It's always fun to read these, truly nothing has changed except now we're here instead of writing letters.
Can't say I'm optimistic on that front if I'm honest. Least not from McFarlane.
Most I could see is when the Wonder Woman game comes out he'll probably at minimum do a Wonder Woman figure based off her appearance in the game but I'd be surprised at anymore based off all he did for WW84 was her standard and Golden Armor designs. But I'll be genuinely surprised to see him ever do a figure of a WW character that isn't Diana and isn't some lame alt-design like "Donna Troy Superwoman" or "Batman Ares".
There is a Wonder Woman figure coming up in the Retro Super Powers line and an invisible jet though, so there's at least something.
Oh cool, thanks for letting me know. I just looked it up. The WW figure is a weird mix of classic and Rebirth, I guess because a skirt would get in the way of her sitting...?
The Jet looks...more egg-ish than I would have imagined. I guess they didn't make it long because they wanted to keep the price point down, but it kinda looks like a copter right now...

Yeah, think it's mainly because it's trying to keep in style with the look of old Superpowers toys, which were entirely kid-oriented with wonky proportions unlike a lot of newer figures these days.
But yeah, outside of going to ebay for aftermarket figures or saving up outrageously expensive statues/posable figures I can't say there's much in regards to WW figures to look forward to with McFarlane.
-
Been reading Superfriends (mostly for Dr Mist) and by jove this is most incompetent Wonder Woman (and Aquaman) I've ever read. The art by Ramona Frandon was nice though. Can we have this kind of art style but with better writing for WW?
-
This entire story arc has been so crazy, its been enjoyable. Steve dies, Diana is wrecked by his death, a multiverse Steve crashes onto E1, Aphrodite erases both their memories and the worlds memories of Steves death. Sophia was WWs enemy but then turned friend, accepted to Paradise Island, finds out Hippolyta/Aphrodites secret and wants to tell Diana about it. And now E1 Steve may be ALIVE!?! All of this plays out for the next 1-2 years.

Hot takes... Diana shouldn't have children just to have children. She definitely shouldn't have them with Bruce or Clark, maybe not even Steve.
-
I dont want main Earth Diana to have kids. But I want her to have a multiverse child who is like Powergirl and stranded on the main Earth. Of course it only works if the characters are actually used properly.

The praise and excitement expressed in these letters was exactly how I felt at the time reading Thomas and Colan’s work. What a short-lived party that was! To this day I still regret how Thomas’ tenure turned out to be so brief.

Project A-Ko is from the 80s, so almost nobody talks about it anymore. Probably the only time I ever hear it referenced is one of those "Did you know?" sorts of trivia, specifically the joke at the end of the first movie that casually explains that her powers, that are otherwise never explained, come from her famous parents. Her parents aren't directly stated, but it's pretty obvious. Plus, Eiko's bracelets are references to WW.

The comic tie-ins, character design sheets and promotional material that was released in 1994 states their names explicitly. There has also been a remastering with more comics and they are actually in costume as Superman and Wonder Woman.

Gonna guess
1. Wonder Woman #800 will be another anthology and she'll write one of the stories
2. She'll be the new writer of WW with #800
3. Video game consultation/writer
4. Has a mini lined up.
5. Trolling. :p

She tweeted before that about how she's working on, quote, the "2 biggest projects of her life and they're comics-RELATED but not comics" and said a while ago that they're related to 2 of her favorite superheroines. She also mentioned that she doesn't have anything planned in comics right now but "might be doing a short thing for a superstar character in comics shortly," and I'd put money on that being another Star-Blossom story for #800.
Someone also tweeted her asking her if she could come back to DC to write Wonder Woman and she replied pretty much saying outright that the "cool stuff" she mentioned wasn't in comics.
I have a strong feeling that one of the things she's working on is a big non-comics WW project. Video game is the most obvious guess - Paul Dini wrote the Arkham games so it's not unheard of - but the game's already been announced and has writers openly working on it so I'm not sure why she'd need to be coy about it. Suppose we'll wait and see! It's probably wishful thinking but it'd be amazing if she were kicking off WW in the new Gunn-verse in some capacity - we know she'd do right by her and she wouldn't let the Zeus origin with 10 miles of it :p
-
Thanks for the info bardkeep. What you're saying makes sense. Would be all for her being in the game.

I hope she's working on an unannounced Wonder Woman Animated Series or the rumored Tomorrowverse Wonder Woman film. I don't know if I see Gunn asking her to write for a potential Wonder Woman film.

Yeah my thought was that if it's not the game it might be an animated series. Gunn mentioned wanting to tie animation into the new DCU which is why I thought it might connect to the main universe they're setting up.
Doubt it's a Tomorrowverse film because I highly doubt she'd call that the biggest project of her career when she already co-wrote the 2009 animated movie. Plus with the regime change I'll be surprised if they don't axe the Tomorrowverse as soon as the current slate is finished.
-
Honestly surprised those animated films weren't the on the chopping block, especially given how Zaslav gutted Cartoon Network seemingly.
They're not nearly as popular as they used to be, I'm sure streaming and digital buys eats in the hard sales numbers but even the Bat films don't get close to the old films that used to be considered "disappointments".

Physical sales are still decent so I assume online sales pretty much get them to break even and maybe gain a little $$. Surprised they havent made a deal with netflix to host them over HBO Max.

Where has this been rumored? I'd be totally down for it, but just asking :p.

Reading the Titans of Myth storyline in TT and I am surprised that such a huge storyline took place in that title and w/no WW in sight. It also seems somewhat similar to the current storyline that is happening in current day WW.
-
I will never NOT stan Gail Simone. To me, she is one of the top three writers of WW ever, and without naming names, I think she is actually a much better WW writer than several highly regarded fan-favorite WW male writers.
If she is involved in the video game or an upcoming stint in the main comic or even the live-action WW iteration of the Gunn/Safran DCU, I will be ecstatic.

What do people think about the rules of Paradise Island? Especially in regards to men stepping foot on it. Should there be some type of turmoil that happens? Should they lose their powers? Should Paradise start to become chaos with storms and such?

I hated that the Amazons had to suffer because of what others did.
What about if uninvited men turn into beasts if they step onto the island? Maybe invited ones do not or can be given bands to temporarily suspend that fate?
-
I don't like it at all.
The inciting incident for Wonder Woman's story is a man landing on Themyscira. He is then treated with hospitality and care. Having some arbitrary "No man can set foot on the island" with nonsensical consequences is just dumb.
It was the same with the Justice League animated series. "Yes, you and your male friends saved us, Diana. But men are not allowed, so you're banished."
Makes the Amazons look like idiots and gives rise to the notion they're man-haters. And if you make them man-haters, we have to get the inevitable and trite "not all men" arc where they learn a lesson about how men are blah-blah-blah.
Also...and this might just be me...but I think it would redundant for the Amazons to have a law about men on Themyscira when the island is magically hidden and no one's supposed to find it anyway. Why have a law or rule over something that is presumably not supposed to ever happen?
It's like if I declared a law that no rocks from the moon are allowed on my property. Not saying it's impossible, but it's so unlikely to happen, why have a specific law against it?
-

While i don't need any big supernatural things to happen if a man steps foot on the island, pre-coie this wasn't a rule set up by the Amazons but instead Aphrodite.
The Amazons have a history with men, you have none with moon rocks lol. The island has always been hidden but what's hidden can be found.
-
Steve Trevor crash landed and walked around the island while nothing happened to him. We don't need this arbitrary rule once the amazons are on the island.

Agreed to all this. I get having the rule before the island, I even agree with and understand the amazons being cautious towards outsiders, but once we're there it just becomes a stupid law. We get moments with like flying characters that hover over the ground to go over the rule so to speak. Like you want to have these characters here? Fine, don't see a reason to put in this no men rule then.
-
I feel like it worked more in the Silver and Bronze Age because that's just kind of how comics worked back then, but I don't think it's necessary now.
-
Sorry if this sounds weird, but I recall a time when Diana had the ability to store the lasso in a pocket dimension. Did that ever happen or am I mistaken?
