I love him too he bestowed the goddess back to herself.
what i find so funny is that Coates never said he was going to do anything with storm. he just gave her massive development out of the blue when her home office was treating her like **** but for some fans he never did enough. they whined why won't he explain her goddess powers for example. yet Hickman and crew have said they have big plans for her and haven't delivered at all yet some of these same fans praise him. its the hypocrisy for me.
I think the regent is above commanding the sword space ship. The regent is the ruler hence all sword ships are for them. I remember the marauders 20 cover where she is looking up at the stars.
oh yea I agree the regent would have more authority but if the regent spot went to someone else these big plans could possibly also mean protecting the new arrako.

Hmmm If they had imagination to hey would use this opportunity to delve deep into her divinity. As she can easily be seen as god now.

I guess so.... Hopefully whatever the role it's storm getting the development she deserves.

it would be nice but I doubt it.

agreed!
So do Storm and Isca get to be besties now?
it would be interesting to see them have some type of interaction but doubtful they would ever be besties lol

Interesting to read the replies to my question! Always nice seeing different perspectives.
Also, my friend pointed this out but Storm has been heading to Mars since the X-Men: Red days. It was in front of us all this time :D
This whole regent thing has me worried because once she gets that fancy title she might disappear from all books entirely only being name dropped as this godlike figure. And honestly I don't know if I would like that but as anyone I would wait and see.
I still don't think it's her simply because I'm used to being disappointed lol! and the commander of the second SWORD ship seems somewhat redundant lol. But either way, I'm worried about this too and also a little worried about all of the power "displays" as well. Some characters, once they have received god like power boosts and important titles, have disappeared and become much more of a background character than before. The excuse is always that they are considered "too powerful" for stories. However, the real issue is that the production team has no creative interest or narrative investment in developing a place for that particular character. That's why I keep saying, Storm needs her own book or a book that centers around her. This would show just how serious they are about truly increasing her status and value in the MU. Coates did all he could to the point of even angering BP fans to make her important and give her a place. The Xbooks have far more agency and space to do even more. So for me, even if she becomes the Regent of Sol, is a goddess, or becomes an elemental being finally, if she has no book to anchor herself in, then she is devoid of any true defining value and will continue to just be wallpaper or a marketing label.
I get your frustration on this the feat is spectacular and is a homage to her power... But it still doesn't help her charachter bit hopefully things would change soon I guess.
I already know her power is spectacular though. She's more popular than Jean and equal in popularity to Cyclops...you'd never know that reading the comics.
-
I already know her power is spectacular though. She's more popular than Jean and equal in popularity to Cyclops...you'd never know that reading the comics.
I think she is way more popular than cyclops based upon appearances in comics alone. when you add to that merchandising such as video games, then tv appearances she more than eclipses him there.
-
Another meaningless feat. Great.
Meanwhile Cyclops and Jean get to be the co-main stars of the new flagship team. Remember when Storm was as important to the franchise as they were?
Since when does creating an entire climate and atmosphere on an a whole different planet become "meaningless" lol
-
I've said it before but when I somewhat recently re-read the Claremont run (his first one) I came to the conclusion that the story of the X-men is Storm's story. Storm should have a main focus in a book. You don't have X-men without her. The new X-men team would be perfect to me if Storm was on the team (maybe replaced Polaris who I also love but come on for Storm I'd do it). Or have two teams and let Storm lead her own so she's not co-leading with Scott and Jean.
Hopefully Storm gets a major role in a book. Sword might be good but Storm needs to be in a major/flagship book imo.
Maybe she will play a big role in Inferno since it will involve characters on the Quiet Council. Though like many of you I expect she might be off doing stuff in Space, but I guess we'll see. With easy access to Krakoan gates maybe she can do both.

yes I personally am glad cyclops and Jean are co-leading the team together without storm. I think to effectively shine they would have to take the approach similar to 90s where Scott had his own team and storm hers. I did however like the recent xmen story where the three of them worked together to save the Shiar empire. it worked nicely in that setting because there was no defined leader and they all seemed to be equal to one another. unfortunately anytime storm is a support she ends up getting the short end of the stick.
-
I've known Storm was spectacular since I started reading X-Men comics back in 1984. She's had her great writers, her mediocre writers and her piss-poor shitty writers, just as Scott and Jean, throughout their decades history, it has never changed my opinion of her or made her any less spectacular.
It really isn't a popularity contest.

It's pretty good. a light drink but it will mess up before you know it. lol. i hope this doesn't sound boogie but i just can't do bottom shelf on anything other than wine. That is where i get unsure. Oh and Tequila. I don't know what is in tequila but it erases my memories. lol it's the only drink if i have too much it kills my memories it seems because my mind is like a vault and usually i can go in and pull things out but with tequila they just aren't there to pull out. lol

I totally get that. While I'm a top-shelfer myself, I do like to explore the lower depths on occasion...you can be pleasantly surprised, quite often.

Small request. Not good with art or anything.
Can someone make a Storm Marque.
You have creative control.
But I would like her Tiara in the back center and her Name in front of it.

You are preaching... The fact that the whole regent of Sol and possible beyond because the regent would be leading the expansion and reign of the mutants, is criminal. I mean wolverine, COTA, trial of magneto and able all exist. I won't come for xcorp because Trinary, Monet and Selene needed their own book ages ago. It's disheartening like she is going to simply feature in sword? I doubt she would have any true presence if regent aside the godly monarch that hangs over everyone's head but isn't seen.
I already know her power is spectacular though. She's more popular than Jean and equal in popularity to Cyclops...you'd never know that reading the comics.
Actually storm is only seccond to wolverine in popularity, the only one I can think of in her league is xavier and magneto. Jean and cyclops are also up there but storm is above them in popularity, this is not only because she is sooo amazing but because she has and is the most prominent poc charachter in marvel and possibly all comics aside black panther, blade is also up there too.
Since when does creating an entire climate and atmosphere on an a whole different planet become "meaningless" lol
They mean how does it help her charachter.... Like they know she is god tier but what is she doing in the mythos aside being a god tier charachter. Honestly I understand that.

I think if storm moves to sword it would be elevated in popularity. She is the biggest female charachter marvel has irrespective of their push of carol and Natasha both of whom deserve their break. But they simply can't eclipse her....storm has that je ne sais quoi that can only be found in wonder woman. They are both literally divine in essence and in charachter. Other female charachters are amazing but storm is just just something else entirely.
-

I would agree Wolverine is the only x character more popular than storm.
-
I have to say, although I’m impressed with what Storm did in Planet Size, it was kind of underwhelming. They could have done much more with the art to show what she was actually doing and could have gave her at least one more scan showing her sculpting the climate. Is Storm supposed make a big appearance in S.W.O.R.D #6?

Most published female comic charachter.
-
Which, as lovely as it sounds, is ultimately an empty accolade along with "most popular" and "most stand out" if...going by some of the sentiment voiced here and elsewhere, the writers keep ignoring just how spectacular she is and not giving her the place to be front and centre. But it's great her fans keep the passion alive.

we believe so but we do not have any proof of this just yet
Most published female comic charachter.
indeed. I dont know why stating the FACT she is the most popular female character in her appreciation thread have some so bothered. we know she isn't utilized properly often times not being front and center; however, even if those things are true it doesn't make the claim about her popularity less true. in fact, its because of this her fans want writers to give her the proper due respect she deserves.

just in case you forgot this was done by the girls at Marvel. Who would have thought the creators over at marvel would care about such silly empty accolades as who is their top female character???
-
I'm not at all bothered...I'm apathetic.
And seeing as how my post was misconstrued...I applaud those accolades, as empty as they are. As I said...at least her fans recognise her value, even if it seems, by certain estimations (not mine), the writers and editors don't.
-
a lot of what you are saying goes without doing so. of course her fans would see value in the fact she is popular because we as fans find appreciation in these things. what I dont understand is why is there a need to highlight that there are some who don't fancy her, specifically her writers when fans are aware of this?
-
Because my point stands...if the fan-recognition does not translate to what's actually written then...it's all hollow. Nice, good for a sound-bite and a click but hollow none-the-less.
-

True that, but that is an accolade nonetheless. Though it's disheartening that writer's don't see her beyond her featuring power.
-
its not just fans. there is a literal video of marvel employees who stated she was their favorite. she's is more popular than cyclops, she is more popular than jean, rogue, Emma etc., and stating this fact does not mean anyone here is making it a popularity contest, which was your initial point before inserting her lack of use by the xoffices. again, stating the fact she is their most popular character behind Wolverine doesn't mean we are not aware of her shitty treatment by the xoffices. posters even pointed to this after her climate creation display in ps.
I would love marvel and DC to do another crossover like this, though I'm certain wonder woman would win a fan voted story due to the crappy foxmen movies.
