I remember Bendis feeling broken hearted over him killing Janet and no one thinking too much about her so yes, thereīs definitely editors and writers personal feelings over the characters working as well, Steve Englehart liked Wanda a lot and in part is thanks to him she and Vision got a series after they were married, the same series Wandavision is taking inspiration from so yes, imo Wanda needs new stories that help advance her character and of course a writer thatīs willing to do the reasearch about her.
Problem is, there are writers who like writing Wanda (even Kelly Thompson said she liked writing her in the Star mini that was Wanda's only decent appearance in 2020). They're just not being assigned to write her, even in stories like "Empyre" that she should, by all the logic of history and continuity, be in.
Sometimes characters go through these bizarre periods of limbo for reasons nobody can explain, like back in the early days of the Inhumans blitz, Crystal was almost totally absent, to the point that fans thought she's been killed off. Then suddenly she was there again. Why weren't they using Crystal? Nobody knows except the editors and maybe not even them.
Comics are often behind the time because they often hire writers who are fans of stories 40 years ago. Hickman’s X-Men has been amazing though and current. Back to Wanda, the movies and now the television have made her a major character and the comics are way behind.
40 years ago, Wanda was a major Avenger though, so I don't know about that. The comics aren't way behind when it came to repairing Cap by making his Nazi version a different person entirely. They just pick and choose. They also made Tony redeemed right after Civil War. But are the ones that left Carol up to Claremont to fix. I don't think it's a behind the times thing. I think they just don't want the character in much.

The push for inhumans was around the fight with Fox so imo Crystal probably was left out given her close relationship with Pietro, who had some nice scenes if not a character arc by Fox and Luna, their daughter, was completely taken out of comics except from some cameos on the Future Foundation comics.I agree the sitation behind curtains is hard to explain, maybe even by them but we have to remember they plan for three years in advance so we are probably seeing just the beggining of the plans marvel developed for Wandaīs series but those were pushed off because the series itself was pushed off, thereīs not reason either for marvel to take off Darkhold yet they still did, maybe because Darkhold had some spoilers from the series imo.
-
I have my doubts that it being held off had anything to do with the show. Because they did bother to put Wanda on the cover instead of Doom, and it was still gonna be released. Then Covid hit and it got pushed. So I think they just felt it was not a priority when cutting titles because of the shut down at the time.
Also, they put Steve Orlando on a couple other books, so it's likely that Darkhold just got canned.
-
Feige and Olsen have been saying they plan to give MCU Wanda her comcis background, that means talking about magic, Wundagore and maybe Chton, so far we have only seen Agatha but I could see them tackling those events if not in this first series the on Dr Strange. Orlando said he hoped his first work with marvel would be still out so I could see marvel still taking it out as a novel or maybe a new take on the story. A shame because I was really hopping to see Orlando take on Wanda.
-
WandaVision is probably the only MCU project that wasn't delayed much from its original date, though. Pre-COVID it was intended to start around the end of 2020. It was moved up because it was closer to being finished than Falcon/Winter Soldier - which, of course, did get a tie in comic while WandaVision didn't.
Now granted, Bucky and Sam also aren't being used much, especially Sam, who has been pretty much nowhere since he stopped being Captain America in the comics. They only got the mini because there was no existing material of them teaming up that Marvel could reprint, unlike with Wanda and Vision. But it's still weird that they're the only MCU characters appearing nowhere in comics.
-
I think they'll just keep pretending it was never a thing. WandaVision is 6 episodes. So they'd have some idea how it ends at the end of February and still have nothing lined up for March. So not holding my breath on anything.

Thank you Juan :)
Well I will wait and see at least the Strange title dedicated a cover for her and hopefully the story of that issue is dedicated to her.

I wish they actually mean the Wundagore origin, but again Olsen for the most part doesn't even know what she is talking about in terms of comics.
Feige is just super vague about it.
And I don't remember Nights of Wundagore or any other piece involving Chthon getting mentioned. Of course I would hope so and want to be pleasantly surprised, but it's not that promising.

The Darkhold book was mentioned on Agents of Shield, I know that series is not sure to still be part of the MCU but itīs not far fetched for it to be mentioned again in relation to Wanda, especially since Kevin Feige said Wanda would earn her name "Scarlet Witch" at the end of the series between this and Agatha becoming part of her story, I think they were serious about using her comics background, I hope they also bring Pietro back at some point, hopefully with Crystal and Luna :)

Honestly I would prefer them ditch the AoS Darkhold for a new one. Because seriously, who designed this look for the book?(Like putting the Darkhold title into the book cover...)It looks like a stylish notebook for teens than an actual Elderitch tome.
-
Storywise the Darkhold in AoS was nothing like the main universe either. I'd like for all of that to be abandoned. And I think it will be, because that was all handled by Loeb's group and all that was dissolved when Loeb left, and Feige took over Perlmutter's control of that part of the company.
I hope it's closer to the main universe instead.

They probably did that to take out the mystery as it could have been seen as just another magical book, either way itīs out there ready to be referenced at any point in time.

If they link it how comics linked it, it could end up being why Blade is a thing. Since Chthon had created witches, werewolves and vampires.
