Guess who's in the top three?! :)
now this is nice to see! I wish Marvel would wake the hell up and give their Most Popular Female character the proper attention she deserves. Solo book, solo movie, solo video game, etc., where is it????
Thank you for sharing boo!

If only them saying that she anchored her own book for a long time was true... with the endless X-Men spin-offs i need at least ONE book to feature her as the lead (but for real just give us a solo).

I thought the same thing.
Though in hindsight the solo was good for what it was. It must have been frustrating for Pak to write a book where essentially his hands were tied. I wouldn't mind if he got a second shot in this new era with the backstage stuff now over.

Oh really? What Happened?

I was today old when I came to the realization that Storm is the only X-Men with a cape.
I still don't count Mags as an X-Men,
I was just visualize MCU Storm winged capes shots, from bellowing landing to up draft to , back shots, how it covers her standing and somewhat resemble an outfit and how it collapse as she shoots through the air.
But then I was like are they really going to waste time doing her cape justice. It was one of the major grind and let downs in the FoXmen movies. Either she didn't have it, or it look super cheap to catch the fans but it did not need to look it , or it was a horrible cut.
As per the MCUAvengers movie I can only count Thor and Doc strange and Vision.
I love those lashes and how dramatic they are!!! Work it boo thanks again for sharing.
Also are those recent pieces or ones you created from a while back?
Did these yesterday, but I have to do the full face then crop or it goes wrong! Ororo’s eyelashes are a bit over the top!
But her eyes are beautiful. I don’t like it when artists give her blank eyes unless she’s using her powers. Her eyes should reflect the colours of the sky.
I’d like her to lead a book, no idea why she isn’t, there are so many stories about her and her place in the world which haven’t been told yet. She’s been my favourite female mutant for forty one years.
-
It's probably not as though writers aren't pitching solo stories for her (and many other characters) from time to time. (much more goes on behind the scenes than just sitting at a desk writing-editing-drawing-scripting etc.)
And it more than likely has to do with waiting for the right-writer-and right time-with the right-pitch ...to fall in line with the current story/era trajectory. And such decisions aren't made lightly or in a vacuum separate from everything else going on.
We might be interested in her history but probably not many actual writers are.

agreed with this 100%. I need the X-offices to put the same energy the avengers side does with Carol and her poor selling books. no shade just stating the facts.

Yes Yes And Yes to the blank eyes. That is a big pet peeve of mine too. If she isn't using her powers it serves no purpose to show her with white eyes.
I love that she has been your favorite over time as she has. This character is loved by so many and has endured much especially after Claremont stopped writing her. hopefully with the xmen back in the marvel house she will finally get the push she deserves.

seeing how much she has been underrepresented following the xmen's popularity and the Avengers push over the xmen by marvel entertainment i believe its a testament to storms staying power. no gimmicks, no 100s of retcons to make her more important/powerful than she was originally conceived, not a derivative of popular male characters and yet she falls right behind WW who i believe does deserve the top spot. if Marvel would truly invest in Storm as a character she could be respected to the level that WW is in an organic way that isn't forced as it obviously has been with captain marvel.

Don’t underestimate her appeal, she’s a superb black female role model but she’s also just an incredible female icon, no matter your ethnicity.
It’s like Black Panther, my favourite Marvel film. It was astonishing for its use of an all black cast in front of camera and crew and creative team. Because of this new and refreshing film making we also got so many women in interesting roles which went way beyond the girlfriend or the mother. Serendipity; in giving us a new angle on the superhero, we also got a different view on female characters.

I agree and im just so excited but I just know in my heart that Storm will be making solo appearances in the MCU without having to be with the X-Men.

False alarm, Monica's eyes change color, but the part of me that reads too much into things thinks the initial color choice was a deliberate Storm reference. It feels too hopeful to type, but I get the sense Storm's placement and introduction in the MCU is getting fast tracked compared to some of her comic costars. I am cautiously optimistic, but god knows, I've been burnt before.

I never felt that her eyes changing colors was a nod to Storm. It's more of a nod to her powers and they change depending on the spectrum of light Monica is utilizing. If her eyes went white during all moves, THEN WE SHOULD RIOT. But that's not the case.
Meanwhile I do think that we'll see Storm nods likely in BPII but I don't know that she'll appear now that T'Challa is dead and not being recast. I could be wrong but that's my guess that they will reference a powerful goddess in Kenya and perhaps a post-credit scene showing her. But I don't foresee getting anything substantial before the X-Men movie happens. Fingers crossed I'm wrong.

Yeah, I definitely don't think we'll get anything substantive before an X-men movie, I only meant she might be one of the first mutants we glimpse, which would be kinda cool. I hadn't considered marvel shying away from a storm appearance given the loss of Boseman and BP, but I can understand the logic.
As for the blue eyes thing, its fully a reach on my end, but I do think it was maybe meant to be a very subtle homage to another very famous black heroine. Just the faintest of nods, but I don't think anything was really meant by it beyond that. Regardless, it'd be a throw away detail even if that was the case. My head canon that there was a storm fan in the writers room stands

Monica Rambeau...living rent free in Ororo Munroe's Appreciation Thread INDEED.
Have Ororo/Monica ever c-starred when both characters possessed their powers? The Original SECRET WARS series is the only occasion I can recall. It's almost a meta-commentary of female characters of color being empowered, not in competition, and not interchangeable...
I just found this comic book kickstarter from the peri-pandemic period that would co-star both women, it would be neat if it, and our ladies, got some support.

Marvel does not care about Storm fans complaining about her being the only black female character allowed to have blue eyes. Monica's eyes changed color depending on the type of energy she was around in whichever episode.

How would y’all feel if marvel made storm a witch in the Mcu? Or better yet just a African goddess instead of a mutant.

This.
She had a blue-ish energy aura when she first manifested her powers. Now she's manifesting a golden signature, and golden eyes.
And besides...
This is a TV series, the decisions to portray Monica's power signatures as we see them would have been locked in post production and editing...long before the series even started airing.
They didn't read the few Storm-fans' silly complaints after watching episode 7 and then hurriedly decided to change it to gold for episode 9...two weeks later. That's not how these things work.

that would be cool but personally I need and want so badly for her to have a solo movie. its time for the true first Lady of marvel to flex her muscles. please African goddess storm as well who isn't given her power by an ancient villain who worships the ground Mystique walks on.

I honestly don't know how I feel about it, but I do know that I will dislike it big time if it has anything to do with magic since Storm's powers were always psionic and not magical. However, I am intrigued by the idea of exploring her godhood in the movies or in solo animation.

It is interesting if Xavier really did tamper with her mind back then, so he can make her come. I would question it myself. She was worshipped as a Goddess and everyone loved her and feared her, and suddenly she accepts a stranger offer to join a mutant team. Yeah, it sounds fishy.

I'd prefer her to stay a mutant, though I wouldn't mind if they made her weather powers stronger to Thor's

I was having a little discussion on twitter and curious on the storm fans thoughts here. did you like how storm was characterized in xmen red? for me going in to it I was hopeful that she would be showcased in a favorable manner but as the story progressed that became apparent not to be the case. some of the things I didn't care for were her relationships with characters like tchalla and merino being secondary to jean who never even knew them prior to the book, and her lowballing of powers such as her trying to kill herself with lightning and forgetting she can manipulate ocean currents. also, for her and jean to be "sisters" there interactions never felt as such. I think the book would have been better for me had storm not been in the book but what are your thoughts?
Jean talking more to T'Challa than Ororo did and they were in a relationship??? hmmm no no:

Storm trying to kill herself with lightning being immune to the elements??? uhm no thanks:

and did storm even say one word to nehzno the boy she helped mentor and respected hr for being queen of wakanda:
