Just a cute pic or teasing something? Voicing Diana in her game? Or maybe something else?

Anyone else remembers when Morena Baccarin seemed to be the internet's favorite casting dream for Wonder Woman? I think it was during the time when Joss Whedon was rumoured (eventually confirmed) to direct a WW movie (we all dodged a bullet!). I hope that whomever ends up doing the movie affects an accent. I think Diana, an amazon princess from an otherwordly island hidden from the world by magic, should NOT speak "perfect" English. WB choosing an actress with an accent to play DIana was one of the best decisions they made (in my opinion).

She's voiced DC characters in the past but so far I think it's just a joke she's making.
I don't have an opinion on the accent either way. It makes sense that she would have one, but it never bothered me when she didn't.
My only concern is making actresses force an accent they can't do. If the actress actually has one, like Gal Gadot, cool. But if she doesn't and can't do one, don't bother. I've noticed some attempts to copy Gal's accent sound like the actress is impersonating Dracula.

I love Morena Baccarin so I'm cool with her voicing Diana, but given how strong Hippolyta's accent was, having Diana lack one could be jarring unless she dials it in/out depending on who she's talking to?

Wasn't around for that stuff but wouldn't be surprised. I think she first got attention on Firefly, so not surprised nerds wanted her in Whedon's WW film. :p
Amusingly if she is Diana in the game, she also voiced Cheetah (Priscilla) in The Brave and The Bold.

Unless you go with that she lost the accent from being in Man's World for so long.

You said that and I immediately thought of Connie Nielson? or whomever voicing the teaser for the WW video game. It's too thick and gutteral to sound natural and not overly theatrical. An accent is fine but not that heavy.
Do people here realize that there are many, many people who speak multiple languages flawlessly, without accent. I don't see why Wondy should have one or whether she should. It shouldn't make a difference who they cast to speak whether there is an accent or not.
If Diana is as awesome as we think she is, very smart, capable, wisdom of Athena and other godly gifts, wouldn't it stand to reason that that is a good enough an argument if she doesn't have an accent. It isn't a deal breaker for me, just not have her fly is :)
Accent makes sense for WWs who have only recently arrived in Man’s World in the modern era. For takes like Gadot’s where she’s been in America or whatever for over 100 years it really doesn’t make sense for her to still have it. At least in my opinion.

Yeah, that's kind of how she's been portrayed so it's not too weird, but I do think if her mother has such a strong one, a comment from her about how she's lost her accent from being in man's world would help those shocked by the disconnect.
I know I and a lot of my friends, all of which speak different languages, have no particular accent when speaking English but do when speaking other languages. I generally imagine Diana does the same.
That said, Gal Gadot is this generation's touchstone for Diana, so I think they imagine her with an accent. Perhaps a light one is the best way to split the difference.
Can somebody post the image of the comic from Pre Crisis where the Gods give Diana her powers? I have been searching for that image for a while.

Are you talking about this one from Wonder Woman #105 by Robert Kanigher?

Well, speaking accented English is not a "flaw." :) (Or some sort of problem/defect/shortcoming.)
Well, speaking accented English is not a "flaw." :) (Or some sort of problem/defect/shortcoming.)
Never said it was, even though most people would know what I meant by flawless. Since you seem to be words 'lawyering' me, I should say 'accentless'.
Better? :)
Well, speaking accented English is not a "flaw." :) (Or some sort of problem/defect/shortcoming.)
Lol right. Not to mention that there is no reason why Diana would try to lose or hide her accent that she naturally would have unless she's trying to fit into America. If American English isnt someones first language and they havent lived in the US for that long they likely have an accent and probably can just fake not having one.
Lord...go on twitter and it's an all out battle between Snyder fanboys and WW fans. They are trying to credit WWs game and current success all to Snyder.

Saw some of that. I feel for the Supes fans upset their boy still hasn't gotten a good video game yet, I was the same way when Superman and Batman got their latest cartoons and Wonder Woman got that Injustice animated movie. :p
The Snyder fans acting like Wonder Woman was created in 2016 can go pound sand on Apokolips, lol.

Give it long enough and they'll say he created Superman. There's a reason they're referred to as "The Snyder Cult."

Yes. Thank you.
By the way. Can anybody here answer me when superman's powers working as a solar batery were introduced. And when was the holding back concept started? Because i'm sure that all of those things were introduced after SM's first era in the comics. Yet there is somebody telling me that SM has been limitless in his power potential and holding back since his very first era in the comics. I don't remember that being the case. But maybe somebody that has studied SM's catalogue more than me can confirm this. All of this is part of a conversation i had with somebody when we discussed that WW shouldn't be treated as helpless against SM. I remember that Marston never said that WW's power had limits. And i remember he said WW was created to be as strong as SM. Yet this person insists SM's power was stated limitless solar batery potential by his creators and WW wasn't. It's been a long time since i checked comics from more than 70 years ago. So if anybody can hell i will appreciate it.

By Twitter logic, does this mean Snyder is also responsible for the Superman video game fans still don't have? :p

I’d be happy to swap MAWS for a game with you :p
I can understand being salty but
1. I’d be more mad at SS using Metropolis to shill Harley
2. If Monolith is making WW it’s because they chose her. I don’t want anyone making a Superman game who doesn’t want to be making one, I’m done with the Dinis and the Timms of the world handling him
3. She’s been as screwed over as he has and if they nail her gameplay mechanics guess what? They can use those to build a game for him later on
4. There’s still the WB Montreal game that’s in dev. Maybe it will be him.
And yes those twats are annoying. Still I think next Fandome we may both get what we are still wanting. You guys might get a cartoon announcement and we might get a video game announcement. For now we both have a lot to look forward to. GL franchise are the ones who really are treated terribly lol

I lived in ignorant bliss of most of this since I only started going on there recently to follow Jimenez and others for WW updates.
I thought people like you and Vordan were kidding with how much people hang on to his shots like they're rediscovered DaVinci paintings or Shakespeare plays. :p

I wouldn't trade MAWS for anything. It's great that we're getting a new Superman cartoon.
At the very least the fact that she's getting a game is going to do wonders for her public recognition (especially from a studio of good pedigree) and makes the chances of a cartoon even more likely now than it was before.

I'd rather we just leave any Snyder vs anti-Snyder discussion out of this. We have a WW game. If people like or dislike Snyder, it really doesn't matter. It isn't like everyone doesn't try to credit one single creator for a character's success anyway.

I have seen it and it's not the first time they do this kind of #$%@. lol After Snyder's first two DCEU films (MOS and BvS) got horrible reviews and terrible word of mouth (which led to awful box office multipliers), Wonder Woman came out and became the DCEU's first unqualified success (amazing reviews, and extraordinary word of mouth, which led to a fantastic box office multiplier/total). The so-called Snydercult attributed WW's success to Snyder (because he had a "story by" and "producer" credit in Patty Jenkins' film. To this day I still see Snyder fans on Twitter claiming that Jenkins "couldn't possibly" have directed WW and that Snyder ghost-directed it. WTF It's just Snyder fans being deluded and clueless. Of course, despite the fact that WW84 also had a "produced by Zack Snyder" credit, Snyderfans have not claimed that movie as Snyder's. How convenient, eh? Then again it doesn't surprise me; his fans always blame WB and many other reasos (never Snyder) for the Snyderverse's failure and for his movies being bad. When a Snyderproduced-and-helmed DCEU film flops, blame the studio. But when a DCEU film that Snyder produced but did not direct succeeds, give Snyder all the credit. :D

A person crediting one creator for a character's recent success isn't really anything newsworthy. It really isn't worth commenting on except to stir up drama.
Who said it has to be newsworthy? This is just a discussion forum. People are free to post whatever is on their mind (whether they are pro or anti Snyder) as long said post doesn't involve harassment or bigotry.
I literally just read a post in one of those pro-Snyder/anti-every-other-director-not-named-Snyder Facebook groups that read: "The Wonder Woman that everyone loves now was envisioned by Snyder and introduced by him in BvS, he also wrote the screenplay for the first Wonder Woman film; if you are happy that she finally got her own solo game, thank Zack Snyder for making her relevant."
This is the level of delusion that so many Snyder fans have. They totally disregard what Jenkins, Gal Gadot and Allan Heinberg did in the first film; to them, Snyder is the creator, period (I am surprised they have not claimed that Marston's real last name was Snyder and that he is an ancestor of Zack's)... :D

Have to admit, as much as I loathe that New 52 panel of "when I deal with them, I deal with them!". I get something of a kick of Snyder fans spamming when they want to go "Wonder Woman does what needs to be done!' that given the author of that (Johns) is the Anti-Christ of the Snyder movement.
I really hope WW gets a bit of a redesign before Task Force X game comes out. Seems a bit clunky and underdeveloped.

At least she looks better in her actual game.
I see that game fell into the "Diana needs a braid to be practical" school of thinking. Because everything else about her and all her contemporaries isn't impractical at all. Superman with no mask maintaining a secret ID? Hey, that's Superman. But god forbid Diana lets her hair down. No sir.
She's as strong as him? Well, sure. We're progressive... But she is a warrior so she needs a BIG CHUNKY, CLUNKY ARMOR SET! There you go. Nothing says "as strong as Superman" as "big chonky armor."
I know she may not be as strong as Clark in the game (especially since it looks like Clark's about to effortlessly kick her off of him), but goddamn. Take a lesson from barbarians in sword and sorcery if everyone is so obsessed with turning her into Xena:
"When a character wears armor, it says that they need it."
Diana's costume always looks like light armor because it is. She doesn't need plate.
At least she looks better in her actual game.
I have to wonder who in the video games division of ATT/WB hates the Flash given how many terrible costume designs he's had in adaptations between this, Injustice, and the DCEU.
