Zeus isn't just her father, he's effectively the reason she has powers, weapons, and became Wonder Woman in the first place.

I remembering all those folks who claimed up and down over the past decade making Diana Zeus' spawn wasn't that bad and wouldn't undercut her female empowerment.
Rocksteady are DCAU fanboys, I dunno why you wouldn’t assume their take on Wondy would suck. Least we have the Monolith game coming which will hopefully bail poor Diana out. This game was never going to do right by her (or any Leaguer).

Can't blame being DCAU fans on this. That Diana didn't leave for no man. Didn't leave for no father.

You could've just stopped here.
[spoil]Didn't they say this game was dedicated to Kevin Conroy, yet the game's story kills Batman off? Like... they should've just scrapped this game after all the backlash to the early production. This whole game is a huge trainwreck, and as a Kevin Conroy fan, it's insulting to dedicate a game that ****s all over Batman and the rest of the Justice League to him.[/spoil]
EDIT: OMG when did CBR start censoring? I need mah swear words.

In fairness to a degree, I believe Conroy passed well after he recorded his lines and the story for the game was likely locked in.
Maybe they could have gotten another Batman VA to dub over but I don't think that would have gone over well either.
Pointing this out, but I remembered Rocksteady was hit with a lot of accusations of sexism in the workplace right before Suicide Squad was announced
So kinda makes things worse to think about
As if we didn't have enough reason to hate the Suicide Squad game, here's their version of Wonder Woman's origin, and amazingly, it's somehow even more vile than just Zeus being her father.
Disgusting. Hopefully, this game will bury the Arkhamverse for good.
Truly floored. This definitely does sound like the logical endpoint of DC's obsession with Diana needing a dad.
2011 - Wonder Woman grows up thinking she was an all-female creation but learns she has paternal heritage.
2023 - Literally the only thing of value about Wonder Woman is being Zeus spawn #1,834,523,538,390. Choke on that Marston.
This game has earned every bit of its inevitable failure.
My brain hurts every time I read something about that game.
Can't blame being DCAU fans on this. That Diana didn't leave for no man. Didn't leave for no father.
And it was left ambiguous if she even had a father.
I think that Vordan's point is that DCAU fan is unlikely to care much about WW unless he was already a WW fan before. So it is not very surprising that the game doesn't do justice for WW.
Man, every time I see something about the Suicide Squad game, I think "Bro, this looks like something made in 2008", which I guess means they did a proper interpretation since that's what I allways think every time I read a Suicide Squad comic.

To be fair to the Squad comics, this game is pretty much the nadir of the modern incarnation of the team that started in 2011 ever since Harley first joined the roster.
Its also blatantly a very late attempt at synergy to the terrible 2016 movie, the whole thing of the Squad being an anti-Justice League contingency the game is using came from that film. Like it is insulting whats become of the franchise ever since Ostrander wrote his seminal title in the 80s. Hell Gail Simone's Secret Six already did the band of misfits schtick better.
This game is a horrific mess of all the worst modern tropes right down to the threat being another Evil Superman.

Well, it would be more accurate to say the threat is Braniac. Superman is an innocent victim as much as anyone else.
If you leave out the Zeus origin, this version of Wonder Woman may not be so bad. The fact she's not brainwashed is something to be happy about.

Yeah I doubt anyone at Rocksteady is a fan of Wonder Woman. They set a game in Metropolis and just ported over all the Batman Rogues anyway, you’ve got freaking Riddler trophies lying around which is idiotic. They’re Batman casuals, the rest of the DCU is just window dressing for Batman/Bat characters when they want to tell a story outside of Gotham.

2018 is more accurate. You got the Ayer Squad (with King Shark instead of Croc), with a black Deadshot for synergy with Will Smith instead of Bloodsport. You’ve got Evil Superman who is mind controlled and murdering everyone. You’ve got Batman killing people. You’ve got WW as the one good hero because her movie didn’t flop, so she’s synergized with the Gadot portrayal of having a sword + shield and the Zeus backstory. It’s such a bizarre and fascinating snapshot into WB’s mindset around the time they thought the DCEU could still be salvaged.

True, but tbf the 2016 movie and the Snyder stuff also bring to my mind 2008 (btw, when I said that I wasnt refering to Ostrander). Like, I feel every contemporary Suicide Squad comic, movie or this game feels like more of a product of the 2008 era than from the modernity. My mindset can totally fit it with the cultural setting that was the embarasingly dated rise of horny artists, the rise of the Arkham games, or the big acumulation of Call of Duty games.

I bet even people who don't like the Steve Trevor origin would prefer it to this :p.

I'm curious was there specifically a Squad run in 2008 or do you mean it generally fits the tone of products released in 2008?

True but granted Superman appears to be the heavy of Brainiac's forces.
So regardless of the context the main threat still majorly includes an out of control Superman.

Plus he's the one that was focused on in the first trailer.

What is the origin they used? The tweet that was linked above is somehow blocked from me.
ETA: Ugh, I watched the video. Awful. Awful. Awful. I cannot believe they friggin gave Zeus all the credit for even her ability to wield the lasso. WTF

The Flash has gotten more focus in the trailers than Superman (I don't think we've even heard him speak). Deadshot's trailer also gave some focus to Green Lantern.
It isn't just Superman who is being controlled, it's the entire Justice League sans Wonder Woman.

i was refering to the former, yes. Suicide Squad comics on 2011 already felt dated af, lol
Suicide Squad game was first mentioned back in 2010. It obviously had many stops and starts and delays, but it is likely that certain influences carried over from one iteration to another.
As if we didn't have enough reason to hate the Suicide Squad game, here's their version of Wonder Woman's origin, and amazingly, it's somehow even more vile than just Zeus being her father.
I don't get what's different here. Aren't Hestia and Hephaestus related to Zeus which makes them her father's side of the family?
Said it on the Tom King thread, but it is more relevant here. A month or so ago Gail Simone said she was working on big books for both DC and Marvel. After that she has been revealed to write X-men. Was thinking she maybe could be the speculated Ultimate Wonder Woman writer. She could of course also not write anything Wonder Woman.
But if she write Ultimate Wonder Woman it would at least mean a probable really good handling of Diana and the Amazons.
I was finally able to buy the Finch run! Now, once I finish buying the Cloonrad Era tpbs, I'll all wonder woman comics published from 2001 to 2023.
Once there, I'll slowly start buying the (very expensive) remaining Golden/Silver Age omnibuses, and my only big gaps will be:
-Once and Future Story. Never been able to fin it.
-Hiketeia, for some reason DC doesn't want to re-edit one, and I'm not very fluent in german
-The Bronze Age (whitout counting the Mod Era). I hope DC starts omnibusing this?
-Number 65 (1992) Wasn't included on the M-L tpbs, which sucks because now where is it going to be, lol
-The Great Gap (from 136 to 163, vol 2). never been reedited as far as I know, which sucks ass
If I get to have just 300 issues left when the year ends I'll be the happiest man alive, lol.

To get the fill-in issues collected, you'll probably have to wait a decade or two before DC starts re-collecting their Post-Crisis issues by era instead of by writer.

I don't know.
Her 90's biker outfit is ridiculous, but that's kind of its charm in an ironic sort of way.
And while her Finch outfit is a disaster, I would call her Injustice and Suicide Squad: KtJL looks worse.
I dunno. I don't like the Finch costume, but that may also be because Im heavily biased against the entire run. But I reckon it's not the worst thing that came out of it.

Yeah, but it just sucks. I mean, Ive read the Great Gap, I know most of that material is kinda meh except perhaps for the Donna Troy issues by Brian K Vaughan. But I still wanna complete my collection!
Hopefully the Bronze Age is at the corner...

Yeah, that's understandable.
Btw, looks like DC is going to re-print all of Adventures of Young Diana by Jordie Bellaire on a same book
https://screenrant.com/dc-wonder-woman-blue-beetle-ya-graphic-novels/
(at least it looks like a re-print? The stories from WW 785-796 were never included in any book as far as I can tell)

Counter argument, the 90s biker outfit is so far removed from a standard WW outfit. It's dumb but it was never gonna be a permanent default WW outfit.
The others on the other hand are just **** remixes of the standard WW look that are as bad as the 90s one and insist they be taken seriously.

Every time I see the biker outfit my brain refuses to see it as WW and thinks it should be Donna Troy. :p
