We saw their connection ignite in Age of Ultron and moreso in Civil War. Then I got to Infinity War, and it was like "wait, did I miss a movie here?" lol

Haha, we kinda did.
Honestly their relationship didn't initially work for me because they didn't seem that into each other in Civil War and actually fought on opposite sides, then in IW they're a couple after two years of off-screen romance and I was like "What the hell?" But his death was sad, and WandaVision made them into a good couple.
Hm I think you watched CW wrong if you thought they "didn't seem that into each other". :p But it's true that there was no proper transition between that and full-on couple together for 2 years.

Haha, I saw them as friends, then he tried to keep her inside, then she blasted him down several floors, then though joined opposite teams. Not a good start for a healthy relationship. Plus by that point I was annoyed with bad MCU relationships and didn't really want any anymore. Of course, we got several unnecessary romances in Civil War, Dr. Strange and Black Panther. Thank goodness for Ragnarok and Captain Marvel not following suit

Wanda and Quicksilver combined into Silver Witch.

A lot of relationship development in the MCU happens off-screen.

yeah, yet most of the on-screen relationships aren't great. Why do they keep forcing them in there?

I mean, generally because romance is important to Superheroes and they have established relationships with these people?

But how important is it really if they keep breaking up with each other? Where's the permanent long-term relationships?
Plus, we barely have time for that in the movies. If they can't fit it into the plot, maybe they shouldn't

I mean, that's more of an issue in the comics than the movies.
The pacing is tight in the films but I guess they see it as core and relevant enough to still make it a plot point (and it usually justifies the female lead to some extent).

But they rarely do a good job in the movies so far. Plus why can't a female lead not be in a romance?

>“The prophecy had to do with her destroying the world." reveals showrunner Jac Schaeffer, "So she’s fighting her identity as the Scarlet Witch, because she doesn’t want to be the person who destroys the world. That was the thing that she was really, really afraid of. Wanda would then figure out that in order to fulfill the prophecy, she simply had to destroy the hex and free the residents of Westview. Simple as that, a classic case of prophecy wordplay."
Wait, so if I'm understanding this correctly, the prophecy wasn't some big set up for Wanda to become a boogeyman like people thought, and it was simply a hint that she would destroy the world she created (the Hex)??? I feel like this a big deal and more people should know about it, because that wasn't clear to many fans at all, and many people are expecting a payoff to the prophecy.

Well, I think it's a case-by-case basis, but usually the male and female lead are romantically involved if only because they're usually the central relationship with each other.
