I'm admittedly enjoying the Vampire one quite a lot, to be honest. :o
Though its potential when it comes to the use of other characters is admitedly limited by the fact that, from what I've read, Tynion basically build the plot and chose many of the players, he wanted to be a Bat story and there was little that could be changed about that.
At the very least I'm going to give Rosenberg the benefit of the doubt because I thought that, terrible turning scene that is terrible and I'm not going to defend aside, his normal WW felt better than what Taylor writes (at least she didn't default to Warrior Woman archtype and seemed caring, smart and competent to the point the plot had to pull a Diabolus Ex Machina and said "hey, you need to start eating people now"). And the vampire version is entertaining, if underutilized (come on, a vampire Diana is basically a Diana who is also basically Cheetah [cursed with literal bloodthirst and painting smilies on her soul], there's a story in there, where's that spin-off?).
That being said even as someone who isn't a fan of DCeased (specially after the last issue), I don't think either are really edgy, if anything, sometimes they look somewhat tame given their respective subject matters.
They are both weak and aren’t really all that edgy at all. I cannot see either appealing to true internet edgelords.

Given WWs constant comparison to Xena and it often used as a negative...as I rewatch the series this bit made me laugh.

God, I love Xena. Such a great series that never seems to get the love it deserves.
-
I know a lot of people here won't care for one reason or another, but the Harley Quinn Animated Series references Wonder Woman 1984 in its latest episode, "Batman Begins Forever." Dr. Psycho has a radio show, and one of the upcoming calls is from Maxwell Lord who "wishes" he had a better life.
I thought that was hilarious and wanted to share.

It makes me yearn even more for a proper WW series. Just getting to the first Amazon episode...I can imagine WW having a similar episode with the Bana.

There's a script floating around for the aborted reboot that has Xena be part of Hercules's gang (and in fact is implied to have been the real brains behind the successes of his labors) before she's cast out. Hercules would have been the bad guy, Gabrille would have been a Scythian, and Callisto was meant to show up at some point too. Presumably we would have gotten the Amazons at some point, maybe Alti, etc.
It probably would have been too dark/gritty and miss some of the campy charm of the original, but Xena mixed with the tone and epicness of Historia would be AMAZING.

Absolutely! It was groundbreaking in so many ways. As Xena: Warrior Podcast coined, Xena did it first!
It’s such a shame that NBC don’t seem to know what to do with the Xena brand.

The script is by the then showrunner, Javier Grillo-Marxuach of The Middleman, Lost and Dark Crystal fame. It, along with his original “pitch” and season 1 outline are available on his website.
I greatly enjoyed parts of the pilot script, but was unsure about other parts. I believe the Scythians were to replace the Amazons as it was intended to have a more … grounded tone (i.e. there were no “gods” (Ares was going to be a warlord) or mythological beasts).
I don’t think it was intended to be anywhere near as campy / cheesy as the original series, but there was still going to be humour.

Actually yeah that's right, I recall now that Hercules was only going to be the "Son of Zeus" because he cultivated that reputation around himself, but it wouldn't be real.
It was an interesting approach with some really cool ideas. I'd rather have a big budget fantasy series for a Xena reboot, with the Greek myth elements treated with more seriousness, but some of the grounded ideas from this pitch could still be used

Even though I am not anti Xena reboot if done correctly...taking out the Gods would've been a mistake. Its like the WW film killing them all off in the first film.

Yeah. The fantasy elements are part of the appeal.
The overall pitch is really cool, but I'd change it to the Gods and monsters actually existing. So Ares would be a God, and Hercules would be the son of Zeus whose labors include the Hydra, Nemean Lion, etc. (but Xena would still play a big part in his successes).
-
I'm assuming this Xena pitch was a post-Nolan Batman "realistic and gritty" thing.

Of course. The way the person described it "The original is the myth. This is the real story"

I’ve seen people on here say that WW is treated badly by DC. But isn’t that the case with quite a few of their female characters, just that it’s more noticeable with WW because she’s such a high profile character.

It's certainly not the case with Harley Quinn :p
I can't think of any major DC female character who gets disrespected as often and as badly as Wonder Woman, Cheetah and Donna Troy.

Yes, but this is a WW subform after all.
Probably aren't going to find many people discussing their gripes with Tom King's Batman run in the Superman subforum.

I meant generally across the DC comics not just specific to the Batman section of it. I’d argue some of the supporting characters and villains associated WW don’t do the best. Cheetah springs to mind here.

I mean, yes. If WW herself isn't done well by DC then it's not likely they'll care to bring up her ancillary character/villains.
Just at look Harley as Psy-Lock brought up. Terrible and unenjoyable character all around but she'll be completely fine by virtue of her connection to Batman.

Anyone here has Wonder Woman screensavers on their cellphones? My homescreen has a dark red background with the 2017 Wonder Woman movie logo:

I like to keep it simple because the homescreen already has tons of things going on with the apps, so a WW logo will suffice for me. However, I have had difficulty finding a picture of Wonder Woman that I liked for my lockscreen. I finally found an edited image of Diana from a Trinity pic from Fortnite and I am loving it! Mainly because she is wielding her lasso (I am not 100 % opposed to Diana using a sword [there are moments that I feel are appropriate for her to do so], but I certainly feel it's a tired trope; plus her lasso is iconically Wonder Woman's, while a sword is just a meh thing that pretty much every warrior chick uses)

Anyway,
I really love this design, the fact that rarely enough it highlights the lasso, and the fact this Diana looks decently buff. The whole thing, including the outfit and the hairstyle fits with the Wrestler archetype. And she doesn't look central european like in most versions

I dont even blame BS, I blame lazy people like this video. He takes one run as fact, uses runs that dont even exist in the same continuity pretending they tie into that run, and ignores majority of her history. Not to mention he cant even say any of their names correctly.
But things like this is why WW often is not a success within DC and in varying books. They are like this dude who dont do their homework.
-
Eh, Azz was given a blank slate to what he wanted with WW in a big line-wide reboot meant to get attention/eyeballs and also be something that would influence DC's media adaptations (the animated movies, DCEU, the video games).
I have no doubt he wasn't the only person who at DC who thought the clay origin was "stupid" or wanted to make the Amazons "more realistic" but Azz wasn't some two-bit writer they hired off the street. He deserves as much blame as DC at large does for pushing such an unlikeable incarnation of WW and the Amazons in other media during the early 2010s; comics, the New 52 movies, the garbage Injustice franchise.
-
After saying he wouldn't touch her origin, iirc.
-
Zeus being her dad was an editorial mandate I feel, but the Amazons raping passing sailors to reproduce and killing them afterwards? Keeping the girls and selling the boys to Hephaestus? Yeah that was 100% on Azz.
