As fun as them all existing in the same world can be, honestly I think most of the characters would be better off in their own continuity. At the very least it erases power wars and questions of worth within a lore.
Like the stupid argument of "why doesn't so-and-so call this person when stuff happens."
I'll say though, if it wasn't for Wonder Woman existing in the greater DC Universe she probably wouldn't be as popular as she is today. How many female superheroes have their own solo books that don't in some way have there hero identity tied to a man or didn't debut in a superhero team book?
It's her visits in other heroes books that help keep her relevant. I'd like to think it's more than that, but maybe it's not. We won't know because we don't exist in a world where Wonder Woman wasn't tied to every major event in DC comics.

Or she could be in a better position. She hasn't played a big part in most major events in DC. She is just there for the most part. That's hardly an achievement. DC has hardly done much to keep her relevant anyway. WW was a major game changer when she first appeared. So i have no doubt that she could have done just fine in another label that isn't DC.
I know I'm late for this conversation, but wouldn't telepathy make the lasso pointless?
No because the lasso is way faster. And telepathy also isn't an indestructible rope that can stretch to infinity. :p

I assume telepathy is much more instantaneous, but it could have other limitations.
I assume telepathy is much more instantaneous, but it could have other limitations.
Wonder Woman herself can move faster than thought, she's constantly shown blocking bullets after all. So she could wrap most villains in the lasso and make them start talking long before a telepath could.
Plus there's all that talk about "mental barriers" (Marvel loves using that against telepaths). The lasso can cut through that entirely, so it won't matter if you have "mental barriers" or not.

She played a huge part in the most recent event, she literally reset DC continuity (or made all continuity cannon or something). DC is celebrating her 80th anniversary will a whole bunch of new books. And her current book hasn't had this much attention since Rucka's run.

Right, after literally more than 30 years of almost nothing in terms of being a major player in an event. And let's see how much of this attention is actually good, and if it lasts beyond 2021. Because the likes of BM and SM have had a lot of attention outside of anniversary years. But WW?, not at all. So again, time for DC to put their money where their mouth is or stop hyping her up only to come out short.
-
It's fair to criticize DC for being, largely, poor caretakers of the character that's all fairly well-documented throughout her history but let's not be entirely ungrateful when they seem to actually be doing some good stuff. Lord knows I got some sour grapes over Death Metal being a "Wonder Woman story" but I'm actually liking the WW stuff they seemed to have lined up at the moment.

What they are doing in 2021 won't be enough to compensate for decades of bad treatment. I just lost all hope with DC. So i won't hold my breath. I will believe it when i see it.

azz run does not deserve to be celebrated in WW anniversary in my opinion. He is one of the main reasons why her character and verse have suffered so much this past decade.

Hmm, might get the Azz New 52 stuff if they also do deluxe collections of the rest of the run but I guess nice they're collecting the other stuff even if I'm not interested.

I'm mixed. Daddy Zeus and the demonization of the Amazons can go straight to the pit, yes, but there's some stuff there I think that's worthwhile. We at least got rid of the Amazons being sex-pirates, so hopefully Daddy Zeus isn't entirely insurmountable either.

The best way to let DC know we don't care is to buy the Perez/Rucka/Jiminez stuff and celebrate them more.

So I had a question that I have asked elsewhere, but never actually got a good response, so I figured I would ask here. Obviously Wonder Woman throughout her comic book history has dealt with abuse victims who were female, but I was wondering if she has ever actually dealt with abuse victims who were male? And by that I mean with a female abusing a male, i.e. Wife abusing her husband or kids, on panel before?

The best answer I can think of, at least off the top of my head, would be back in the golden age where Diana would stop evil women that would subjugate men under a brutal rule. Think Queen Clea, Eviless, Atomica, etc... But modern day? I'm not to sure tbh. That sort of nuance gets lost with a lot mainstream writers. I'm sure there is a few instances where Diana has saved children from an abusive wife or caretaker but, idk about saving a husband from an abusive wife though that is something she would do.
Diana did give that speech about responsibility to all those people who were being controlled? manipulated? freed from commitment? by Atalanties in GWW's run. She chastised a woman for abandoning her family/husband to be with the babysitter.
-
Weren't the Bana Migdhall depicted as enslaving men and it was Diana who stopped it?

Ok that is a better answer then I normally get when I ask this question. Still I would love to ask one of Wonder Woman's writers that.
Weren't the Bana Migdhall depicted as enslaving men and it was Diana who stopped it?
Wouldn't be surprised; but I was more referring to an individual committing abuse, rather then a abusive culture.

I'm having a flash back about that HBO Max "DC Villains" movie and the only Wonder Woman villain he mentioned was Cheetah. Cool, Wonder Woman gets the spot light on one villain for 30 seconds.
It was his version too of course. At least his Cheetah 1 v 6 the Justice League rather easily and was reveled she lost the battle on purpose so she could get into Belle Reve.

Huh, so there's a Wonder Woman audio drama series going on at the moment.
Wonder Woman: Heartless centers on Diana Prince dealing with the consequences of a politically divided public responding to a series of high-profile murders — and finding her belief in the justice system challenged in the process.
The story pits Diana Prince (Wonder Woman), Jill Carlyle (Crimson Avenger), and British archeologist Dr. Barbara Minerva against two sisters — one, a serial killer who is terrorizing Washington DC by magically seizing the hearts of her victims, and the other whose powers might potentially be used to stop the killing streak

There is a life size model of Wonder Woman in her Golden Eagle armor from WW84 on display at The Children's Museum of Indianapolis for their superhero exhibit. There is also apparently a fiberglass model of Cheetah as well, perched above Wonder Woman.

I watched Wonder Woman (2009) for the first time in years. For some reason, I'd convinced myself I didn't like this film, but I enjoyed it much more than I remembered. I think it's mainly Steve's characterization that irks in this film, but once I get over that, it is much more enjoyable.
I forgot that the final battle was in D.C. I know there's a lot of debate here about Diana's home city, but she really does work in D.C. It's just a perfect fit. I loved the animation, the voice acting, the use of Ares, and the ending credit with Cheetah. I wish this world come have continued, but I could settle for an Animated Series.
Here's hoping the Justice Society movie does right by Diana and Steve.
