I wish that Jessica Drew was featured more in Spider-Man's world. Such a wasted opportunity that Nick Lowe decided to allow Slott to create Silk and Spider-Gwen instead of introducing Jessica to the ASM readers. All of Jessica's team up had both Silk and Spider-Gwen. But not Peter Parker. So dumb of Marvel not knowing that girls buy ASM than Spider-Woman.
Jessica has never really been a Spider-Man character until recently. Before Spider-Verse, she was part of the Avengers office. That's why she has two appreciation threads here, this one and another in the general Marvel section.

I wished that Editor Nick Lowe had featured Jessica Drew in ASM (vol.3) instead of Silk. This would had introduced the ASM readers to the character, which included the female readers. IMO, there was no need to create two additional Spider-Women(Silk and Spider-Gwen) if the priority was for Jessica Drew to shine. I liked the idea of non Spider-Man created characters become a part of Peter's supporting cast. What might had been a cool opportunity was to have seen Felicia Hardy(Queenpin) vs Jessica Drew. Otherwise known as Hardy & Drew. A missed opportunity to make The Black Cat as part of Jessica's rogues...
Apparently Black Cat was originally created to BE one of Jessica's rogues back in the early 80s, but then the creators heard Spider-Woman was being cancelled and moved Felicia to Parker's rogue gallery instead.
The more you know.

Felicia debuted about 4 years before Jessica's comic was cancelled though (Ended in 83, Felicia debuted in 79).

It seems the bigger thing was Marv Wolfman leaving the title with the 8th issue, published a few months before Black Cat's debut.
Then maybe it was because the creative team was moving to another book? I'll have to go back and re-read where I found that info

Marv should had brought in Jessica into Spidey's world as a reoccurring guest. Even during the time when Jess lost her powers, she could have still been an ally to Peter and Julia Carpenter when she was Spider Woman for a time.

She was moved to ASM by the writer, Marv Wolfman. He left SW and took Black Cat with him. But, really, she would have been an entirely different character there. She wouldn't have been a leotard-clad, acrobat with bad luck powers. I think Cockrum came up with the design for Spider-Man. As far as I know, nothing on paper existed for the character in Spider-Woman outside of a cover -- which only showed the silhouette of a cat.

Things do change from the initial idea. For all we know the current Black Cat could still fit into the pages of Spider-Woman. It's too bad that Hopeless never used her in his run as the Queen Pin would had made things interesting for Jessica...
He probably didn't use her because Robbie Thompson was using Black Cat in Silk. I'm bummed Jess didn't have a bigger role in Secret Empire given her Hydra roots and all. But looking back, that was probably for the best.
Better than Silk at least. We didn't see her, but Cindy was probably a brainwashed agent of HYDRA, because she was in SHIELD. :(
I remember the comicbook character Jessica Drew being a brainwashed agent of HYDRA once.
That she was.
