If things were really that sour they wouldn't have been at the gala dancing and Storm certainly wouldn't still be appearing in the next run of BP. I know you don't want them together but this is super saiyan level reaching lol.
They weren’t shown together at the gala lol. And outside two generic covers Storm hasn’t been referenced in any solicits or rumors about the upcoming BP book. It’s reaching to say that after a woman breaks into her man’s home, beats up his sister, berates him publicly, and after he deletes all contact with her and tells her not to return they’re no longer together lol. That sounds perfectly logical.
It was more explicit in AvX because they were married and it was handled more softly here because it was a black woman writing the break up but there’s no way to look at that issue as anything other than two friends with benefits having a falling out. Maybe they get back together but most signs since seem to indicate they’re no longer seeing each other romantically despite their feelings.

Tchalla represents Wakanda and Ororo is a representative of Krakoa who also was on mars terraforming the planet. Them not being shown talking is just that and doesn't indicate they are not together.
She's literally in his next run appearing on the covers of the first two issues, so of they were not together why would she be there. As Coates mentioned he understands its possible another writer will come along and break them up but it simply hasn't happened yet. you are jumping the gun here boo.
also a black woman didn't write that break up. it was Jason Aaron.

Thanks Butterflykyssfor the welcome, indeed I knew when that page hit it be the long deserved talk of the Stormy Town and it is good to see this respect given to Storm with such amazing artwork and IMO one of the best writer at Marvel right now Al Ewing! :)
Also we has that heartwarming moment with My Scarlet Witch at the end of the issue with amazing done drawing and inking, Both ladies looked incredible! I got 2 Goddesses for the price of 1 issue each with positively talked about moments. :)

yes the moment at the end was such a beautiful surprise. It definitely had me in my feels after seeing Ororo's moment to then see Wanda reconnect and reconcile with her father. the issue overall was just phenomenal read all the way around.

It doesnt matter much here or there to me at this point, was never a fan of the union. However i will say id love for Storms progression to not be hindered by anything and that includes her Wakandan history excluding her Hadari Yao realization.
I don't know what they're plans are for the couple but let it be organic and not annoyingly handled. I remember back when she married him i thought it would put her at the forefront but she became a trophy wife and wallpaper.
The divorce was the best thing at the time to me lol but Coates did his thing and now Ewing is here building on that. Im not a big BP fan tbh so my interests really are just STORM..and her STORY. Shes an all powerful being and that was intended from go and i dont want the current progress messed up. Wakanda was an era for her but Storm is and always will be an X-man, a goddess and now the queen of heaven, REGENT and voice for a star system. Shes all those things, no longer the queen of Wakanda
I know black love is scarce in Marvel but it just never clicked for me but going forward i hope whatever happens that it works on HER time now because it is HER time now to break out of a decades old character stasis.

You said they were at the gala dancing, that never happened. They were in the same space for a time at least, as they’re both shown in a splash page in X-Force but not together or interacting. T’Challa spent more time with Namor than he did Storm at the Hellfire Gala. But that’s not conclusive evidence I admit.
She appears in a basic #1 cover that shows the Avengers, an outdated Shuri costume, and random tribesmen. The Alex Ross art is a depiction of where T’Challa was left off by Coates in the greater MU not a sign of things to come. The cover for #2 is the same thing, nothing related to the actual story in the solicits. We see a bunch of space ships but we already know for a fact this isn’t a cosmic arc for example. Coates said they can date other people because the way he left them (which keep in mind takes place before Marauders before the delays messed up the scheduling) they weren’t committed to each other in any official way.
Marauders says the same when Shuri says her and T’Challa are close to fully reconnecting, recognizing that while they do things a couple would do, they’re not official (and thus not exclusive). This gets built up on in X-Force when she’s flirting with Wolverine and there’s not a single mention of T’Challa but Storm is quick to bring up Jean lol. Coates isn’t saying a writer can break them up, he’s saying they’re not together in the first place. Marauders just made it so they’re not only not together, they’re not friends with benefits anymore either lol.
I think you’re reaching butterflykyss. But I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Either way Storm’s arc is bigger than her ties to Wakanda, she’s operating on a much higher level than Earth stuff now which is the most important thing for her character IMO.

For those who were critical of their union for this reason always was mind boggling. She was nothing more than a supporting character after uncanny by Claremont and then after the annulled marriage that trend very much continued if not got worse. It seemed her being a supporting character was only an issue when it occurred outside the xbooks but was fine so long as she was playing this part in an xbook

1. I was referring to shuri dancing with wiz kid. if wakanda had bad blood with krakoa they would be more icy than that.
2. even if we are to assume the cover is meant to represent the past and not indicate where the current book is at, why would storm then appear on the issue 2 cover if they are not together? that doesn't make any sense for a franchise to put a character tchalla is not involved with on their cover two times in a row.
3. Coates canonical depiction of ororo and tchalla most certainly indicates they are together and that was very clear by the end if his run. to suggest otherwise isn't anywhere close to canon and what was shown within the book.
4. I dont have to reach when the scans speak for me:

they are very much a thing at the end of his run and she is still on the bp covers on the next run. makes sense to conclude they are together.
-
Unfortunately due to Coates storytelling and the publication schedule, the concluding issue of his BP run essentially takes place before the entire current Avengers run and most of Hickman's X-run, so where they were at in those pages doesn't reflect their current status. That's essentially months ago in-universe; before Storm stole the sword and well-before her helping to geoengineer Mars and becoming Regent of Sol.
Notice T'Challa and Ororo were not even talking to each other at the Gala, let alone presented as a couple. Why would Wakanda be so politically opposed to Krakoa if they were still together(especially since Ororo single-handedly saved the country in vol 1 and was instrumental to them fending off and usurping the Galactic Empire in vol 2)?

I am indeed Very Impressed, this all has been an Amazing Last 2 weeks for her, maybe some of the BEST I have seen if 2 weeks for her in LONG TIME!
I was away on Vacation at Disney World Last Week when Planet Sized X-Men Shock the Solar System Canon of Marvel to a Literal CORE in a way I never thought I would see, I hope they keep thing up these massive and bold moves and many stick!
So while I was away I never got to ask and now With this week added onto of this all, HOW Does this All Feel and Mean to Longtime Storm Fans!?
This is Bold stuff and after being at Disney and with Marvel Now FINALLY being Under 1 Home Finally Thanks to Disney and IMO How Well Disney Pushes it’s Female Power Houses like recently with Wanda in WandaVision and the Other Elemental Queen Elsa from Frozen! :D
I have some good hopes and wishes for Storm going into the next decade with Disney’s backing, The MCU and Marvel’s Bold Moves in the Comics!
What do you all think with these views?!

For me specifically I am not critical more like I only care because storm is there. I too am not a BP fan I only started enjoying wakanda when I saw the Dora milaje. I read the BP books mainly because storm was in them. Maybe it's because of me being ace but I genuinely did not care for x charachters love lives or any comic book charachter. I am not going to sit here and say Coates didn't do anything for storm he did and more he laid the foundation for her to deal on a multiversal level. But the BP relationship never sparked to me glad it did for many here I have noticed black couples getting cut short or not given enough attention.
Right now I enjoying storm as storm by herself. The years after claremont save Coates and pak have been very rough on her charachter and I believe she would have to establish to all new readers who she us and always has been if along the way BP and her falls in love soo be it I genuinely think aside wolverine, forge and BP they would change her love interest. Wolverine had two partners now so he's out, so that leaves forge and BP her most prevalent relationships. Would be interesting for her to meet new people but as claremont said only the best would do for storm.

1. Yes I totally would agree with the 2 weeks statement especially coming from the xbooks. This has been a pivotal, character defining moment for her definitely.
2. I hope you had a great time on vacation at Disney!! Im sure you had a magical time!!!
3. For me, this is a very much a moment of validation. I made a post previously but her fans were called all types of name for referring to her as a goddess and omega level mutant within the forum community and Marvel is now broadcasting to the world first that she is a goddess. How cool is that?
4. I think with how well received wandavision was and also how Monica was, marvel sees the need that consumers have in wanting to see not only powerful women but also powerful black women in superhero media. I am greatly encouraged and excited by what I've seen. Im looking forward for what is to come.

I think the best storm we have seen has been when she was with tchalla at least once Coates started writing her. The xoffices deserve their props for what they did with sword 6 but they have a lot of work to do to repair the perception they allowed and created years ago. Her dealings with tchalla does not impact how the xoffices choose to write her. If anything they used her dealings as an excuse not to do anything with her. Now its time for them show us through action what they are going to do with her.

its all a step in the right direction and considering many said marvel or the xoffices would never recognize what was going happening in black panther is substantial news. I certainly don't expect everything to be corrected overnight so I don't mind a measured, paced approach to getting her back on the right track. I do hope we get a solo book but if time is taken to establish her importance within the mu u certainly don't mind that.

While this is true, in every x-book after AvX, it fell flat. Even her solo series fell flat for me. Its because not only her but the entire x-line just got worse and stuck in a cycle.
But even discounting the post effect of the divorce it doesn't take away with how horribly she was used during the marriage. Housewife has not and will never fit Storm and the thing me and other longtime fans like Val were saying is that its already enough that she was underused in the x-men but also then relegated to wallpaper and background furniture in black panthers world. It was all terrible on both fronts.

Claremont didn't make her a literal goddess. Claremont didn't do a thing for her when Scott and Emma were running the show under Fraction nor did Claremont do a thing for her when Aaron had her being irrelevant under Logan shadow when he was Headmaster of the Jean Grey Institute nor did he do anything when Guggenheim had her taking orders from Kitty Xmen gold. I love Claremont and appreciate all he did for Storm in uncanny but what we are not going to do today is try and rewrite history as if some here have forgotten the events that transpired leading up to Coates writing storm in Black Panther.

I think the worse thing from the marriage for me was the Dickey's story but they mostly read like normal folks married than anything else to me. hudlin explored her family, they actually talked about the potential omega level aspects of her power and had her fighting on the world stage during the human registration debacle. I can see how some fans didn't prefer his writing and while everything wasn't perfect the bp offices were trying to expand her story in ways the xoffices then were not trying to especially during that time. The stories coming out of the x-books were focused heavily around Scott and Emma.

Agreed. I think the fandom’s excitement is on the new role with great potential, and not saying we’re now satisfied with just the offiical announcement. A team book with her at the helm and giving momentum to her new role is what I am hoping for, and the impression I’m getting is that this will happen in SWORD. Or, ideally, a completely separate/new PSXM team book.
My understanding was also that this new direction with her is supposed to unfold over a legnthy period, so hopefully we get to a place where this new direction has lasting impact for her and that we are getting years of story.

I mean couplings honestly do nothing for me in the grand scheme of things but for the majority it seems to but out of the people put in Storm's orbit cable was definitely one i saw potential.
But then when your a goddess i suspect Storm to at some point have many many long romance and perhaps kids. lol

So odd question that will probably never come to pass, but if Storm and T'challa get re-married and have a kid would that kid be forced to sit on the Wakandan throne or the "Mars" throne? Which side would he/she/they be loyal to? Sol or the Empire? Let the plot spinning and what-ifs commence lol.

I dont think either where they are now would make the child choose either and would allow them to find their own path.

True. But I do think Krakoan politics would eagerly pursue the child if they were a mutant (especially an omega). But on the flip side the Regent of Sol was an appointment so it may not truly matter, but a continuation of Storm’s mystical lineage as ongoing heirs to that throne would make for an interesting story.

yes in the event the child was a mutant and omega I think there would be pressure from the arrakii definitely for the child to be the heir to the throne. and yes I would imagine at some point Apocalypse and/or his wife may want to contest the title that storm now holds which I think would be very interesting.

i skimmed through the past 5 pages of the thread and man, some y'all won't let that annul thing go. Shi was like a decade ago at this point it's not even relevant. At least Tchalla didn't commit a Peter Parker, they're only comic characters so it all comes down to the writing and if the relationship works it works whether ya like it or not both characters can succeed either way but it all comes down to the pen. This subject is recycled too damn much.
