Cool! You went above and beyond. When I have a moment I’ll do a tier.

I made this ranking yesterday but I wanted to sleep on it. :)
I don't know if the image is even big enough to be legible---but I put so many under No Opinion because I'm not familiar with their WW efforts. Andru and Sekowsky score highly, not because I'm necessarily enamored with their work, but because they define their respective eras (Kanigher/Mod).
It's ironic that my fave artist of all time (Byrne) is only C tier. Wondy just didn't bring out the best in him.

Rare non-shit Elseworld Diana today.

Hmm, I guess we can add Diggle to the list of good WW writers.

I think it's frustrating that, when it comes to Elseworld takes of Wonder Woman, our apparent options are either genocidal, child-murdering fascists, or utterly boring.
I mean, this has all the hallmarks of the generic Warrior Woman.
She talks like a robot. The bland, boring armor. The sword and shield. And of course she's nowhere near as powerful as regular Diana, thus justifying why she needs the boring armor and weapons. Nothing special about her, despite the lip-service narration. Nothing interesting. She's just a check-mark for the plot.
But she's not Injustice Wonder Woman, so...that's the best we can expect.
Wonder Woman could never have her own Into the Spider-Verse. The variants of her that aren't despicable monsters are dull as dishwater.

You ain't wrong. I've heard good things about this version of WW but to me she seems very generic. And I can't stand that She-Thor font they use for her dialogue.
-
I'm confused, doesn't the Gotham by Gaslight story take place on Earth XIX? And isn't the WW of that Earth the one that appears in Amazonia by William Messner Loebs?
-
Oh wow, and I thought I was negative lol.
FWIW, this Diana also has different backstory of coming from Skataris. Might just be me but I think it’s a fine Elseworld Diana for the moment. Yeah, the bar is subterranean but no Batman or Superman simping or war crimes yet.

This is just doing its own thing as a sequel.
-
I think it was a good Diana from what we have seen. Skataris was a surprise, but it is a Elseworld so changes are expected. Don't really see what is boring about her.

Well ya know its not about enjoying anything, its just any excuse to complain.
With such rigorously strict standards I'm not even sure what would constitute as a "good" Wonder Woman story.

Yeah, I thought it was a neat changeup. Backstory is kind of what I was expecting from Absolute Wonder Woman.

That's why I didn't do it, I tried adding artists that didn't appear but when I did they had no picture. It was turning into a whole thing so I didn't bother. Too labor intensive.

Morrison added WW from Amazonia to this world during Multiversity series. DC and Diggle here are basically ignoring later additions and are just doing a "sequel" to the first Gaslight story. A bit confusing and counter productive, but thats DC for you.

Yeah that is unfortunately how a lot of fans are. Not saying I don't do it (have done it with Waid), but when we simply have an introduction in an Elseworld which is a Batman book, probably wait until the ending to complain. Especially weird since a lot of complaints about Diana overall are about how writers and DC show her to be an aggressive warrior and what we have seen from her here she is an honorable warrior who wants to evade conflict and lethal measures even against something Crimson Centipede's who have killed her sisters.

Nice to see Rucka acknowledged, but knowing what the status quo was back then, it makes it a headache trying to place this on continuity. Paradise Island was suposed to be hidden from everyone during Annual 1...

Better Plastic Man than a Bat character. With this being Brave and the Bold he makes more sense than Angle Man, but that would have been nice.

The artists listed for the issue include Stevan Subic, Nikola Cizmesja, and Christopher Mitten.
I think Rossmo is just drawing that cover.
Which hey WW and Plastic Man, thats a fun team-up. Sounds like a good time.

Indeed! Based on that cover they’ll be dealing with the likes of missiles, hammers, bullets, grenades, lightning, throwing stars and gods knows what else. :p

I wanted to share the writings of the Our Midnight Garden blog who helped understand Wonder Woman's unique quality. I've always loved her but could never picture how she strikes a different chord to say Superman. But then OMG writes that she embodies having faith in others and it all clicks for me.
The Appeal of Wonder Woman
"Her Golden Age origin story is my favorite because of how strongly it depicts the faith she has in mankind. On Paradise Island, Diana is shown the horrors of humanity during World War II, which may well be the darkest period the species has ever faced, with human beings committing some of the most evil acts in history. But the nobility of Steve Trevor, who fights for the side of good, shows her the strength of mankind at the same time. Steve Trevor shows her an example of a good human being and that one indication is enough for her to volunteer to take Steve back home, and to adopt Man's World as her own to protect. Notice the naming of Diana's island: Paradise Island, because it's a place devoid of any strife or hardship. Wonder Woman acts as an angel, sitting in heaven, who looks at humanity even in its ugliest, most evil period, notices one spark of goodness in it, and decides that the spark is worth leaving heaven to nurture. Diana has such faith in our ability to overcome the moral failings we displayed during the war that she's willing to leave paradise to help us in the process. She has the utmost, truest, deepest faith in us that we can do better. We know that because she sacrificed a perfect life solely because of her belief in us, in one of our worst times."
That's a fantastic breakdown of Wonder Woman, but I disagree with the faith in her gods and spirituality stuff. I prefer Diana realizing that the gods aren't capable of the morality of mortals and recognizes that her faith is misplaced on beings so fickle. Aphrodite, maybe, but the rest of them change their motivations and ethics as often as they change their appearances. I prefer Diana seeing the gods as her peers rather than being a devout worshiper herself (even if I'm not a fan of Diana being a full-on god).

The past few years have basically been non-stop in giving Diana reasons not to believe in her patrons.
