Sylvain Runberg just posted about his WW graphic novel: "So yesterday I've sent to our publisher and my brilliant co-author the 31 first definitives script pages of our "Wonder Woman" graphic novel. We can not tell or show more at this stage but it is really exciting to be able to give and create our own approach on such a universe and characters. Diana of course -or should I still say Princess Diana of Themyscira ? - but also some others iconic characters from our pop culture. Especially you, Mister, or you, Mister, or you, Miss...that I can't name yet. Stay tuned ! ("Wonder Woman"/Script : Sylvain Runber/Illustrations : Miki Montlllo/A 120 pages graphic novel complete story to be published in 2022 by DC Comics)"

Interesting. Wonder if it will be YA, Black Label, or regular ol' OGN.

Regular ol' OGN, I guess? It's a project in collaboration with Urban Comics that publish DC in France not unlike 2017's Batman - The Dark Prince Charming made by DC with Dargaud (a Franco-Belgian publisher).

Ah, okay. Was wondering who Urban Comics was.

Do you prefer:
Themiscryia being lost to Diana for X amount of years when she departs for Mans World
or
Her being able to come and go as she pleases from the beginning
-
Her being able to come and go as she pleases from the beginning
-
I think she can be away from it for a while but should eventually be able to come and go.
-
If it was up to me, I'd have Diana initially unable to return to Themyscira, but she would find a way to come and go as she pleases before the island becomes open to the world entirely.
Like, if I was writing Wonder Woman--at about a rate of around twelve issues per year--then I'd have Themsycira lost to her for the first three or four years of the run. Time for her to have adventures in the world of men on her own, establish her rogues, etc...because I think it's worth there being some form of consequence for Diana leaving home.
For the record, I think she should be immortal and have her powers whether she's on the island or not.
But Themyscira is too good a location with too much story potential to leave off the table. So, yeah, I'd have her there be a story where she needs to find a way back, and once she does, she can come and go as she pleases. Maybe a year or two after that, I'd have Themyscira become open to the world at large where anyone can find it, as part of the story arc of Diana bridging the gap between her home and the rest of the world.
So X amount of years, but it wouldn't be a long period of time.
-
I agree with Guy_McNights
-
Personally, I'd give her two years off the island but not have her unable to access it.
-
I definitely think that the Island needs to be lost from her for a couple of years so she can properly assimilate to life without her people and build up her supporting cast. Not to mention that her trying to find her way back home presents a fun story within itself.

Um, question: the deluxe of the 80 years celebration, does it have the entire 750 story, or just the Orlando one?

I think the description should have been better. 80 years of the amazon warrior. I'm kinda tired of how that's all they think of her these days. Not to mention how little they do with the supposedly greatest warrior ever. Why not 80 years of the amazing amazon? Or 80 years of fighting for justice, equality and truth. Something more meaningful than being DC's main warrior lady.

Ah, finally. They had that Jim Lee #750 cover as as placeholder for so long I thought that would be the cover.

Diana's Greatest Hits! :p
But yeah I would have preferred another option, the Amazing Amazon would have been puurrfect.

Yeah finally... In the description it said that it would have a new cover of Jim Lee so I assumed it was not that alternative cover #750.

The Jim Lee Wonder Woman has a pretty prominent spot. Here's to hoping that we get some type of multimedia announcement: a Yara Wonder Girl show for HBO Max, a Nubia movie for HBO Max, and/or Amazons feature film for 2023. Oooo, how could I forget a Wonder Woman animated series.
I've gotten used to speculating about Wonder Woman's world for the big screen, and I needed a multimedia fix.

I hope we get some good Wonder Woman news. We're probably still a long way from any news on a third movie. An animated series would be cool, though I have reservations about what one would end up looking like. As it stands, it looks like Diana's only presence will be the Suicide Squad game (ugh), the Injustice movie probably (double ugh), and maybe updates on comics we already know about.
Hopefully there'll something to at least counteract the double-dose of "evil Diana" we're going to get shot with.
-
I’d like an animated movie but unfortunately I’m not expecting it. Frankly other than the two “evil” versions of her in the SS game and Injustice movie I think that’s it as far as major Diana appearances in the near future. WW3 I don’t see happening earlier than 2024 at the soonest.

We might get Earth-1 Wonder Woman in a Justice League film in the new animated universe if we get one at all in 2022. Probably more likely than a solo film.

Yeah, outside of the comic WW stuff there’s nothing at this whole thing for me to look forward to.

Don't forget Cheetah potentially jobbing to Catwoman in the upcoming movie. What a wonderful way to celebrate the 80th anniversary!

Grundy is also in that movie, so fingers crossed they end up fighting each other instead of either fighting Catwoman. :p
Grundy has also jobbed to the Bat family since he is strong enough to fight Green Lantern and Superman but looses to the Bat family regularly.

In a match that should probably only take 2 seconds tops if they actually make the Cheetah use her powers as they are, likely one of the quickest people in the DC Universe will keep missing a dodging Catwoman till she figures out a way to take the Cheetah out.
But hey, I think Catwoman already took out Cheetah in the comics!

It is hard for me sometimes to stay around WW stuff. I don't like to be pesimist. But i can't help it when i see many of the things being done to this character. And this year. When she turns 80. We have more evil versions of WW where she is treated badly as most of her appearances this year. While SM and BM got new shows. harley gets a third season of her cartoon. WW still has 0. What is so hard about giving Diana a good cartoon show of her own? What is so hard about giving Diana a proper role in the DCU and not just the poster girl to stand alongside BM and SM? Is it so hard to not have her villains treated as jobber? To not see her using a sword and shield more often than her own powers? Is it so hard for them to put their money where their mouth is? Because going by statements and how much they say she matters. One would think she is one of the most powerrful, impactful and important faces of the DCU. But when the push comes to shove, they almost never show it.
-
I thought I read the Greg Weisman is writing the script for that. Is that correct?
If so, he hasn't done anything to make me panic yet. Issues with YJ in general aside, Diana was always portrayed pretty well there, way better than she ever was in the DCAU. Cassie is fine too when she appears. So while Cheetah being anywhere near a Bat-product is always nerve wracking, it may not be totally disastrous yet.

The fact that Greg Weisman is writing the script is what's making me think it won't be so bad, (but honestly I'd rather Cheetah just be in YJ than this :p).
-
Weisman is very good at writing female villains (which is why he's my top pic for a WW animated series), but Cheetah literally never comes out looking good when she's around Catwoman. Though there's a first time for everything I guess.

I have to say I am always an optimist, until I became a fan of Wonder Woman with respect to comics.
Lynda Carter Wonder Woman series I was an optimist if only because of how Lynda portrayed the character and the other fact it was it's own self contained universe, not having been tainted by other DC characters.
Perez kept the optimism going for awhile. I felt that she was respected quite a bit with her Justice League appearances and her own comic.
Then reality set in and we got the current pessimistic state of Wonder Woman in my opinion. If only they could get a strong editor that has some control over the character and supporting cast including villains not only in her title, but others that they appear in. This includes animation and live action.

We should at least get some announcement on the third film. DC has a habit of waiting too long in between sequels.

Yes, please. Lets get this trilogy over with so we can hopefully get a newer better one sooner.
