He’s not quite there yet. He has a lot of anger issues to deal with first. Maybe put him through a wall or throw him clear across town instead.
I can see the Mister Miyagi thing with Kreese at the end of the first movie kind of thing. Actually, come to think of it, this show has a bit of the spirit and feel of that first Karate Kid movie. I like it.

That may be satisfying.
Or the strongest move might be for Rick just finally walking away from his step-dad forever, and starting a new "family" .
Now that Rick's seen what Pat is made of, and what he can achieve, on a personal level Rick and Pat might finally get his dad's Mustang up and running again, could be the symbolic bond to bring them together.
And yeah although things didn't go their way Hourman had some great scenes this episode.

This episode was shot beautifully. Hugely cinematic.
That fight between Courtney and Shiv was riveting.

I've been sold on Stargirl and Shiv as archenemies .

I'm with ya, there.

Who was the guy with the sword who saved Courtney? The Shining Knight? Shiv is playing the part perfectly. Spoiled little ........

Wow. And what about Pat's actual son, Mike, who's already feeling neglected by his dad?
-
May I also add, I'd like to see the secrecy angle in the family be dealt with quickly. There's nothing creepier than when stepfather and stepdaughter keep secrets from mom.

Why is that creepy, exactly?

I mean, I don't think Pat is intentionally ignoring Mike and Rick is honestly in a really bad place emotionally, still.

I don't think it's creepy, but it's definitely a problem and we've seen Pat wants to tell Barbara but Courtney nixed it.
-
Telling Barbara and Mike would take away half the fun at this point. Mike wouldn't even be able to keep the secret.

I thought it was a really good intro to Shining Knight. It could easily have gone wrong, but they did it very well. As for the villains, well, they've always been a highlight of the show, so it's no surprise about how well they did with the character of Shiv.
