Lol I appreciate you all indulging me. I always enjoy connecting the dots for these kinds of things, so writers like PKJ who like to leave lots of clues really do it for me.
Hopefully dead? I'd prefer if only Clark ends up living for thousands of years.
Well, we already know Kara is alive and well in the 31st century from the Action Comics Annual that gets back to House of El. And PKJ did say that not every El who lived to the 31st century was shown in Future State: House of El. That could me *just* Kara as well, but if Jon's already more powerful than both Clark or Kara at the age of 17, I'd be shocked if he just died from old age or something before either of them.
But my big thing is why would he say it's a "spoiler" if the idea wasn't to address it in some more important way than "well, he's dead" or even "well, he's fine".

Regardless of how it plays out, I like Mongul going big in this whole thing. I believe he had a panel in the GL book a few issues ago laughing at the sight of the central power battery blowing up. That was cool.

Somehow I didn't connect the dots before, but it's just now dawning on me that rather than a potential romantic relationship between Jon and Thao-La like I'd originally theorized, maybe it's going to be more of a brother/sister relationship?
For one, Lois has already seemed to form a strong bond with Thao-La (Clark even comments on this), and it has a very motherly feel to it. And, funny enough, you even have a hyper dramatic version of "mom and dad bring home a new kid, and I, the first kid, am not happy about it" with Jon being uncharacteristically unhappy about Thao being here. Granted we know the real reason Jon isn't happy about all this and lashing out is because of what he knows of the future...but it still ironically plays nearly perfect as "this new kid is taking my daddy's attention away from me, and now I'm no longer the baby of the family". But it's written large and on a cosmic scale because what we're really talking about is Clark going away to save Thao's people, and Jon having to grow up and be Superman.
This whole thing dawned on me because I noticed Thao-La mention that her brother got taken away by the warworld bloodpriests, so it's likely he's no long living or will die in the arc, and that's a void that can be filled. And with Thao's potential disillusionment with the idea of Superman added to Jon likely still being bitter that his dad had to go away, you've got the potential from some sibling friction that comes from an understandable place.
__________
You guys remember the shape shifting protoplasmic Supergirl, Matrix, from the late 80s created by Byrne? Remember how she was actually taken in by Ma and Pa, and they thought of her as a daughter? This feels like it could potentially be inspired by that, but with Lois taking on the Ma and Pa role and Jon obviously being the Superman in question.

I definitely could see this factoring into things. I think the connection between Lois and Thao-La will be a big factor in things going forward. The cover to August's issue of AC makes it look like she's going to turn against them and with Lois being the only person at the fortress. I think it could be a Emperor/Darth Vader type moment, where Thao-La turns on Mongul to protect Lois at that point.

To add to that, in the same line of dialog where she's talking about how her brother was taken away, she actually first mentions that her parents were taken away even before that.
PKJ seemed to take a moment to make sure we knew that she has no immediate family and is currently an orphan.
With Jon away at college, Lois may take in Thao, and similar to how Clark would visit home in the Byrne days to see Ma, Pa, and Matrix, I could see Jon visiting home to see Lois and Thao.
Even though the back-ups seem to no longer be a thing when Son of Kal-El launches (no sign of them for the next 3 months in SOK), they could show up again once Lois takes in Thao down the line?
That way Taylor wouldn't have to stop the story he's telling with Jon to work on Thao, and we'd get some Lois and Metropolis stuff. If she does in fact become Supergirl (with Kara as Superwoman), I could very much see DC making the Supergirl book a back-up in the Son of Kal-El book. They've done it with Justice League Dark as a back-up to Justice League.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’s last issue will be in January 2022.
The Supergirl television show ends in November 2021.
DC Comics February 2022 solicitations will be around mid November 2021.
If your theory is correct, everything is preceding to have Kara renamed as Superwoman by March 2022.
And Thao La starting as the new Supergirl by then.

One of the reasons why I don't really like Kara.

Maybe to keep it "secret" so that future writers can do whatever they want with that time period. But no, you are likely right.

Yeah, that more or less checks out. Especially given the fact that spring going into summer is usually when DC does a lot of its new drops.
In the meantime you build her up slowly in the back-ups/background similar to how Matrix was built up overtime in the late 80s and early 90s.
On top of that it'll actually be right on schedule to promote Supergirl in the Flashpoint movie coming out in November 2022. And it's worth mentioning that the Supergirl in that film is a person of color, and she'd been enslaved/held captive for a number of years similar to Thao-La.

Well, he did specifically say that was a "spoiler" (implied for something he was doing) and not something more along the lines of "well, we don't really get into that in my story". The latter would be a more open ended answer than specifically saying "spoiler".

Also I may be mistaken, but in the current Crime Sydicate mini series. Did they rename the evil Super-Woman, as Superia?
That leaves more evidence as making Kara the only Superwoman in name.
Even the Lana Lang series didn’t have that.
And I do think DC wants to keep the Superwomsn trademark, like Batwoman.

You're not at all mistaken. They seem to be freeing up the Superwoman name, and specifically disassociating it from the Earth-3 version just in time for Kara to seemingly take it.
They clearly want to keep the Supergirl trademark perpetuating in the comics while Kara moves on from it, so in comes Thao-La, I'm guessing.

On the aesthetics side, I’m curious how they will do it?
Full body suit with legs covered for Kara?(like her Future State outfit)
The traditional skirt for Thao? Something closer to the new 52 outfit?

My guess would be that Thao gets the full body covering similar to the upcoming Flashpoint Supergirl suit and the Future State suit, and Kara gets a look closer to the more regal Superwoman look she had in Future State: Superwoman.
Thao's already wearing something similar now once Clark and the Superman family got her out of her worn down Warworld clothes.

Slight tangent but I like the idea that while Jon is insanely powerful and long-lived the human side of him demands basic needs like food and sleep (whereas Clark doesn’t biologically need these things). It’s cool to see all that enormous power contrasted against small human vulnerabilities, like in FS SM/WW where Jon could casually punch out a sun god but his biggest fear was oversleeping. Iirc his facial scar was supposed to be a visual reminder that he’s half-human too.

Where would Ruthye fit into this I wonder? King said that she would be a very important character going forward.

I'm still bothered by the idea of a character who has so far not have any meaningful interaction with Kara be the successor to the Supergirl mantle, but I do find it likely. As for Thao-La staying with Lois, it would admittedly be a pretty cool idea, but I'm not sure whether I'd prefer that or for her to go to Warworld with Clark.
