He is sooo lazy, like there is heat there is moisture and fluids native to the environment, there are gases all things she can control and manipulate if he wanted to have her use her hand to hand skill he could simply have her state that she would take them out without the elements or better yet have her make constructs with the elements as a user said to beat up the demons.
absolutely. I think he wanted to show hammer bad ass she is but there are ways you can do this without nerfing the character. it was ridiculous honestly and it demonstrated he didn't have any clue on writing the character.
excellent question. iceman was able to freeze the entirety of hell.
this was a very rough period because it did seem like at that time there was a concerted effort to rercon her powers and how they worked. so happy those days are far behind us.
Oh definitely I trust Ewing with her, he does his research and is the perfect person to expand and elaborate on her powers especially in a cosmic setting.
Oh definitely I trust Ewing with her, he does his research and is the perfect person to expand and elaborate on her powers especially in a cosmic setting.
yes!!!! I knew when I read issue 3 of sword that Ewing wouldn't let us storm fans down. the fact that he referenced Coates bp for eden when he was in space and killed a lot of people made me hopeful if storm appeared there he would do the same for her. and must I say he delivered boo!!! he definitely did his research and he did do the shady stuff that guggenheim did making stories purposeful to be the polar opposite of what was being depicted in black panther.
for instance in BP book he was wiring this:

Guggenheim alternatively had her randomly kissing gambit:

It was random ad and he it was not followup. he then even had him marry rogue. it was clear it was done solely to troll Coates.
-
then of course you had Coates explaining that storm was a goddess in black panther and to be a god required the faith of worshippers which all aligned to marvel history in the regard:

it was clear he was waiting his stories in xmen to contradict Coates and I never understood why a writer would go through such an effort unless he was insecure in some of how his work was received.

Like that time people were complaining to Guggenheim for constantly writing Storm abysmally then said she was gonna have a "big moment" in Gold and it just boiled down to het getting Thor's hammer or some ish to throw lightning -_-. Was that during Coates BP run as well?
EDIT: EXACTLY MY POINT LMFAO

yes it was absolutely during Coates run. I recall him saying storm was going to have an awesome issue her fans would love and in the issue she took a nap and needed Wolverine to make lightning. it was a hot mess.

Well from the looks of it all his work would come to naught as Ewing just acknowledged the hadari yao and the acanti. It's very beautiful knowing where we are headed and where we came from to get here.

yes! he did all that work to undermine Coates and they still have his roses by ignoring the mess Guggenheim was writing and reaffirming Coates. I honestly didn't know if the xoffices would ever do it but I'm so happy they finally did. there were many who liker to come here and call Coates work fanfiction because the xoffices had not acknowledged his work.

Exactly! To write storms powers well you not only have to be imaginative but know some science. Because most of the things I state storm should be able to do is science. You get the science and then use a little imagination then you get magic! It's very positive and I believe we might see some great things from storm over these next few years in Ewing's hands hopefully.

To be frank I still doubt the xoffice as a whole but Ewing I trust, he is very good he was the one that established Monica and Adam as the true powerhouses that they are. He elaborated on their powers very well in grounded yet fantastical ways. He is a true wizard when it comes to cosmic stuff.... Yesterday comics explained stated that storms power over the cosmic elements though there and present have not been consistently fleshed out and that he believes Ewing would really set new limits and boundaries expanding on her current powersets and placing them firmly in the realm of cosmic. I honestly can't wait cosmic storms and forces that she would be able to control. And she is the regent of an entire solar system and a representative for the power and will of mutants throughout the entire universe so she must have very high level showings in order for others to know not to fuck with her or her people. To be frank tho was what we wanted all along she had become too big for the xmen and earth since claremonts first xmen run ended. Hence why most writer's not knowing what to do with her. She only worked when she was the leader, goddess or in her own solo. Now she is in sword which is an xbook far removed from the rest and earthly shenanigans. She can finally streatch plus I want her after knocking some sense into the arakki to build an actual relationship with them I believe they as a whole and their strength of will can grant her the faith necessary to access her divine strength.

I mean her skrull version had such power over radiation directly that it could pull specific wavelengths of radiation to hurt a superman level charachter soo much so he had to run underground to escape. That is control, that is precision she even states that she has power that he gladiator cannot even fathom. Meaning she is very much aware of just how vastly versatile her powers really are. This same energy is what I want brought into the sword books I I believe Ewing would deliver.

I've been waiting for so long to see her pull that trick out the skrull used against gladiator from the real storm. how the skrull can be more creative than her when using her powers beats me (beyond the oblivious culprit being the writers). I believe Ewing is definitely going to deliver too. we as fans are in good hands!!!

Going by what JDW said in the XMM interview...I'm really looking forward to SWORD 07 to read Storm state her claim to be the Voice of Sol.
-
One of the thing I'm most looking forward to see is Storm manipulate a nebula and create cosmic storms out of it.
One of the thing I'm most looking forward to see is Storm manipulate a nebula and create cosmic storms out of it.
that would be freaking amazing too

also, is there any possibility that Arrako's mutants recognize and treat Storm as their Goddess? she will probably earn their respect from what we know of S.W.O.R.D #8, maybe go beyond just being their queen.
-

its possible but I imagine they will start off not respecting her or even recognizing her as their leader.

maybe you're right but Storm'll help against Dormammu, should something like that be enough for her have they respect or are they waiting for her to kick some Arrako omega's as**** ?

This...coming from a nation as old and as powerful, collectively, as the Arakki...is highly improbable.
Far more plausible to think Storm shows them why she's the best suited to speak for and on their behalf...
She commands great power in her own right.
She is a proven warrior.
She has diplomatic/political experience.
She has close allies among the GC members.
Those criteria alone make her worthy of their trust and respect.
-
One of the thing I'm most looking forward to see is Storm manipulate a nebula and create cosmic storms out of it.
Yes yes yes !!! That is like if that happens I would just .... Because that's where her power leads too.... And if she did it would literally firmly place her in the cosmic pantheon of heroes. Nebulas are basically molecular clouds of hydrogen and helium but mainly hydrogen they give birth to stars, planets, galaxies...etc. all if not most observable matter has their start from a nebula. So if she does that if she fully controls a nebula... The implication that has, the power that has, the glory that has, the intelligence that has, the common sense that has, simple to say is omega level at the very least.
I hope we see that soon or her create cosmic storms it's Ewing soo I ama bit optimistic that he would pull out a lot of stops. But it's xoffice and JDW so I am being cautious.
-
Or .. gathering enough hydrogen to create a star yes
I hope I can see her do the hydrogen thing again.
-
Or .. gathering enough hydrogen to create a star yes
Exactly the feat that would undisputedly make her the only true voice of the star system. But the fact that storm was the clear option from the start shows well on the xoffice I do admit.
-

well I think isca gives insight to how they may view her. remember the convo she had with Xavier and magneto where she basically tells them they are weak. I would assume this is a general idea the arrakii have of all krakoans including storm. she will hsve yo do some impressive showings either in power, being a leader or both before they warm up to her.

I think Isca might show Storm a bit more respect than she does Xavier and Magneto because iirc she actually saw Storm defeat her nephew Death pretty easily. But I don't expect Isca to treat Storm as an equal at first because Storm still believes in coexistence with humanity and isn't a warmonger at heart.
As the SWORD #8 solicits hint, Storm constantly having to prove herself to the Arakki will probably eat away at her soul and make her question who she is as she tries to keep the planet stable and act as its voice. It'll be a balancing act but I hope by the end of it she earns the respect of Isca and the rest of the Great Ring because it seems inevitable that they'll end up clashing.

I want storm to personally give Isca and crew the same energy she gave here:

she seriously shouldn't give two f's about their respect and demand that they respect her. she needs to take them back to her punk, outback days so they can learn she is not to be played with.
