Times like these, you miss the days when the Gods could just make the islands.
Im assuming this ties into that whole 'who do you think was guarding the doorway before the Amazons came along?' line from the annual. Could have totally made a new island, but the doorway was the important bit
And no, I think our 'who really destroyed Krypton will tragically be 'Everything Diana knew was a lie!' Its been going on since the Mishkin era and we seem to get a variation of it every 3-4 writers
-
Im getting the impression that the gods wiped the island clean of who was on there before and then tossed the Amazons onto it at some later point. I don't get the impression that the Amazons were even aware it had been previously inhabited
Yeah, this seems to be set up as the Gods being dicks (in other news, water is wet), and not the Amazons doing something themselves.
With all the Golden/Silver age references in this run so far, I wonder if Altuum's people are going to be a revamp of Mer-Man's people?

Thats what im suspecting as well! Between Gadget-Maker, Image-Master, Villainy Inc, a storyline in which Diana visits a fairyland, Gundra the Valkyrie, Diana being able to see and talk to ghosts, and people who look like dopplegangers of Wonder Woman; they are really borrowing heavily from the pre crisis era.
Ronno the Merman/boy and his people were supposed to live in the ocean off the coast of the island so this would certainly make alot of sense.

LOL. Gotta love how fast we keep on changing from one crummy WW lore moment to another. But sure DC has ''changed'' and is better with WW now. LOLOLOL.

Goes to show that we never should open up to writers too fast when we say this writer should write the WW book. Because it could be an outlier like in this case.

TBF, he is only a co writer on this. This could just be Mathew Rosenberg's fault. We know how Tynion writes WW when he is the sole writer of a book.
Anyway, I'm not even going to pay attention to this silly out of continuity event.

Why do heroes even fight against people from the Batfamily? Now Wonder Woman, as a vampire, gets one shotted by Batman, nowhere to be seen afterwards. And apparently to the artist, she really felt the kick when it should feel like to Batman hitting someone close to Supes strength.
Further proof of her jobber status in the DCEU plus even a better reason she should be stick in her own universe, or just move over to the Marvel books because it can't get any worse for her.
What's next, the Penguin taking on and beating Wondy one on one? Maybe in the next direct to video animation that comes out!

Yes! I mean Injustice WW is clearly the best WW, look at that strength!

Bad comic, decent fight, bad character. This whole thing, all of it, it's funny to me. At least it wasn't Cheetah in DC vamps, we wouldn't have cared otherwise.
Edit: Also, its Wonder Woman fighting Superman.... Like they are in the same weight class.... I hope we see her strength... what "own" is this?

I knew when I saw the title Dc vs Vampires it would not be any more creative than the whole Dc Zombies affair.

What's funny is usually the Injustice stans using this (and the dream sequence where she's banging Batman) as examples of the Injustice creators doing right by Wonder Woman.
Even though it opens the question why regular Wonder Woman couldn't have just taken down Regime Superman in the first game.
I knew when I saw the title Dc vs Vampires it would not be any more creative than the whole Dc Zombies affair.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure this and DCeased are stuff DC was going to make regardless of whoever's on the creative credits for it.
By, for, and of the lowest common denominator.

Ugh.
Injustice WW.
Ick.
And literally nothing here was done better than say Superman vs Wonder Woman of their battles during Superman Sacrifice or The Witch and The Warrior. Byrne had her fight a more powerful version of Doomsday and could break its bones as well. So what does the Injustice add that wasn't done better by better creators?

For what is that even supposed to be an example, Injustice Wonder Woman is a total weakling and jobber, who is on most other occasions portrayed as far inferior to Injustice Superman who is even also kind of a weakling, and even that scene had still this context:

Injustice Wonder Woman is absolute pathetic in any possible way, the only thing that iteration proves is that Tom Taylor should not be allowed to write Wonder Woman.

One of my favorite additions to WWs many mthos is her working for a Museum. Wouldnt mind seeing it adapted into an animated or comic. Could be a place she stores some of her wins from Battles w/Cassies mom being her Perry White to a degree.

Nobody expected better. If anything some people on this site seems to have better expectations, with this idea that DC has changed and will treat WW better now. When there is no evidence at all that they are better. ON the contrary, they still treat her like trash.

Multiple books for the first time since like the 40s?
A crossover event featuring most of the Wonder family?
A video game dedicated entirely to her?

More content isn't the same as better treatment. Her characterization, powers and role in team books, games and movies are still crummy. And let's not get carried away with the WW event before we see how things go. Lord knows that DC and WB have a great trackrecord when it comes to portraying WW and her lore badly.

So far. The trackrecord proves this to be true. If they can't treat her with dignity. Just let her stay in limbo.

And it could open up multiple stories for the character. Gods speaking to her through the statues, connection to Barbara, an item of the week if she ever had a show sort of like Charmed did in S1/2 through Bucklands, flexible schedule..

Opinions vary of course but the main book is good, Historia is great, and I've enjoyed the various other titles like JLD, B&G, and Sensational.
Yara's been a boring dud but characters like Hippolyta, Nubia, and Artemis are finally getting their own stuff to shine in.
Yeah, the game's still far off but better off than we were like six months ago when the only option was Super Simp in Ed Boon and Tom Taylor's DC fanfic. Only the Bat-family and Hot Topic Squad are the only other DC characters getting games right now and those ones are entirely because of their Batman ties.

I wouldn't say Marvel, but DC and WB have a very impressive track record of providing reasons why they shouldn't have the rights on Wonder Woman.

This series is so damn boring, at every turn it goes for the most cliched direction to take the story in. And yeah it’s absolute bs that Batman could do that. But this should really be in the power levels thread.

It's not silly. It's the truth. After more than 80 years of mostly having crummy treatment. Charaterization and all. I'm pretty sure WW is beyond saving at this point. DC and WB have not changed. And things will not be better. If the success of 2017 didn't change things. Nothing will.

It can be here too. Since it fits the general discussion topic. WW being treated like trash and a jobber is pretty much part of her general existence.

LOL
If you think about it, there is nothing more sexist than working in a museum.
But no, I prefer that Diana doesn't have a regular job and only uses her secret identity just to hide from the paparazzi when she wants to go unnoticed, she's a celebrity.
