I looked at the nosebleed as more just like, a growing pains kinda thing. Like how when you work out more than you're used to, it can hurt because you're pushing your muscles to do more than they've had to do previously.....like this is just the equivalent of that for Storm, perhaps. Not a sign anything is actually wrong with her, just an indication of her using or building up 'muscles' she hasn't taxed in this way previously....as others have said, not because it was beyond the scope of her power, but because the finesse of holding back from doing too MUCH damage required a more focused grip on the sheer breadth of how she was using her powers. Like....a leverage thing? You can be a bodybuilder who can benchpress a couple hundred pounds easy, but still feel a strain when holding a box that's only half that weight if the box is of a shape that forces you to stretch your arms out wide to keep a grip on each edge of it, if you're not used to stretching in THAT particular way, y'know? But then the next time you do that its easier, etc.
Exactatiously. Which was why I compared it to her Jovian Pressure sphere feat.

Now the next thing I want from Mr. Ewing is more defensive applications. I let his mind decide which way he decides to pursue that. Claremont (I believe?) gave us a pressure dome, Hickman gave us an insta-cast EM shield, the ball is now is Ewing's court!

the writers for the pressure dome feat were John Byrne, Whilce Portacio.
uncanny xmen 283.

It's possible those issues were at least in part plotted by Claremont; it was the first arc after him leaving(and they would have the artists working months in advance). But even if he didn't then, he did give her the nuke-crunching Jovian pressure feat later.

Can you speak more on the Jovian pressure feat?

It's probably hard to read, but basically Storm generated air pressure like that within the gas giant Jupiter, the most massive planet in our solar system. Pressure sufficient to contain the explosive force of a tactical[mini] nuke long enough to jettison it(with Bishop's blast) above the atmosphere to harmlessly dissipate in space.
"Jupiter has the largest planetary atmosphere in the Solar System, spanning over 5,000 km (3,000 mi) in altitude. Because Jupiter has no surface, the base of its atmosphere is usually considered to be the point at which atmospheric pressure is equal to 100 kPa (1.0 bar). 1 bar is 14.5 psi. But you are probably asking what the pressure is at Jupiter’s center. It has been estimated to be between 50 to 100 million times the pressure of earths atmosphere at sea level. It’s not possible to give a more exact answer because no one really knows what the center of Jupiter is like. Some have postulated that the center is a small rocky core with a metallic hydrogen sphere surrounding it. At these extremes the concept of pressure is essentially meaningless and most atmospheric scientist instead refer to it as compressive force." Lol, I like how Bishop was saying "Storm's generating pressure higher than on the surface of jupiter!"
But Jupiter has no real surface. Then again I wouldn't know how to describe what she was doing in the span of a speech bubble or two ;)

Figured i'd share how this ended up here.
Im sorry but I just need to just say no, no, and no.
First Storm didn't almost die when she did the jovian pressure feat. she did faint as did Rachel but nowhere did it say they almost died.
Secondly, Storm says it was hard to hold back as she was trying to contain the pressure effect. The strain came from her limiting the effect as to focus only the Lethal Legion and not from creating the pressure attack itself:

If she had just performed the feat indiscriminately she would have gotten the job done but she could have also killed xandra and the host of others around her . So I think people concluding she was straining because she was reaching some sort of limit to her abilities are misinterpreting the panel.
Or we could just agree that we all care deeply for her well being...if she has epistaxis regardless -- and damn Brand's ambition to even think she can take Sol from Storm -- I hope she nosebleed TRYING though -- *evil laugh*

Exactly I believe the surface they mentioned was the cre because,
I bar can't contain a nuclear explosion and strain Rachel's extreme tk it can't even crush a human. Then we come to the sword pressure feat where storm creates enough pressure that it would have killed Joana someone capable of tanking weapons which can slice a singularity with ease.
