An Amazon prequel series, but it's "Game of Thrones" like?
Dangit, who used the money's paw?!
Don't hold the GOT comparison too seriously
Its generic PR talk, everyone talks about how GOT a new show is like, even kids shows
-
Yeah, I am not worried about the GOT comparison. It's a normal thing in Hollywood to take any IP that becomes hugely successful and use it as a soundbite to hook people into watching new product with superficial similarities. It's happened forever ("this will be a new, Star Wars-like concept" "It's like Die Hard, but on/in a [insert slightly different setting/city/vehicle, etc]!" "This will be our Friends!" "This is The Godfather-meets-superheroes!" "This will be Wonder Woman-meets-Game of Thrones!")
The only thing I hope is that the show doesn't become a set up for a potential Amazons Attacks film or series. I can see how that storyline/concept might have an appeal to the "let's make the amazons *badass and blood-thirsty* warriors" crowd of fanboys. At the same time, the fact that the new DCU is indeed working on a Wonder Woman-adjacent show is, imo, a good thing. I mean, Superman and Batman get all these Superman/Batman projects that don't feature them and it only helps their overall presence in pop culture. I can see this being part of a strategy to position WW into finally being on equal standing with the boys as far as output. Maybe the next announcement will include an animated WW series, and the inevitable solo film. Fingers crossed.
That's definitelt not true. Future State didn't mention "everything happened".
Future State cared so much about continuity that it was an out of continuity event in which everything and nothing mattered even if that wasn't the PR slogan yet.
We know even now stories planned for 5G are still being rewritten, which is why I specifically mention Infinite Frontier. Future State isn't the end all be all of repurposed 5G stories.

GOT-like just means there's fantasy mixed with political intrigue, which like at an absolute bare bones level should be what an amazon TV series should be about.

Seen a Shazam 2 TV spot with shots of her. Hope her scenes are great.

Damn! I want to see it now!!!

Watching the new Black Panther, I am even more sad about the loss around Rucka's 1st run. They dealt with arms race and nations' covetousness of their resources and technologies. The movie has an accelerated pace but I would loved to see more of the vignettes such as when the Archons had a side meeting at the White House dinner.

Is Tom Taylor admitting a mistake without admitting it? :p
Injustice for me is a very troubled time. I had so much fun on that book. Obviously, I was on it for years. I think I was originally hired for fifteen chapters, and I wrote over 150. But there's a lot about Injustice that that rubs me up the wrong way. I don't believe Superman, no matter what happens to him, can become that person. I don't believe Wonder Woman becomes that person...

Is Tom Taylor admitting a mistake without admitting it? :p
This has been his, and his fanboys, go-to line for years on the Injustice comics. :p
Doesn't really explain why he felt the need to never go into her character or motivation until there was a widely popular movie adaption of WW he could ride the coattails of.
Those scenes of Harley, BC, and GA being super best friends forever were just to important to the narrative.
-
Is Tom Taylor admitting a mistake without admitting it? :p
No. I think he's basically sating He was hired to write them that way but he doesn't believe Superman or WW would be those people.

rumor has it a Red Sonja and Wonder Woman crossover might happen. I find this interesting given how long it's been since Sonja has crossovers with that big of a character. It will be written by Gail Simone. I doubt this is true but I'm curious if this is how do you all think Diana and Sonja will get along

Any source for this rumor?

So sadly WW was relegated to being lonely on Vday in the HQ special. Crying over an old photo of Steve that seemed to be a callnack to the films. She's tricked by HQ to go to Themyscira as HQ steals the lasso.
That's all. Bruce spent his locked in jail as Selina dropped off chocolates. Clark/Lois were cute. Even Darkseid got a gf.

Oh well, at least they didn't pair her up with Batman.

For a show that loves, loves, loves patting itself on the back for having Harley and Ivy in a same-sex relationship, kinda lame that it completely ignores Diana's bisexuality for a weak non-gag.
But would you have expected any less from Harley Quinn?

I suspect that's more the fault of WB executives than the show itself.

As someone who DOES like Harley Quinn, I thought the Wonder Woman scene was the funniest part of the special. The Hippolyta bit absolutely killed me.
Otherwise I thought it was eh. Bane and Clayface are hilarious in small doses but this episode had way too much of them.
And re: Diana's bisexuality - calling it now, the video game is going to be the first big WW story outside of comics to show her bisexuality. I've seen the devs say some stuff on Twitter that suggests there'll be female romance options.

Oh? That's interesting. I was actually wondering if there'd be any romance in general.
I'd be curious to see how many people romance Steve if he's like the only male option :p.

Are there any reporter characters in WW mythos?
Are there any reporter characters in WW mythos?
None immediately come to mind. Could be an interesting idea for new characters, given the current media/political climate across the world.
-
I was just thinking that it would be amusing if Diana got a reporter as a love interest just to keep the superhero dating reporter theme going.
-
Are there any reporter characters in WW mythos?
Cassie Arnold from WML's run. She was also the White Magician's girlfriend who he transformed into a witchy monster alongside Cheetah.

You could use the Question just to spoof the Batman/WW fans too.
He's a reporter like Clark and a broody detective like Bruce. It's a 2 for 1 special.

Hope that Paradise Found is an indicator as to the direction they're taking Wonder Woman.
(Man, it's sad that James Gunn has been doing more to market the actual comics than Marvel or DC are doing.)

I'm very reassured by the fact that it's not n52 or Amazons Attack and I'm thrilled that the Phil Jimenez has gotten such a push, but Paradise Found is an odd choice for a reprint here. It's so reliant on continuity and crossover context that even I have a hard time following it. The Perez omnibus, Historia, or The Circle would have made a lot more sense.
I wonder if Gunn is going to promote the Historia hardcover as the FOC/release date gets closer. Hope he does.
-
Yeah, I love Paradise Lost/Found but that is a terrible "new reader" intro book.
-
I wish he wasn't so coy and just outright confirmed which books it's going to be based on like he did for Tom King's stuff.
-
Although it could mean that they haven't decided exactly which books it's going to be based on.
-
Although it could mean that they haven't decided exactly which books it's going to be based on.
That would explain why they're focusing on the Amazons first.
Wonder if they figured out if Gal Gadot is staying yet or not.
-
They're probably just using the name "Paradise Lost" because it sounds grand, not because it's based on the comic or cartoon stories.

Which I kind of hate tbh because general fans looking up Paradise Lost wont be directed to anything WW. If anything it should've been named something like
Wonder Woman: Paradise Lost
Paradise Island: Paradise Lost
Themiscrya: Paradise Lost

Better to not use a title at all from one of the most famous works of literature if you want to avoid that then. :p
