What is there to be an outcry about? She is the first known superhero on E2. Metas are named Wonders, after Wonder Woman. She was Queen of the Amazons. The Trinity are guest stars in E2, they all perish within the first 2 issues.
Outcry that she would hook up with Steppenwolf. How she ignominiously dies with a sword to her back. How there is apparently no more to this story than what you just told me.
But if you were satisfied with her in this arc, then I cannot argue the point anymore.
Was anyone else not satisfied that there was no more backstory with this version of Wonder Woman? I mean she had a daughter, but all we got out of this was her death and one of the worst hookups in comics!

It's a different Earth, you're acting as if this is the main WW whose faced Steppenwolf. The New Gods were a mystery so how would she know anything about him? The first issue of the entire series starts off with the invasion. You are acting like Batman and Superman got so much more story.

I am not talking about Batman or Superman. Don't care about them. I care about Wonder Woman, and in any of the alternate earths, if she is in the picture, so to speak, then this is a main WW (of that universe) who just bedded and died by the hands of Steppenwolf. It deserves more of a backstory than what you just described. How in any universe does a guy like Steppenwolf get together with Diana? Sounds too out of character for this to happen, unless, of course it is a stupid plot device. But I would have liked to know this. As it is, I am glad I missed this 'event'.
Again, if you are satisfied with her, then I cannot argue with you on this anymore. But go ahead, throw in characters that I have not mentioned besides SW, WW or Fury. I am not sure why you would or if you are arguing a point just to be contrary or play Devil's advocate.

You seem like you expect to get all the facts within the first issue that you havent read. It's very obvious that Steppenwolf was a wolf in sheeps clothing when he first met WW, one cant say its out of character for an alternate WW that is different from the main WW. We came in at the end of the Trinitys stories with plenty of mysteries to unfold. James Robinson never got to finish his story properly.

So, with Hunter, you suggest there should be a male Wonder family member? I think the editorial contempt, since Kanigher, has been such, that writers and editors could not imagine Wonder men or boys or any superhuman males following Diana, into battle, ..or that fans wanted to see that. Has that changed, with the younger fans?
And let me clarify, that ..we TV show fans, mostly young and male and largely straight, NEVER had a problem, with it. We had General Andros and Bryce Candle, the Man Who Couldn't Die, and, for every generic female ally, that Diana had on TV and in comics, ..it was really something to see super-guys following her into the action! We were ready for progressive ideas in 1977, that many WW fans, young enough to be our grandchildren, ..openly reject, today.
Is the support for Hunter, Achilles, Rama or, now, Siguror (Siggy) ..really there?

I don't see why there shouldnt be a Wonder Boy. But they would have to actually care about her sidekicks being an active part of her ongoing before ever really introducing a male sidekick imo.

Since, as you say, this seems to be an unfinished product of which we will probably never get answers for, I don't see how my questioning of the why Diana did things like hook up with Steppenwold weren't valid. Why isn't this a finished product, and if this is Earth-2, are there other series out there that is till being continued in this universe?

Wonder Boy isn't a bad concept and I think there should be one. However, Diana doesn't have a good track record with the Wonder Girls, she's not as involved with Cassie and Donna as she should be or could have been. Wonder Boy would probably wind up in a similar situation.

Her hooking up with Steppenwolf and having a daughter isn't a big question to be answered? And, the fact that she has a daughter with SW as a father is a betrayal to the character in my opinion. But....if you like that, then I will have to agree to disagree. But that is a major plot point left unresolved!
By the way, how many daughters in recent years has Diana had? I would think that in whatever continuity that her having one should be a pretty major plotline. And yes, I would like to know the how and why this would have happened.

I didn't say it isn't a big question to be answered but that it doesn't need to be automatically answered at first sight of Fury. It's like Dawn in S5 of Buffy. Took us half a season to find out her origins.

If Earth2 isn't being published anymore, I am afraid we will not see a season 5 version of it in order to see how this hookup happened, or how he stole her baby/daughter to raise by his lonesome.
Besides, just doing a google search for WW + SW + daughter led me to some sites with comments the same as mine, so I know that it is just not me with these complaints/questions.
Alot of the people are asking if Fury was a clone, did SW rape WW or something to that effect. Not many of them, if any, thought that Diana + SW was a voluntary hookup.

Thats to be expected. DC did what DC did best and we're left with questions to a story that is probably retconned at this point anyway.
We know she isn't her clone since Di stated it was her daughter.

That makes sense to me.
Catwoman, Batgirl, Mary Marvel, Supergirl, Steel, Huntress, Mon-El, Golden Guardian typically show up, for team-ups and high-stakes stories. None of the superhero siblings or lieutenants are around, all of the time. So, why can't Prince Jason drop by, to help the other Wonders, once in a while, as the other friend-heroes do, ..before returning to his duties, imprisoning the Dark Gods, in their dimension? I don't see any reason why he should be excluded from happenings, in the Wonderverse.
While I would like to see Jason, maybe, a brown or red-haired, reintroduced, ..I like to think that Siguror (Siggy) is going to fill that too long-empty male Wonder role, going forward. I can think of SEVEN REASONS why Siggy will succeed, ..where Hunter Prince, Prince Jason, Orion, Lennox, Warkiller, Rama, Champion and Hercules have failed, so miserably, as male Wonders:
1) Siggy has cool, superhuman powers, ..like Wonder Woman's!
2) Siggy has a cool, colorful, potentially iconic costume.
3) Siggy is narratively compatible (a good fit), with the main supporting characters - Etta, Col. Steve and the Queen.
4) Siggy, unlike Hunter Prince, Prince Jason, Warkiller and Champion, ..is NOT too much.
5) Siggy is NOT a ranking 'Wonder', by origin, ..but is an independent adventurer and follows Wonder Woman's lead, by choice.
6) Siggy is a good representation of males and (like Steel and Batwoman) easy to identify with.
7) Siggy is actually a FUN character! [Wha-auut? Fun...in comics?]
I think there are guys, who read the comic, but don't easily identify with Hercules, Warkiller or Prince Jason - I don't. Do you?
We don't want to see superhuman males take over the comic, either. I think we just want a traditionally masculine, male, Wonder family member, we can power-fantasy and identify with, ..as ladies do, with Wonder Girl, Batgirl or Supergirl, in the other comics. We want the same stupid thing! It's a big Wonderverse, and there's no reason for Jason, Siggy, Hercules, Mister Genie or the Golden Age Wonder Boy to be left behind or left out.
Or a Roman cousin, Virbius Rex Nemorensis... https://wondabunga.blogspot.com/2021/08/wonda-myths-does-wonder-woman-have.html
We should welcome this! Thank you for posting this, King.

Seems like the Wonder Woman 3 hype train might be closer to us than what we thought. Jeff Conway is an Emmy-nominated TV host and Forbes Magazine Senior Contributor. Rumor has it that this upcoming interview will confirm some of the stuff that many of us hoped for the second sequel (Circe as villain, Nubia introduced) and something that was speculated by others (Cheetah returning). In any case, I don't think this somewhat high-profile interview will NOT touch on Wonder Woman 3. What else is there to promote right at this moment for both Gal and Patty?

DC Comics Writers Had Rewrites Over The Death Of The Justice League
One of the notable aspects of Justice League #75, featuring the death of the Justice League, was that it was meant to be set in the near future so that individual Justice League character books could continue with a) the lead character still alive and b) everyone else not having to react to the news that the Justice League were dead.
However, I'm told that this could only go so far. Gossip coming out of Fan Expo Philadelphia is that creative teams were informed that they were going to have to deal with their lead characters being dead after all. It came as a bit of a surprise to many who found themselves having to rewrite their comic books on the fly. Especially if their character had recently died and already been revived…
It's not the first time DC Comics has done this, during Death Metal, with 5G about to hit, creative teams were told to prepare to suddenly age their characters to fit the new timeline, at some yet-to-be-determined point. Of course, that then didn't happen. This one is…

OH wow, I really hope this is all true!
They could've easily used Nubia at the end of 1984 instead of Lynda Carter's random cameo, but I'll be happy if she does show up. And Circe and Cheetah in the mix would be a dream come true.

Heaven forbid other writers be allowed to write what they want rather than tie into Williamson's 90s pandering nonsense.
If this turns the book into the Yara show I'm dropping the book.

Cloonrad always seem excited when they tweet out their teases for upcoming WW plots. It's so unfair to them to do this for what will no doubt be an incredibly forgettable crossover.
We finally have a creative team who wants to do deep cuts on Diana's supporting cast and villains, so of course Diana herself can't be part of the proceedings. Typical.
If this screws up WW and Action Comics, I'm dropping DC aside from Historia and World's Finest.

They really need to make it all women at the forefront of this and ramp up the action. Diana, Barbara, Nubia, Hippolyta, and Circe being the leads in an epic fantasy-superhero film would be amazing. Ideally Donna would have been in there too, but probably not.
A small cameo from Steve in a dream/memory/hallucination wouldn't be unwelcome, but absolutely nothing beyond that.

So...cancel the action figure line? Little boys won't buy an all-girl action figure line, ..merchandising a film, that makes them irrelevant.
I suppose the merchandising could include Astro-Glider Orion, Twisting Lightning-strike Prince Jason and Tank-commander Hercules. Being perfect judges of fun, that they are, little and middle school aged boys probably won't care, that 'their guys' aren't in the movie ..and will buy the dolls, anyway. The playsets better be the bomb - I mean fully loaded, with all kinds of bells and whistles, death-traps, lasers and rockets, sharks and krakens! If WB is lucky...
One of them might even buy a Wonder Woman figure, ..if she's got a cool enough sword and desert-camouflage variant uniform. And an invisible TANK!
There's batgirl, Supergirl, She-Hulk...Batwoman. Don't lock out the boys, Siege. trust me, on this.

They didn't do an action figure line for WW84, why should they have to do one for this third film?
There's batgirl, Supergirl, She-Hulk...Batwoman. Don't lock out the boys, Siege. trust me, on this.
There are plenty of boys who would want to buy WW related action figures of female characters. So the boys aren't being locked out. The issue would be their parents not wanting them to play with "girly dolls". Plus they could make action figures of any monsters.
The less Jason, Hercules and Orion (who is never coming back to the pages of WW most likely) action figures we get when resources could go towards actual WW characters, the better.
They didn't do an action figure line for WW84, why should they have to do one for this third film?
Also this.
-
WW84 did have McFarlane figures but those were very likely only done out of obligation to appease WB to tie in the to movie. His WW stuff since then has been alt-Diana costumes, he hasn't even done an evergreen comics Wonder Woman like he has for multiple Supermen and Batmen.
And that's just his larger issue of not doing female figures in general outside of Batgirl, WW, and Harley.

Most major action figure lines (Star Wars, Transformers, Marvel, WWE etc) have female figures and that's before getting into the fact Action Figures are increasingly becoming an older collector's audience oriented thing.
And yeah, speaking as a collector I'd want stuff for Hippolyta, Circe, Artemis, etc before I'd even touch a Jason figure.
-
As a fan of statues, I'd gladly drop like 250-500 hundoes on a highly detailed collectable statue that I can put on my shelf or desk over a 15-dollar action figure.
Like Gaius points out, action figures are becoming more of a hobby for older collectors than kids. Most kids seem interested less in action figures and more in video games, plushies, and replica accessories that they can play with (tiara, gauntlets, sword/shield). Adults and kids will also by stuff with printed logos on it too like cups, shirts, pajamas, etc. Not say that kids don't buy the occasional action figure, but it's just not the same market as it used to be, its lost value in that demographic.
Also, who in their right mind wants an action figure of Jason and Hercules? both characters with terrible track records in the comics. Orion, who will likely never be seen in a WW comic again, has the benefit of being a new god, not tied to the Wonder mythos, he's going to have a figure regardless.
-
For male figures, there are more obvious contenders like Steve and Ferdinand, who are certainly more well liked than Jason. And for a villain, Ares qualifies. Hercules should also only get one if he's a villain.
-

BRAVO.
And I am so confused about the poster who laments "locking boys out of" the potential toy line for WW3. Who cares? Girls have been locked out of the marketing for most superhero films ever. Welcome to the real world, boys. I have always said what you wrote, Siege. WW3 needs to be all about the women in Wondy's world. Circe/Hecate, Cheetah, Nubia, Hippolyta, the amazons, the goddesses, Julia et al. Make it unapologetically female centric. As long as you don't present any "all men are evil" narrative that alienates male audiences and as long as you truly have kickass action setpieces, people of all genders will watch.

While on the topic of female action figures and McFarlane, didn't he get into a bit of controversy recently when he implied that parents buying their sons action figures of female characters might make them a "serial killer"?
As a kid, I bought almost female action figures almost exclusively, and I'm sure there are plenty of boys who do the same. Even my childhood friends who weren't nearly as effeminate as I was at least had a couple gals and liked 'em all the same.
They didn't do an action figure line for WW84, why should they have to do one for this third film?
Did you see WW84? They didn't do an action figure line, because why bother? No self-respecting boy would want a WW84 action figure, because it was bloody awful. LOL
Characters don't have to be in a movie, to be made into action figures for a tie-in line. Jor-El and General Zod were in Superman: The Movie, only minimally, but were major features, in the Mego tie-in line. It was the same, with Robin in the Batman Returns line and Nubia in the Wonder Woman TV show line. Boys totally don't care! We just wanted COOL toys, vehicles and playsets!
If I am a nine y/o boy, and you entice me to solicit my parents to buy Twisting Lightning-Strike Jason and Astro-Glider Orion, ..the subsequent purchases of Wonder Woman, Doctor Poison's Ghost and/or Queen Hippolyta are practically inevitable...even if I don't really want them? How's that going to be litigated, with Mama in the toy store ..and the boys, in the backyard? "I've got Lightning-Strike Jason and his buddy, Orion--since Wonder Woman's his sister, guess I should get her, too! Right?"
When I was a boy, entreating my parents for pricey, 12 inch Superman: The Movie figures, in 1978, I didn't care a whit about getting a Jor-El action figure. Yet, there he was, and he's Superman's daddy - had to get him, and God bless the marketing genius, who got him into that toy line. Genius!
Action figure merchandising, like all tie-in merchandising, isn't about paying tribute to the movie or the superhero comic, that inspired it, ..or even the fans. Action figure lines are all about trademark-holders and film-makers cashing in on the popularity of a movie, ..anyway, they can. If I've got to shoe-horn a Turbo Lowrider Snoop Dogg action figure into a Martha Stewart Story tie-in line, to incentivize little boys to buy his good friend, the Orchard Stroll Martha Stewart figure, ..one or two of her doll-girlfriends ..AND a Martha's Melrose Orchard Gazebo Playset, ..then, Snoop's going in the line, because that's how I'm going to make my money.
So, should Wonder Woman III merchandise Pride Parade Rainbow Armor Warkiller action figures and his character-themed vehicle or giant, flying elephant, ..almost guaranteeing you'll buy his pal, Pride Parade Rainbow Camouflage Etta and her matching JEEP? That's how I wound up with a 12 inch Kenner Princess Leia Organa action figure (with hair brush), that I didn't initially want, way back in 1977. Why not, if it will make WB, some money?
I am also in complete agreement, that today's kids aren't after action figures, in the way, we were.

Given how expansive WW's mythological world can get, I think they should invest in more interactive toys like Legos.
Right?"

Cuz it's not dead, yet?
I don't have kids or even see kids, that much, ..but, when one of these big movies comes out, the Targets' toy aisles are a scattered mess, and, everywhere there's children - the malls, restaurants, wherever - there are action figures, all over the place! That's why.
There's money to be made.
Yeah, to the surprise of no one McFarlane's jackass.

Kids love awful movies. I don't see what adult reviews have to do with kid toy lines...
I mean, Batman & Robin people...
