Her original origin had her name on the toy bear that she was found with, right? Since Donna actually ended up being the name that was on her birth certificate... or was it that her adopted parents gave to her? Either way. Donna was definitely a given name, not a chosen one.
But there's no reason Troy/Troia/etc can't also be a given name.

I was wrong. Went back to New Teen Titans #38 and "Hello my name is Donna" was written on the clothes of a doll that Robin found when he and Donna went back to the burnt apartment looking for clues to who her parents were. She actually didn't know her real name until Robin confirmed it from the doll. You are right - Donna was her birth name.
I agree - no reason why Troy/Troia couldn't also be a given name. I like the idea of Donna taking on an Amazon name, especially one named after a Greek city who has a history with Amazons. For example, Penthesilea, Hippolyta's sister, assisted Troy in the Trojan War and was killed by Achilles. Perhaps the name Troy was a way to pay homage to Hippolyta's fallen sister.

She could be given a name but Greg has confirmed that she doesnt go by Donna. If she does that would be a new development.

Can't say I ever liked Troia as a name. Donna Troy or even just Troy is better, IMHO.

I prefer Donna Troy with Troia as her nickname or codename.

Right, I was saying that perhaps Troia is the name that she was given by the Amazons and that Troia is that name.
