Name Maria Mendoza, she came from the Andes mountains of Peru and was chosen by the Inca sun god Manco Capac and given a magic staff in the process.
I liked it. Definitely a character I wouldnt mind seeing more of. Given a new Superhero name of course.

The design doesn't work super well for me (extremely ornate taking up 40% of the design and the plain white bodysuit could work if the detail wasn't isolated to "islands" so to speak), but I think it can be updated to be brought to a good spot... But Adam Hughes can many anything look good on a lady so I'll eat those words with gusto. :p

I love the look. The gold really looks like gold and has a regal headdress. He gave her a (small) shield and a spear so warrior concept.
I do not now th e backstory of the character though.

Regular modern day girl who was big on cultural preservation. Tries stopping looters who were robbing an ancient temple and they escape, carting off a bunch of mystical artifacts. She is trapped within a pit trap in the temple when she finds the staff of the sun god who tells her shes been chosen as his champion on Earth, bidding her to stop the criminals from using the magical artifacts for evil.
She then transforms and heads off to Los Angeles to take them down and recover the artifacts with the intent of restoring them to the temple

Thank you!
Was this a published story or series?
I thought it was fun. I own Just Imagine's Justice League comic and I recall enjoying her interactions with that world's Batman (whose basically Wildcat in a Batsuit) and the two of them working together to defeat that world's Blockbuster.

It was an Elseworlds thing and it was published. It's basically Stan Lee (or most likely his artists and ghost writers) revamping DC characters. Superman, Batman and Green Lantern all got revamped as well in their own respective one shots. Then they all came together in a single comic to form the Justice League with that world's Green Lantern as the leader. I recall it being fun and enjoyable. Some of the revamps were really wild like Superman being a space cop stranded on earth and Lois Lane being his fast talking agent trying to turn him into a celebrity. Batman was basically Wildcat; a young man who got framed for a crime he didn't commit, takes up boxing in prison, takes up a Bat motif and becoming wealthy through boxing which is how he funds his gadgets. Green Lantern was a professor who lectures at a university and draws his power from Yggdrasil (I think he was left for dead in an ancient land like WW as well) who chose him as his champion. Flash was your average hyper active female teen side kick who talks a lot but is much cleverer than people give her credit for.

It left me entirely cold. I bought it when first released and I know I read it but I couldn’t remember anything about it. Reading the synopses in this thread still has me drawing a blank. Where is the WW connection or inspiration?
TBF, you could ask for the same question about the other 'Just Imagine' characters. The only thing they had in common was the name and a few of the aesthetics.

In this instance it seemed to be the inspiration was the bit of Perez's run where Diana recieved her powers as gifts from the gods, and the series constant of her possessing a magic lasso of the gods.
In this case the powers come from an Incan sun god and the lasso is instead a staff.
I wouldn't mind this character being revived. Aside from Just Imagine's version of GL, she might be the only other hero that could fit into the DC Universe.

Was the art and coloring as good as this pic throughout the book?

Good question. I don’t remember that either. My copy is buried in a box deep in my closet somewhere.

Honestly several of em would be a pretty good fit.
The comparison between Just Imagines Batman and Wild Cat are pretty accurate.
Just Imagines Flash is no stranger than any other Flash origin
And their take on Catwoman is basically that Tim Burton version but with the Flash origin.
Just Imagine Wonder Woman certainly has an interesting design thing going. I could see Diana teaming up with her and the Wonder-Woman of China on a big adventure.

Change up the names and I could reasonably buy most of them being incorporated into regular DC continuity. The Flash one in particular doesn't seem any particularly stranger than the extended members of the Flash family.
Just Imagine Wonder Woman seems like it just redesigned Alan Moore's Promethea. I still like the design, but not very original

Don't let Alan Moore see this.
I'm curious in Golden age Black Canary was a close friend of Diana. Do you guys think Dc should have kept that?

Yes.
(10 Char)
I wonder how that should be written. It was Diana who introduced Black Canary to JSA. So how would Diana meet Black Canary
Time travel.

Dinah and Zee's friendships with Diana > Bruce and Clark's friendships with Diana. :p
Dinah and Zee's friendships with Diana > Bruce and Clark's friendships with Diana. :p
It's Wonder Woman. Of course female friendship is the best :).
Diana was the one who first brought in Dinah as a JSA member. Underrated friendship.

I mean if we had to Modernized it. I guess and I know this is silly. What if Dinah and Diana met at Holliday College? Dinah was working a case.
That would be cool.

Was it explained how or where Diana knew Dinah?
Wait. Does Dinah have a job? I know in rebirth and now she seems to be a musician.
Wait. Does Dinah have a job? I know in rebirth and now she seems to be a musician.
Wasn't she always a lawyer, even became a DA. At least that's what I remember from Birds of Prey and adaptations like Smallville and Arrow.
In the modern day version she is a florist. So it varies. But she could stay a lawyer. She could have gone to Holliday Girls University.
It's Holliday University. I feel like Diana inviting Dinah to the team could be a good idea if it's about her making a feminist statement way back in the 40s. I feel like Diana and Canary don't need any other reason to meet other than being female superheroes. Diana could seek out Dinah because she wants to meet a normal woman that chose to become a vigilante. Or Black Canary could seek out Wonder Woman because she admires her. No need for any other explanation.
Okay so we drop the girls part that's fine. I actually had a weird backstory for the university. Holliday is even Athena or was a woman who had blessings from the Amazon. That the university is named after someone. And the campus is both magically people and humans. That's what the sorority is for. Helping the magically beings. I mean it would be nice if they did know each other before hand.

What I meant was that the university was always called "Holliday College". The "Holliday Girls" is just the name of the group of women that join Etta in helping Wonder Woman.
Wait I always thought it was a College not a university. Interesting
Sorry I'm not from the U.S. I don't fully know the difference between the two things. But it was called Holiday College.
