Dawn of DC line looking depressing as hell. 20 new books, 1 woman creative (Tamaki writing a Hal Jordan title), and 0 woman-led titles.
DC has an amazing roster of female characters and no faith in any of them, and it just becomes a self-perpetuating cycle. They assume woman-led books won't sell so they assign them to D-list creative teams, do 0 promo, let the bad to middling reviews roll in, and then assume the lack of interest is because of the character's gender. Sigh.
My only hope is that we'll get either a miniseries or another WW Black Label book because that's the only way we're getting ANY exciting new woman-led anything.
I don’t think they’ve announced all of the new titles just yet, they said they were saving some announcements for the back half of 2023.

I'd agree if it was just WW missing, but no female-led titles whatsoever in the first batch of announcements is really not good. It also sucks that after all the work they're doing building up Mary the Shazam monthly's going back to Billy.
-
Might give Tamaki a shot, since it's the only place I can read Hal. I didn't read her arc on WW and it doesn't sound like I missed much, but I did like her Gilda Dent story in Batman black and white. Plus I heard she did well with Huntress
-
Yeah, a DC universe with the main creative drivers being Waid and Johns again doesn't fill me with much hope for WW. Waid regrets how he damaged the character with KC but I doubt she's still a character he's particularly passionate about and meanwhile Johns' record speaks for itself. So I'm not surprised if WW's on the bottom of list for their priorities compared to their favs like Supes, Bats, or has-beens like the Titans.
Only thing really catching my interest is Shazam by Waid. GL: Hal is wait and see as Tamaki's still in the dog house for her WW run. Then again, kind of realizing I just don't care much for the rest of the DC universe.
Oh well, we still have Historia and then beats out everything else.

Yeah, apparently, those next books are given, DC is satisfied with how it sold :o

I always wondered how much mileage they would get out of Mary when they turned her series into a mini.

Still on cloud 9 it beat Taylor's Nightwing fanfic. :o

Possibly to soon be expanded to full Titans fanfic.
So I guess Donna has that to look forward to.

Well, the that's kind of right. It's mostly because WW doesn't have a stupidly exploitable weakness like a glowing green rock or a functioning Zippo lighter.
At least Geoff Johns got that right. Mark Waid and the animation team certainly didn't.

Waid probably hated the "loses powers if a man ties me up" weakness had been dead since Marston. :p
Do find it funny the best thing one of the signature writers of Flash could come up with a "contingency plan" for a rogue Flash was "just shoot him".

Yeah, it's pretty bad. My theory is Waid correctly understood that five Justice League members had serious, tangible, and easy to understand weaknesses so he wrote tangible scenarios for all of them, but then he got to WW and Flash and had to make some stuff up.

Yeah, no clever "my only weakness!" for those two, or if there was long since abandoned, for Bruce to exploit. Or examples of Bruce being clever in way any other DC villain couldn't be.
-
Isn't her only weakness that she hypothetically can't undo her own lasso if she's captured in it? I feel like that's come up before.
It was some kind of bondage thing...

Well, it is a magic lasso. So not WW's weakness, it is everyone's weakness. No one can escape the magic lasso or undo it.

The only weakness in regards to the Lasso I'm aware of is that it can be used on her just as much as it can be used on anyone else. It's as much a weakness as stepping on a bear trap is a weakness to humans.
The Golden Age and New 52 had one where if she removed her bracelets, she went into a frenzied state, or "god mode" in the New 52.
Then there's of course stuff like poison gasses and no defense against bullets.
70s show actually had it where if her belt was removed while not on Paradise Island then she'd lose her powers.

Although on the TV show, WW could remove her bracelets and not go insane.
The TV WW also stated that she was mortal, despite also mentioning that she was over 2500 years old,

I think it was clearly stated that one only has immortality while on the island

What did Tamaki do to be put in the dog house for? She was just on Detective Comics, for a short time, but still.

Maxwell Lord, Liar Liar, and "you are your fathers' daughter."
-
Did I miss something? #WonderWoman has been continuously trending on Twitter for the past 48 hours or so and as many times as I click on the WonderWoman topic, I don't see a unified reason as to why it is trending. I see all sorts of random tweets with WW art, opinions, mentions, etc, but not a concrete reason for the trending. Did I miss some announcement in regard to the video game, the third WW film, Gal Gadot, Lynda Carter or whatnot?

What Frontier said, pretty much.
No time for Max Lord in WW no matter how much DC try to pretend he has a place in WW comics.
I could overlook as that was movie synergy with '84 but Hippolyta saying Diana "truly is her father's daughter" is up there with Hal Jordan saying "I don't even know what will is" in terms "say I don't get this character without saying I don't get this character".

It looks like Diana won't have a major role in that Lazaro thing, and from DC's announcements there's nothing new from the Wonderverse until at least halfway through the year either. :(

Exactly. We don't need more content with her, if it is going be bad. Which is the case 99% of the time.

I don't think so if that means that we won't have any kind of announcement about the expansion of the Wonderverse, apparently that Lazaro thing implies a whole new development for the Superfamily, Batfamily, new series, big books, etc. But not even the WW logo appears on the "Dawn of the DCU" announcement.
-
Some have been wanting WW to dissappear from DC so they got their gift

Events like these are rarely a good thing for the Wonder family.
-
I mean, this seems pretty harmless as far as events go.
-
This event will be as much talked about as the Winter event from after Death Metal was.
As in, not much when it's actually going on and then quickly consigned to the dustbin once it's over.
