Might be a bit crass, but I am really not one for euphemisms and sugar-coating:
Was it not racist af for the X-office to blame Coates for them not having anything particularly of note planned for Storm? I felt a certain way about that and feel that the X-group doesn't get enough grief for that. That came off as shady to me, to put it extremely lightly.
And this is unrelated to Storm specifically, but adding on to what I perceive as shadiness, them trying to unass Franklin Richards from the Fantastic Four team was suspect to me too.
This is why it is important for writers of colour to be given the chance to write charachters of colour. Because aside a few white writers none have the bandwidth to care about storm or her development. It is really amazing how kate has more development in just 20 issues of marauders than storm has in over 20 years. Everyone keeps growing and changing meanwhile storm is a shadow of her claremont era self. I am honestly done with all that. If she could switch offices and move to wakanda full time I won't object at all. The mess doesn't involve her why should she be there, the children have Emma, Dani,Magik, Warpath and others they would be fine.
Nightcrawler is developing a new religion for the island. Magneto and xavier run the island. Beast is their diplomat. Moira is the president in the shadows. Like what at all is storm doing there are you saying kate and bishop can't save refugees in their own? They need storm that badly? Yet she doesn't do anything only at issue 20 do we even know she has been an active part of the marauders. It's simple if they do not have plans for her they should just say it and let her go to the BP office or somewhere else. I won't be surprised if the big story revolves around children of the atom in the end.
Like it was a big excuse to bring in the arraki mutants. That could have been done easily without 22 damn issues.
Beloved you are speaking facts. The truth of the matter is that all the characters making the big decisions on krakoa are white. The majority of the creative team on the xoffuces are white. Its not a coincidence. Thats why I'm over the whole wait and see approach. I most certainly will support books that put respect on ororos jame but at this point I've yet to see a real story do that with a couple of exceptions of the last few marauder issues. again all of this is fact and I appreciate you for explaining it as you did.

my friend you reading my mind. personally I don't want to say its racist but I certainly believe it was tacky and unprofessional to a degree to do that. Coates clearly is a huge fan of the xmen but I would imagine dealing with some of the petty forces there left a sour taste in his mouth. They totally should get more grief for doing that because there was still a certain segment of the fandom that believed that bs and tried to hold it against Coates. Scott, is that his name, returned the favor by saying your boy ain't even a mutant. see petty can work both ways and I loved it. lol

This is true and it is sad that it was the case. It definitely casts a horrible light on the Guggenheim era with all the hammer bs.

I hate the hammer thing sooo much. It felt like storm as a charachter and a god was centered around Thor and his divinity. It's basically a high profile glorified Kamala is now Ms Marvel, or Miles is now spiderman or Riri is now ironheart. It was disrespectful and a shame to her legacy and honestly not a good hammer as it was made to corrupt her.
Storm is not the goddess of thunder her ultimate power is not a thunderstorm, she governs all weather damn it and forces that determine all weather. Her divinity embodies that and more as the hadari yao is the one who preserves the balance in the natural world it's basically a divinification of her already natural talents as she naturally can feel the entire planet and the universe at large.
-
I don't really want to make a whole thread for this. But what role/ stories would have you wanted to see from Storm during the Decimation era? Right after the mutant race goes through it's greatest travesty she gets married to T'Challa and we have already discussed how Marvel can't seem to handle her being part of two franchises.

yeah that hammer was brought back solely for that purpose. it just seemed so silly and childish honestly.

Storm was originally granted stormcaster by Loki when she didn't have power. It was meant to restore the power she no longer had access to but she eventually turned loki and his power down. She has zero need for it when her power was restored so having her use it is in a way a means for Guggenheim to showcase storm glorifying norse lore. to me the imsgery6of an African woman praying to a diety and instead of an African one hearing her prayers the white morse God one responding does feel racist to me. gold and how Guggenheim chose to depict black peoples in that light was really off-putting for me.

Very honestly it was alot at that time period.
Its a mix bag . Already in the pages of X-Men she went back to check on a mutant who protect a small villiage and with D- day was one of the depowered. Unfortunately before her arrival she/he was killed and I believe the villiage burn,(off the top of my head can't remember the issue)
I would have like to see more of that. Seeing some of the allies Storm made on the way and how outside of the Xmen she international. Mix in with what they're doing now with Muarader of grabbing refugees into the 198 compound. While being Queen of Wakanda she would have some really great Intel on threats to the now endanger species and take matter into her own hands leaving Wakanda out of it and some what into it.(a little friction in her new role)
Her team could of been made up of some key divers group to fit the global team. Like sunspot Monet, Dust , Ect
Some key Morlocks, and some new ones like the one she was unfortunately unable to save. And just and Yukio. You'd have my money and subscription.

hmmmm good question. I would have really wanted to see ororo campaigning for better relations between humans and mutants, which is what Xavier mentioned their union wiuld help. This could be done through schools, businesses, and other organizations including super-powered teams where interactions were more integrated. Through this campaign there would be emphasis on communicating that mutants are human despite their differences. I think that would have been really impactful to see that.
agreed to all of this. Jordan d white once mentioned that it didn't make sense for her powers to work in space and I was dumbfounded. how could you say that as an xmen editor. im like did you miss one of the biggest runs of the xmen written by Claremont where he literally explains her powers are intensified in space because of the vast amounts of energy at her disposal?
wait when the Coates show her manipulating solar energy from the sun? are you talking about this?

I was referring to this. I’m sorry I said Coates, I meant Greg Pak.

that was such a bad ass moment. I kinda wonder what would have occurred had Storm not been flown to space.

He is one that at least made her do more than shoot lightning for that I am thankful but he also said she was a crazy girl believing she was a goddess.

I think I recall Pak taking the approach he did in the series because he wanted Ororo to be relatable. At the time I thought it was ok but in hindsight it would have been best to embrace these attributes of the character. its what makes many of her fans love her.

For the record-I don't care for Coates. HOWEVER there is ZERO excuse to try to blame Coates for NOTHING being done with Storm by the X-Office.
You mean to tell me Superman can be in Justice League, Superman, Action Comics, Superman Man of Steel and cameo in Batman or Doomed-yet Storm can't?
Miles Morales is judging school, The Champions & being Spider-Man. He was KIDNAPPED for MONTHS in his book and in Bendis's last run laid up in the hospital with Peter WATCHING him for weeks. Yet Miles is still passing his classes.
No one questions that.
It takes very LITTLE to note in a Storm solo that this takes place before Black Panther #21-25.
How many times did we see those notes in comics of the past?

If it was me-doing a Storm Queen of Wakanda book. Both have a book that does not require them together all the time.
I would use her book to expand more of Wakanda's humanitarian side. She uses resources to help depower mutants find or return to their homes.
Since Tag as we learned was NOT wanted by his family-he's the surrogate son to the couple or you use him to introduce Evan from X-Men Evolution.
That is arc one.
Arc 2.
She helps the X-Men look for still powered mutants like Shane Shooter and lets start build an early version of Karoana.
Have a heaven for mutants if they need it.
Arc 3.
Storm holds a meeting of Medusa, Emma and others about what can be done to prevent another decimation. A mental wellness arc for heroes.
And yes I am doing by ear because I never read that Decimation story. So I am really winging it. Sorry.
I just think a Storm book should be a checklist of what needs to shown and finally put in canon before cancellation. So there is no debate.
If I am keeping her married-I want to show what a Queen of Wakanda's duties are. Because there is so much of Wakanda that we don't know about.
Does the Queen have male bodyguards? Is she trained to fight?
Tag the surrogate son-what is his duties?

oooh i really like your ideas! that would have been nice to see in a side book mini if hudlin couldn't have included it in the main bp book.
