouldn't that cause mass confusion in the Wakandan public school system? Wouldn't the cause mass confusion in the Wakandan Military?

Really I think Iron Man was the only one who had any particular focus. So yeah ... if that's a deal breaker for an Avengers book, give this a pass.
That issue aside, I think it was a pretty good 0 book. Ewing knows how to write an Avengery book. Ewing captures that naustalgic vibe perhaps better than anyone since Busiek.
But that's what makes them useful. My primary concern for Tchalla is Wakanda. If Cannan, Azania, or Kenya get destroyed instead of Wakanda, I won't complain. And it's an economic protectorate. Most likely providing infrastructure and low interest loans. He wouldn't be in charge of anything.
That's not how the narrative tends to work though. Whenever bad shit happens to Wakanda T'Challa gets blamed. If Canaanites start dying or Kenya gets obliterated it's on him. He can protect Wakandan economic assets without having "protectorates" which tends to be a polite way of saying colony, a concept completely antithetical to how T'Challa and Wakanda operate. Either way it'd be nice to explore Wakanda's neighbors more.

Because it's fiction and it makes them more distinct from the outside world.
