I was the same with Taylor before I just finally realized it was mentally unhealthy. I haven't paid attention to anything he's done since the first issues of DKoS.

Any update on that totally real, not made up , Amazons show, Gunn?

I would actually love this as an animated film.
I have no proof of this, but something tells me Gunn would look to Perez and King - with a dash of Rucka - for his version of Wonder Woman on film.

Has Gunn shared any post on Wonder Woman which is not all about being dark and gritty? For Wonder Woman day, he shared an artwork of Diana soaked in blood holding her sword. He said Paradise Lost will be like Game of Thrones. He listed Azarello's Wonder Woman as one of his favorites in New 52. And now Dead Earth.
I actually liked Dead Earth a lot but it it would be nice if he shared some other side of her as well (as it is DCU is mostly silent on Wonder Woman).

Gunn said he loved Azarello's run in New 52. Based on his other posts made about Wonder Woman, he seems to prefer the more dark and brutal depiction of Wonder Woman and her world.

He recommended Historia, but that came after news there were no plans for no WW in the DCU at the moment.
So like that "WW animation tweet", probably more damage control/quick good PR move.
I don't like Waid and Mora either but you guys realize you can just not read World's Finest, right?

While that is true the issue with that is as the last 8 years of Black Panther has shown-your fandom card gets questioned if you choose to not buy books with said characters.
With folks who NEVER read said book or even really care about said character attacking you. Then when said book gets axed guess who gets the blame not the contents of said book but the folks who did the RIGHT thing-if they were not interested they just didn't buy the book.
We are in an era of you seemingly have to support everything good or bad when it comes to certain characters.
While Wonder Woman has been treated poorly. What was done to others like Wally West and T'Challa are levels worst. No way if Wonder Woman won 3 Oscars and made a billion dollar movie that the company would rush to hire writers who hated her and allow her to be beaten by Black Adam telling her to go back to Paradise Island.
In fact there should NEVER be a time or place Wonder Woman should be treated poorly.

While I agree with your last point....your first point...who cares if one gets questioned. There's ALWAYS the "I'm the TRUE FAN" simply based on their view of said character anyway.

This is why I maintain the best thing that will happen to characters like Wonder Woman and most non-Batman/Superman characters is when the early stuff begins entering public domain and now if someone is dissatisfied with DC’s handling of WW when they have Waid or Taylor do the 1800th “WW gets morally lectured to by Superman and Batman” storyline they can either make their own legal version or support someone else’s efforts.

Is that very likely to happen tho? What kinda stories have Winnie the Pooh or the other characters gotten after public domain, just cheap bad scary movies. It is just as likely that the people who have the opportunity to do similar with Wonder Woman or other characters just doesn't care about the character but the money or publicity.
Dead Earth has risen a lot on Amazon. Spent some hours on 51 and is now 24. Gunn keeps doing healthy advertisement for the comics.

Winnie the Pooh and Mickie stuff are
1) cheap exploitation horror movies and...
2) have only been in the public domain for less than five years. That's hardly a representative of anything and it comes with the territory.
You want to know what else is in the public domain? Dracula, Sherlock Holmes, Frankenstein, Wizard of Oz, Zorro, King Kong, the Lovecraft mythos, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, works of Shakespeare, all world mythologies, etc, etc I could go on. All of whom have versions that arguably more famous than their source mateiral because of someone made their own version as it was free to do so.

Sure, but some of them took very long time or had just one thing that was really popular.
That of course could be good for Wonder Woman. But say 30 or 50 year after entering public domain isn't exactly something to write home about.

When or how it happens is kind of irrelevant, my point is that there would now be options. If I don’t like what DC decides is a good WW, then fortunately thry will no longer be the sole people who get to decide that.
Trying to act as if public domain is a bad thing because a couple examples were not to ones personal taste is rather silly.
My prediction is we will see a number of cameo appearances of them in other media at first. I know of a mangaka whose spoken with excitement about Batman and Superman being around the corner for example.
For Wonder Woman theres alot of potential fun to look forward to between 90% of her golden age material never being touched by later writers, to the fact that she is connected to alot of public domain concepts that DC can't claim ownership of. Im looking forward to hypothetical Wonder Woman and the Island of Doctor Moreau crossover that somehow involves Circe

I have not said it is a bad thing at all. People on this site really loves to see thing that aren’t there. Just stating that you shouldn’t expect public domain to shoot out great stories often and that it also doesn’t necessarily mean we will have many good stories or only have a good effect. Another great thing other than options is that it will most likely make DC have a bigger focus on doing their characters correct since they have competition.

Its a bit of an oddball book but I'm glad it got a huge boost from Gunn's promotion. Gunn really has to keep doing these book advertisements.

Yeah it is really good that he does this. And he seems to do i with mostly generally well received books. Dead Earth is now 17 so it continued to climb.
Gunn needs to advertise Perez & Rucka tpb runs
Gunn needs to advertise Perez & Rucka tpb runs
Perez and Rucka pre-date 2011, so like most when it comes to New 52 WW, she didn't exist until 2011. :p
Gunn needs to advertise Perez & Rucka tpb runs
Crazy (not actually) that he hasn't done that.

Doesn't seem like his kind of a thing. He prefer either dark and gritty re-imaginings of traditional superheroes or subversive comics about anti-heroes.
I think he even said that he considers the very idea of traditional superheroes ridiculous, and that's why he prefers stories like Suicide Squad or Guardian of the Galaxy.
Maybe he'll delegate WW stuff to someone else, with a gentler touch?
Ugh. Dead Earth is a horrible (and horrible-looking) book. I don't care how critically acclaimed it was, to me it's awful.
Gunn's DCU starting with solo films only for Superman & Batman, and Supergirl getting the solo film that should've been Wonder Woman's is giving "Gunn doesn't really give a shit about Diana" energy.

Yes he's so edgy and cynical, thats why his movies have very optimistic and hopeful themes featuring characters regaining their morality and proving themselves willing to become better people and selflessly try to be heroes in spite of how flawed they are.
He's so edgy, I can feel the edge and nihilism off of scenes like Ratcatcher 2's flashback with her dad about how anyone has self-worth in thw world or Star-Lord's tearful mourning of Yondu's sacrifice, as Yondu realizes he always thought of Quill like a son to him.
I can feel the grit, its so "dirty." :p
Honestly outside of the skull flail thing, I didn't have much of a problem with Dead Earth.
I despise the whole 'The Amazons became the evil threat to the world that must be put down' thing, and yet another example of the island being destroyed with Diana being the last of the Amazons. Its practically cliche for elseworlds to do so at this point.

It is likely his dcu verse will flop. If we go by how most comic movies have been performing lately. So maybe if the new universe is bad. Diana won't have to be part of it at least in the first stage.

I think those are just dramatic descriptions of fairly standard movie scenes. The overall vibe of Gunn's movies is always about irreverence and moral ambiguity.
Even a Snyder fan can talk about "Superman's tearful reminder of the costs of being a hero at the end of MoS" or the "redemption of an extremist Batman after seeing that there is more to being human than physiology."
But that doesn't really make up for all the other stuff. Same with Gunn.
It's ironic that DC keeps giving Superman films to edgy directors who are Batman fans.

At this point, if Gunn's DCU flops, we need to get ready for 100 more years of only Batman films and the occasional Superman attempt that never fully connects with massive audiences (nobody has ever managed to recapture the magic of Donner's & Reeve's original Superman film).
I like Gunn’s movies, I liked The Suicide Squad, thought Peacemaker was a good watch and I’m pumped for Superman. Personally I’m rooting for the Gunnverse though I’m very doubtful our turn will come, it just seems like the sun is dawning on the Superhero genre

Thats because Snyder was boring as hell with monotone characters and deathly serious tones set to a dull gray filter.
You can be dramatic as you want in refusing reality, thats your prerogative, but Gunn has actually made fun movies.
Yeah, I see this movieverse flopping. Not because of movie quality because im sure that will be good.
But rather because Zsaslav is going to start cancelling some of these weeks before release for a tax evasion scheme and the resulting effect will sink the entire endeavor.
Maybe we should wait until an actual film comes out first.

"Fun" can depend on the person. Either way, both Gunn and Snyder have made movies that appeal to people for whatever reason.
