never really thought about it until now from this discussion but what if her x-gene was given to her from her father David? We know her mother is responsible for her mystical aspects but it could be possible her mutant abilities actually were passed on to her from her father.

That would only work if they retcon the father into being a mutant and considering he is dead, I dont see the point of that. Mutants can be born from 2 baseline humans (in fact most are)

I was thinking it being more like a latent X-gene thing and yes of course it could be from 2 baseline humans but it would be a means to further develop her family outside of being just an xman.
that said, I don't think it would be a necessary thing by any means but would be interesting if his lineage was explored beyond what we currently know.

That would be great. Then they can finally make her younger cousin David a mutant. His mother, Storm aunt apparently died drug use. Maybe Storm aunt was the one hiding her X-gene. Maybe living under her older brother shadow was already too much for her and being a mutant some how made it worse in her eyes. Icing on the cake further proof something was wrong with her. Which would be tragic cause The Munroe's Look very accepting.
Maybe she got addicted trying to suppress her mutant powers

I also don't see a problem with expounding on a character we know nothing about. Kind of weird to say he is human like it's a fact when we know far less about him than we do moira. Also isn't there a whole book right now called xmen legends where they are doing just that. Expanding on the canon of other characters. i don't see why Storm can't benefit from that as well. I originally thought we were going to get hints of him in BP and the crew but we saw where that went.
Besides i'd much rather delve into the rich history of Storm and her family on both sides, there is A LOT of it untapped story there and printed stories of her ancestors. It seems the solution for some for Storm is always to take something away or create some alternate universe crap.
-
What's so wrong with him being human, that it needs to be changed?
How will making David Munroe a latent mutant now (as he's been dead since...forever) add anything to Storm's story and character? How does it change anything about her personal story then, now, and going forward?
And if the idea is to make one of David's family members a mutant then you can just do so, without retconning David's history.
XM:L is using existing, living, relevant characters to expand the canon by filling the "gaps" of stories that have been told. That's very different to taking a dead character and adding to his history so as to add to another character's history.

Well for a starter if he was a latent mutant, he can be resurrected on Krakoa. I imagine that would be quite the shock for Ororo, but still a possible storyline. It will expand on her father's lineage, therefore, she might find that she has Aunts on her father side or perhaps Uncles, and also it will provide a deeper look into possible reasons for Ororo's mutant powers. I do get the idea, father mutant, mother priestess, combine the two and you get Weather manipulation. Just saying.
Furthermore, if I have to tap deeper into it, we can be introduced to enemies which held a grudge against Ororo's Father, which means more enemies for Storm to deal with and only her own enemies. Yep, I can see a lot of potential and storytelling if that is to happen.

These can be accomplished without fundamentally changing someone who is dead.
If memory serves me there have already been some family connections introduced in an X-Men Annual and the BP books prior to her marriage to T'Challa so...A writer can simply expand on those.
How would Xavier have David's dna and mental/anima back-up when both he and N'Dare died when Storm was a toddler?
-
Latent mutants aren't mutants. Technically everyone on Marvel earth has a latent x-gene from the Celestials. Even if David had been a mutant, he died long before Xavier developed even the earliest version of Cerebro, so he wouldn't have a backup.

what issue was it that talked about her aunt dying from drug use?
and your post would be an intestesting set of events relating to her family!

It happen in Black Panther#16 when Storm was reconnected with her Father's family. Meeting her grandparents and nephew for the first time.
And as a correction apparently it was Drug/Aids related death, Storm aunt died of.
-
Wasnt moira long dead before her being a mutant changed everything. Again everything is execution. I'm pretty sure if hickman thought the same way there would be no House of X or Current mutantdom.
-
Storm father was a mutant, his power was the ability to have omega level mutant offsprings, there you have it, problem solved!
-
David Munroe was the Shadow King and telepathicly woed Ndere to creating Ororo. But suffer trauma from his physical death as David and doesn't remember.
-
NDere had an affair with apocalypse, David is not the Father.
This is fun keep it going...

Xavier visited David in this current life, before Storm was born and had a conversation. He did it because of something Moira showed him.

The David that died in the plane crash was a golem and David has been sitting in his own No Where place.
-
And to throw on some canon. Ezra Miller was keeping a secret for David and an eye out for Ororo who he actually called Blue because it was the color David saw when he saw her.

I am just stunned at how ignorant people are. I am not surprised that Storm doesn't have many enemies, since if this is the way fanbase reacts to good ideas or possible enemies, I am not surprised that Storm is yet to get as many solos as Black Panther or Wolverine for that, matter.
Just for the record, from the small stories, start the big one and more potential enemies are build for given character.

I was going to ask what you meant but now I get it. yea fandoms can be interesting as there will always be someone that will find a reason to offer criticism even when something is perfect. I just hope that writers try their best to give her the most respect they can. its been long overdue.

oh lolol you a mess.
I take it you are fine with things as it stands with canon regarding Mr. Munroe lol

Yes, I am fine with Ororo being born to a normal human father, and an essentially normal human mother(with royal/priestess lineage).

gotcha.
so I'm curious what Cates will have in store for us tomorrow. I'm hoping storm makes an appearance and gets that knull back at some point for possessing her.
I really would have liked a global level feat before she was taken over.

I hope for the same. I really hope that they get her finally free because for the past few weeks we haven't heard anything about her at all, which annoys me. And just for the record, fanfic is all cool but I do not like it when there isn't any serious research and thought put into it.
Now, I do hope as well that we will see a planetary skill, as well, after she gets free from the Knull's possession. I can see her being extremely mad at him and tapping at that secret Godhood of hers and showing him what she can really do, for calling her 'small light' or was it 'lightning'?

I like this idea... especially considering that he was an international photojournalist. What if he was actually an agent of the "company" with the mutant ability of photographic recall. Bonus!!! What if he also had deft skills in h2h combat and burgling... maybe his little Ororo inherited those abilities from papa.

Secretly, I'm hoping that she is able to free herself from Knull's influence "white oppression" without the intervention of other heroes "saviours." She is a devotee of the Bright Lady, an omega level weather manipulator and spiritual goddess. If Thor can be the thrice born spawn of Odin, Frig, Gaea, and the Phoenix Force, why can't a black female mutant and self-made goddess get out of the ridiculous trap of self-absorbed symbiont narcissist?

I'm honestly not too hopeful we will see any global feats. It would be very nice but this event is about Eddie and his son so I don't expect much. I was happy from the bits we got from issue 1 because it was unexpected.

ooh photographic recall?? if its good enough for Moira to become a mutant while always being a human your idea would totally work in my book!!!

uhm hello and where the hell have you been?? welcome to the forum and I absolutely love your contribution!! your point about her spiritual characteristics is why, as well as thor's, is why I don't understand why any fan of storm would want it any other way than for her to embrace her divinity. characters like Thor can have cosmic powers from Galactus and Phoenix force/gaea as a parent and his fans go wild but for the longest if one was to call her anything but an alpha level mutant her fans would see red. so absolutely she should be able to free herself and I wish she had been able to flex her muscles against the knull god himself.

This for some reason makes me feel like it wasn't a coloring mistake that one of those grand daughters all of a sudden looked like baby pink storm riding a space whale.
Also could they be de gaiaing thor so he can connect with another prodigy of gaia.
Storm appears in Champions Outlaw #4. Nice surprise. [spoil] storm creates a mini water sprout.[/spoil]
Storm is really on a giving mercy kick lately and letting them know they lucky. lol
after KIB 4 anyone trying to take Storm godhood away can miss me. Every white child in the MU can be god level but not one black female. Naw B.
-
So it took two Earth divinities of lightning to damage quite a bit of Knull's army. A combination of psionic and magical energies. It was stoned to see who the real God of Light is now, and I didn't expect that at all. When Ororo helped him out and knew who he is, I can see her conversing with him and Thor to help her on her Godhood path.
I am so proud of you Ororo. You finally get the recognition you deserve. So proud, indeed. *tears of happiness*
-
Am i missing an issue? I read my friend KIB 4 and Storm only appears on one page and beyond that i really feel like i'm missing an issue because it doesn't even show when she got free. She just popped up on a page.
-
They did mess up on that. I think the next issue of Savage Avengers shows more of how Storm and Cyke were freed, but the main book did show Dylan doing his thing, so I guess that was enough. As a line-wide event, this has been a very messy story, especially since some books are ignoring it completely while others are folded in, with distinct tie-ins as well, and then the main book itself.

And I totally agree with your last point.
