I know she has been burned by in some instances in the past but based upon the amount of energy and heat she channels through her body when using lightning along I don't think she would burn either.

you're welcome boo. I have seen others too. she doesn't burn when exposed to radiation. others had to wear a space suit when Lorna was immersed in it. even a phoenix jean had a suit on but storm just flew in that bish like

and here's another instance in her solo, when she was directly exposed to radiation. Armon (I think that was his name) burned but she didn't:
I pulled this from how science works
"A hurricane also releases energy through the formation of clouds and rain (it takes energy to evaporate all that water). If we crunch the numbers for an average hurricane (1.5 cm/day of rain, circle radius of 665 km), we get a gigantic amount of energy: 6.0 x 10^14 Watts or 5.2 x 10^19 Joules/day!
This is equivalent to about 200 times the total electrical generating capacity on the planet! NASA says that "during its life cycle a hurricane can expend as much energy as 10,000 nuclear bombs!" And we're just talking about average hurricanes here, not Katrina."
storm channeled the energies of not just a hurricane, not just a planet, but billions of planets. that should give us a glimpse as to how powerful the showing was.
Yes, and taking into account the distance from the entire nucleus to the galacto, plus the time Ororo has before dying from lack of oxygen (about 17, 30 seconds?), I'll bet your powers' reaction even surpassed the speed of the light, she and her powers would have to be very fast, another moment I like is X-men Unlimited.

At that moment, Storm should have access to all energies, waves of the electromagnetic field.

@Butterflykyss
I remember those! The Professor being shook by what Storm is doing I missed though lmao.

stormy i really don't like that writer lol. pretty sure thats from Scott Lobdell but he was the one who single-handedly nerfed a lot of her abilities after the Claremont run.
he was the one that had her immunity to weather be completely changed. he will never be forgiven for that mess.

I believe its from a limited series that Lobdell wrote back in the 90s. he did a lot to change how her powers worked which I will never appreciate lol.

yes that is why I tell a lot of storm fans who hate on hudlin that lobldell did much more to hurt the character than hudlin ever could have done. his version was the one many readers were first exposed to due to their surge in popularity during the 90s

Lmao I love it. She's burning up so much that professor looks like he has an I.V. of Carolina Reaper juice, yet Scott can hold her without the slightest harm.
Yeah, it's starting to really come back now. I dislike that man.
Not that it matters at this point but did he ever give a reason to why his Storm is so garbage and fly's directly in the face of years of established canon?

I wasn't that big of a fan of how it was portrayed in X-Treme if I'm being honest. I mean I'm glad Claremont referenced and expounded on it, but the one-color format felt kind of bland and not realistic at all of how Storm would see the world in energy sight. I like the chaotic hippie rainbow coloring, lol.

Guess it would depend on the writer/artist communication. There are some artists that might not be able to pull off the hippie coloring and would favor the single-color format. I mean in either case it would be a more current visual to her energy sight so I'd be happy either way.
I'm just waiting to go to bed tonight and wake up tomorrow with the thread being like 7+ pages of discussion.

what story made you start liking storm or how did you come to like her?

1) Mostly the more current writers. I like Pak and Yost and now obviously Hickman and Ewing. The only older writer I could say besides Claremont would be Ellis from the 90s Storm mini. In terms of Storm's comic history, I am slightly above noob level lmao. Mostly scans and stories from years of lurking various boards and sites.
As for what made me like Storm, I pretty much was in awe from X-men: The Animated Series. Was just sheer luck that my television was on the right channel at the right time and I looked up to see this woman calling up a hurricane.
Later on, after I knew a thing or two, I knew the scene was during the Dark Phoenix saga part of the series.
2) I want to say when Emma took over her body, she also had the multiple color energy sight.
-

1. that's a pretty solid list of writers. yost has always been one of my favorites and pak was good too.
I think xmen tas was the way many people grew to love the character. it definitely was one of the reasons I fell in love with her. though for me I think in the 90s I was a bigger psylocke fan.
2. ok I will have to look. I thought it was done that way once before but I couldn't recall specifically where I saw it.

1) Thanks. I don't believe my standards are high when reading work. Just don't sh!t on a character to prop something or someone else up and do stuff that fly's in the face of what's established for that character. Like imagine the Hell that would rain down on me if I was a Marvel writer and wrote someone like Jean or Professor needed to touch their temple to use their telepathy and if their hands were bound, they'd be powerless. That's the amount of ridiculous I got from lobdell
2) Found it on Google. And I was mistaken, she didn't visually see it but we read she saw it via thought bubble.

I may be wrong, but I've seen with different eyes, on wikis, sites I've always read that say the "Storm powers protect it from the climatic variations that a normal human being couldn't withstand", so I think it's related to its constant connection to the atmosphere, elements, something that would act instantly, subtly with speed (Since she would feel the variations in weather and climate and do something about it). In this particular moment, I saw it more as her body's self-protection, as she was unconscious (?) as her powers acted to protect her from the low temperatures of the Arctic. In the past, I even thought her body was hot because she had just accessed the Earth's electromagnetic field.
But I understand your frustration with this moment, besides being something on a planetary level that Ororo could easily handle, and other series of limitations (Shit it's already become a habit in the Storm's life).

1. Absolutely! I can't tell you how many times I've come across readers who say it would take time for her to use her powers or of course writers whove expressed she needs "weather" for her powers to work. Its quite annoying to see from readers but it is a whole other level of frustrating when writers write her in such a fashion. I remember fraction mentioning she couldn't make it rain inside of a dome. there was no need for her to do it either but it came off as he he wanted to purposefully show her in a was to depower or even devalue her. and those fans would lose their sh!t thats for sure.
2. oh ok no worries boo.

It's easy to remember because there were so few good Storm stories from that era. ;) That's the last visual depiction of her energy sight that I can recall, but Hickman basically alluded to it again in his X-Men #1 when they rescued the mutant kids from the ORCHIS base, and she said something about two of them giving off strange energies [so she should watch over them in case she had to intercede].

if captain marvel has sustained a solo as long as she has certainly storm does too. the regent of sol position could be the perfect pitch for a book.
It's easy to remember because there were so few good Storm stories from that era. ;) That's the last visual depiction of her energy sight that I can recall, but Hickman basically alluded to it again in his X-Men #1 when they rescued the mutant kids from the ORCHIS base, and she said something about two of them giving off strange energies [so she should watch over them in case she had to intercede].
yea i try to forget that era because it was so uninspired esoecislly for storm fans but had to update my arsenal of feats so that I wouldn't forget again. I thought that issue 1 of xmen was totally an example of her ability to perceive energy if not exactly energy sight it still shows her ability to feel it.
I would have been inclined to give lobdell the benefit of the doubt but he goes on to say "immune to weather what does that even mean? thst she doesn't get wet?"

he completely upended what Claremont has essentially said a few times in the regard using the same language to point out her absurd it must be for anything of the sort to be said.
This was one of the things i hated most about the 90s. Every white character the sky seemed to be the limit and the one black female it seemef like certain writers were on a mission to shape her as less than but what is innmue to weather is harder to understand than but by a radioactive spider. And on the flip they were trying to give storm fans a reputation for calling bull and make it seem like fans wete being unreasonable. Its like no, we see you. Because of that ceetain writers from that time i have to think 3 or 4 times before i purchase their qork, lobdell being one. Especially aonce at the same time he had a plot of trying to basically make jean all powerful or was that seagle. Either way it was the cabin story and around the same time

While I'd enjoy a Storm solo series I find this article to be quite disingenuous as it claims that Jean Grey never had a solo book or mini-series when there's Jean Grey (2017), any one-shots when there's X-Men Origins - Jean Grey (2008) Marvel Girl (2011), or that the closest she got was X-Men: Red which is, in fact, a mini-series as the title revolved around her.

Ororoswind brought the thunder and BKyss brought the lightning. Under Ewing...SWORD is the book to read if you're truly a fan of Storm.

What was that interview with Al Ewing at AIPT, I'm screaming, I loved it, wow, I'm much more looking forward to new issue of Sword

That interview had me GAGGED. He seems to really understand the core of the character outside of flashy moments, but we're also going to get unique usage of her powers and all new feats. It's really the best of both worlds out here!
