Wonder Woman #5 was in the top 20 of the month, at the same place as the last issue. Pretty impressive, considering there's a bunch of new top-selling books.

I think I agree with your S and A tier, but I still wouldn't put DeConnick in S simply because it is an Elseworld (as in I wouldn't include Elseworld only creators).

If you want bigger images, upload your picture to a separate hosting site (I use imgur). Then when posting here in the Insert Image function go to the "From URL" tab and unclick the checked box that says "Retrieve Remote File and Reference Locally". Then put the URL address of your picture from the separate hosting site into the tab.

Marvel and DC are reprinting the Marvel/DC crossovers and Amalgam comics across two omnibuses, will include Marvel and DC Present Featuring the Uncanny X-Men and the New Teen Titans, Bullets and Bracelets and possibly Amazon.

I don't know why DC leaves good titles collecting dust.
Bullets and Bracelets - good name for a WW title.
Amazon - simple but effective (better than Amazons Attack)
Immortal Wonder Woman - nuff said

You know...Diana really got screwed over by the Amalgam gimmick.
I commented in a different thread that Amazon isn't really a combination of Wonder Woman and Storm. She's "what if Ororo was raised on Themyscira and became Wonder Woman instead," leaving Diana to be a jealous, petty bitch about it.
Steve, meanwhile, is fused with Punisher, which...okay, I guess.
But Diana isn't combined with anyone. She's not an amalgam of herself and another Marvel character. She's just a superfluous, extra wheel with no gimmick.
Yeah, I think I'd rather leave Amalgam in the past.
EDIT:
Funnily enough, I tried searching some wikis, and Amalgam Diana is described as a combination of Diana and.........Artemis.
They're both DC characters!!! That defeats the whole purpose!
I know most writers never care about Wonder Woman, but holy hell, what were they smoking in the 90s?

Steve and Punisher amalgamation? Ew.
Should have been Steve and Ms.Marvel (Carol Danvers). They have way more in common.

I don't think DC/Marvel were progressive enough to mash up a male and female character in the 90s...hell I don't think they're progressive enough to do it now.
-
A better amalgam...one that doesn't waste Diana...would be Mar-Vell crashes on Themyscira instead of Steve. When she pulls him from the sea, there's a freak accident that endows her with Kree powers like what happened to Carol.
Drop her being resentful and jealous of Ororo, and she leaves the island to become Ms. Wonder
...or Captain Wonder, although since this was in the the 90s Carol would've actually been Warbird at the time.

Marvel did a an amalgam a few years back where they crossed their own characters with each other. I remember one of the fusions being Wolverine and Emma Frost called "Diamond Patch". They mixed the genders of some other characters too.
You're probably right about them not wanting to do a cross gender amalgamation in the 90's, especially if they kept Carol's gender for the amalgamation.

Are we saying that Diana being able to exist is worse than being merged into a totally new character like most others were?
Are we saying that Diana being able to exist is worse than being merged into a totally new character like most others were?
Well if you're going to participate in the schtick you might as well go all in, otherwise what's the point?
-
Well if you're going to participate in the schtick you might as well go all in, otherwise what's the point?
Cause she's cooler than the schtick and the Wonder fam got 2 titles out of it.
-
Well, when the creators deem her unworthy of the time or effort...when one title reduced her to the actual hero's jealous, mean step-sister, and the other title made her the Punisher's glorified sidekick...yeah, I think it would've been better if she got combined with someone else into a new character. Or actually commit to Amazon being the combination of the two. Especially when that was the whole point of the Amalgam gimmick.
-
Maybe it's causes I'm not into X-Men much but always did think Storm was a weird character to pair WW off for the Amalgam stuff. I suppose it was because X-Men was huge and all the female mutant charaters would have been Marvel's most known female characters at the time.
Superman and Captain America, yeah that makes too much sense.
Batman and Wolverine. Each company's respective annoyingly overexposed anti-hero, even more logical.

Well Storm is probably the most prominent female character under Marvel's name.
So the commonality there is both Marvel and DC's leading ladies respectively.

That's what I assume the reasoning in the 90s was. Though with the MCU I'd guess Black Widow or Carol Danvers have probably taken the title.

Oh yeah if this was made today the amalgam would definitely be fusing Diana and Carol together.
Also that Bullets and Bracelets title got me curious, I checked the Amalgam info and turns out Diana was fused with 2 characters. First up is Amazon which is obviously Storm/Wonder Woman fusion but the Bullets and Bracelets comic is actually a surprising deep cut.
Bullets and Bracelets features Diana being fused with Lynn Michaels the 2nd Punisher or Lady Punisher who debuted in The Punisher War Zone (Vol. 1) #7 (July, 1992). So both Steve and Diana are fused with Punisher 1 and 2 in that comic which hey gotta give points for creativity, thats an unexpected fusion.

Ah, there's the connection. Haven't read much Punisher outside of Ennis so wasn't aware there was another ''female Punisher'' outside of the one he did.
There was also ''Bruce Wayne, Agent of Shield'' that was Batman + Nick Fury in addition to the more notable Dark Claw. So that wasn't the only time they had two combos.
-
Imagine having hundreds of characters to pick from to fuse with Wonder Woman and you pick the Punisher.
Diana wasn't even snapping neck yet...

I mean a lot of the fusions are pretty random. Sure you have your expected ones like Thanoseid or the Aqua-Mariner.
But there's also Speed Demon (The Flash + Ghost Rider + Etrigan), fusing the Fantastic Four with the Challengers of the Unknown, Dare the Terminator (Deathstroke + Daredevil also turned into a woman), Dial H.U.S.K. (Husk + Dial H for Hero), and Magneto and the Magnetic Men which is a lot of stuff thrown in.
They were clearly having fun with this so I can't really begrudge them for it for going wild with an insane concept.
-
Yeah, I feel like a lot of Amalgam was just "Hey! This thing is over there! It shouldn't be over there!"
I still enjoyed it, though.

I wish that they had amalgamated Diana with Thor or Valkyrie, which would've been a better fit thematically.

Diana's Amalgam isn't that random when you consider that her run at the time had her losing the WW title to someone else and fighting gangsters.

People act like the biker costume is sooooooo awful, but it's really not. It's basically the superhero version of Madonna on the Blonde Ambition tour. I liked it then, I like it now.

Bullets and Bracelets was the best thing to come out the Amalgam era to me. It was clever.
