I liked Franklin’s little speech at the end, but the conclusion made this whole mini seem pointless. He’s basically taking after school classes in Krakoa so nobody had to be this pressed.
It's nonsense because he was barely a character in this mini outside the first and last issues. At best, he was the narrator at the end of every kid show giving the moral of the story.
Hopefully we can finally get a story with a teenage Franklin that doesn't revolve around his power and his emo angst over his powers. It limits any storytelling potential he has. Louise Simonson did this better in the 80s.
Has anyone ever gone after the High Evolutionary for his technology that can erase the X-Gene?
He is a villain and also if I remember correctly, Viv Vision left him trapped in another dimension.
It shouldn't surprise us when villains have that kind of technology. When a hero has it, well, it's problematic.

Wow didn't take long for people to start defending the indefensible. So as long as professor x/magneto/mutants(by extension) feel justified they can just violate a persons liberty? Ah OK, that won't lead to any adverse consequences which could have been completely avoided.
Standard power dampeners work on mutants. When you're making specific technology for the mutant gene, that's when it's problematic.
If Standard power dampeners work on mutants what would make mutant specific technology any different?
Beautifully done though right here.
I love this.

Reed and Doom got checked in this issue lol!
And rightfully so.
...yeah, that's pretty stupid and immoral of Xavier.
As pointed out, the X-Men really just wanted Franklin as a big gun.
Also, Reed could probably make about twenty different ways to remove the X-gene.
At worst, all this does is force Reed to make a machine that removes telepathic manipulation, fix himself, and then just recreate the devise.
And, finally, why aren't there telepathic dampeners in the FF residence as a matter of course?

This! Nice cold logic, feels good man!

Reed tampering with the x-gene was way too far.
He deserved what he got. *shrugs*
Kitty's new heavy density powers could be cool. That's how they worked in the Ultimate Universe
And unlike Vision she should now be able to make other people dense as a diamond through physical contact, the way she can phase other people with her
I'm excited to see how they will play with this whenever she gets back. :o
And, finally, why aren't there telepathic dampeners in the FF residence as a matter of course?
That's because they're good people that don't expect their friends to mindrape them.
If Standard power dampeners work on mutants what would make mutant specific technology any different?
Because a power dampener is temporary, what Reed has done could rewrite a mutant's genome to be forever. If someone were affected by that technology, then that mutant would have to commit suicide and be resurrected by the Five to regain their powers. And it would be Reed's fault.

Nothing stupid or immoral about it, Xavier saw a threatening device and destroying it was NOT the sole and main goal here, clearly.
The speech he gave was what he wanted to get across to Reed Richards, no matter what devices he has in mind to create, Charles was warning him.
Simple.
It was immoral of Reed to invade Franklin like that, son or not.

LoL did you even read the story. He never tampered with the X-Gene, he just made a device that hid it. No genetic modification required.

Exactly, People are drooling to paint Xavier as this super big bad when in reality he's not supposed to be passive when trying to preserve his race.
This is survival and Reed presented a threatening red flag that needed to be addressed.

So...he in SOME form or fashion PLAYED with and/or around the x-gene?
Gotcha.
He was wrong.

Reed has been doing too much messed up stuff, he had it coming. It's like Forge's power dampening devices. People are going to weaponized it, especially considering how he handles his tech (Orchis says hello).
Reed and Stark have done so much crazy stuff without paying any consequences in the past with their tech. And this tech could also be used to completely erase the mutant gene. It had to go.
