1. Absolutely! I can't tell you how many times I've come across readers who say it would take time for her to use her powers or of course writers whove expressed she needs "weather" for her powers to work. Its quite annoying to see from readers but it is a whole other level of frustrating when writers write her in such a fashion. I remember fraction mentioning she couldn't make it rain inside of a dome. there was no need for her to do it either but it came off as he he wanted to purposefully show her in a was to depower or even devalue her. and those fans would lose their sh!t thats for sure.
2. oh ok no worries boo.
I would have been inclined to give lobdell the benefit of the doubt but he goes on to say "immune to weather what does that even mean? thst she doesn't get wet?"

he completely upended what Claremont has essentially said a few times in the regard using the same language to point out her absurd it must be for anything of the sort to be said.
Yeah well Lobdell is a racist so I'm not surprised.
Ororoswind brought the thunder and BKyss brought the lightning. Under Ewing...SWORD is the book to read if you're truly a fan of Storm.
thank you so very much. I told you guys this interview would be lit lol

really how so boo???
This was one of the things i hated most about the 90s. Every white character the sky seemed to be the limit and the one black female it seemef like certain writers were on a mission to shape her as less than but what is innmue to weather is harder to understand than but by a radioactive spider. And on the flip they were trying to give storm fans a reputation for calling bull and make it seem like fans wete being unreasonable. Its like no, we see you. Because of that ceetain writers from that time i have to think 3 or 4 times before i purchase their qork, lobdell being one. Especially aonce at the same time he had a plot of trying to basically make jean all powerful or was that seagle. Either way it was the cabin story and around the same time
absolutely. there is a lot of vitriol this fandom has to deal with from petty fans as well as mods but the silver lining to it all is that we endured a lot of trolling to finally land in a great place. that interview that Mr Ewing gave is so validating for so many reasons and it feels great to finally have someone on our side working creatively within the xoffices.
I pulled this from how science works
"A hurricane also releases energy through the formation of clouds and rain (it takes energy to evaporate all that water). If we crunch the numbers for an average hurricane (1.5 cm/day of rain, circle radius of 665 km), we get a gigantic amount of energy: 6.0 x 10^14 Watts or 5.2 x 10^19 Joules/day!
This is equivalent to about 200 times the total electrical generating capacity on the planet! NASA says that "during its life cycle a hurricane can expend as much energy as 10,000 nuclear bombs!" And we're just talking about average hurricanes here, not Katrina."
storm channeled the energies of not just a hurricane, not just a planet, but billions of planets. that should give us a glimpse as to how powerful the showing was.
It's is a feat that is truly mind boggling
It's is a feat that is truly mind boggling
seriously. if you start looking at the numbers what storm did there is actually pretty scary.
did you read the aipt interview? it was sooo good.
now that we know mr. al Ewing is going to write hr with the goddess cred Mr. Coates gave her I wonder how she will use this power and against who? will we see her single handedly taking out Dormammu??????

Cosmic feats for sure and divine powers would all be on display.... He stressed that storm is going to be written as a very powerful powerful charachter.... He had been brainstorming for it.

lmfao oh no...... you took me out with this comment I wasn't expecting this.

Well, there was talk going around about how much he hated Storm also....
So this is why I always side eye anyone who uses the way he wrote Storm as the standard

I wish my friends from Twitter could share some of the creative displays of power they want to see from storm.
from a cosmic perspective I definitely want to see more manipulation of star energy but I am curious to see how he will distinguish bewmtween her regular displays of power and her godhead abilities. this im so ready to see.
I really want to know what this Mysterium thing is and its connection to the Storm (I risk she's the only one who can use %100 of the material without getting hurt), universal/multiversal talents are coming ??

well there you have it. I can't say I'm shocked but it definitely explains how he nerfed the character in a huge way after all the work Claremont did to layer the character with substance.
thank you posting that beloved.

its the mutants form of currency and a precious metal. im not sure what other qualities it may possess but I know some hinted ot was a cosmic stone but it definitely isn't that.

That is what is very interesting about storm in the power department and sets her aside from all omega mutants. Because what are her limits her omega powerset is virtually unlimited couple that with her divine aspect and it's just head explosion thinking about how vast her power is. I believe the omega side would be more grounded in the feats more scientific, but the godhead would be more a wizard did it kinda feat all those crazy frog rain and locust hurricanes all fall under this category lol, also her voice would change in her godhead state being more bold and coloured differently. All in all very excited

Bingo my friend. I truly believe what you described is why Duggan described Storm as the Omega's Omega. The one aspect that truly distinguishes her from the other omegas is her duvinity; that she is an actual goddess. Magneto loves to play as one but Ororo is the real deal as her birth right demands. I like your description too. Her omega abilities would be grounded in science and physics. Her godhead would allow her to utilize forces not necessarily grounded in reality. I also think when her that mode i would love to see a boost in stats. Like speed and durability.

I want to see it increase her stats. Teleportation, Immortality or High Invulnerability, Massive Energy Blasts, Magical Weather like Thor without having to disrupt natural flows, the ability to perceive the entire galaxy or universe as a medium, and affect weather any and everywhere. Turning a star into a tornado would be really cool also.
Well, I definitely feel a sense of relief about Storm's future in the hands of Mr. Ewing. I wasn't really worried but you never really know about these writers. Her entrance could have been a one hit wonder deal. But the fact he seems to be as much of a Storm fanboy as some of us here gives me faith that he's going to do her right.
Now the fact that he's actively been thinking about future feats for her makes me happy but I'm also holding my foot on his neck so to speak. He set the bar high so I'm expecting him to deliver in spades. Storm is in a position of power that would technically allow her to use her powers more 'forcefully' than normally and given her physical position in space she's naturally amped and no longer bound by trying to maintain a fragile ecosystem.
And lastly, I hope he does touch on her godhood and what it does to her powers. He mentioned she was a Goddess and it's a part of her character but I noticed he didn't specifically mention he'd showcase her powers in a divine manner. But I could be over thinking it.
Today is a good day to be a Storm fan that's for damn sure!
Is Al Ewing interactive with fans on twitter?
He said he wouod be continuing the legacy that Coates created for her. Coates established that peoples faith in her makes her more powerful. As the Queen of Sol she now is responsible for protecting not only earth, but Arrako and the entire solar system. This is enough faith to probably propel her to defeat the mights of Dormammu or The Living Ego if only the faith from Wakanda allowed her to defeat Adversary.
What happens when you make an Omega Level Mutant even more powerful? You get the OMEGAS OMEGA!

I would be totally all for this!!! if he has her doing a lot of this I would die and the comic community would flip their wigs I would be here for all of it!!!

My first thought when reading what Pop posted was "They really must want to see threads run red with blood from exploding heads".

yes the interview made it pretty clear that al is a fanboy. I mean look at everything we've seen thus far, references to the acanti, parallels in current stories to her roguestorm days, hadari yao. I mean he's giving us her greatest hits over a span of one issue so I can't even fathom what he has in store for her. I knew he wouldn't disappoint but he is definitely exceeding my expectations.
and agreed today and I would go so far as to say the hickman era in general makes it a great time to be a storm fan!!!

I would love to see the Storm interacting with astronomical events in space, starting first with it in space without using any life support, and also influencing / causing / interrupting space events like Nebulae, Black Hole, Gravity, Supernovae... And not forgetting more magical feats, in fact a good thing to see would be her hearing a prayer from someone far away, I wanted to see her transcend dimensions...
My first thought when reading what Pop posted was "They really must want to see threads run red with blood from exploding heads".
Her greatest hits reminded me of what Pak wrote in STORM and he was also a fanboy for the character IIRC. Which is good because he did good by Storm feat wise even if the overall story itself was a bit of a yawn.

ALLLL of this! I'd love for even the basic cosmic stuff to be touched on. Like moving from point A to point B. Without a Krokan flower she's pretty much stranded unless there's a teleporter around. She can ride lightning to travel and there is lightning in space so I'd like to see her maybe ride from mars to Krakoa in true Storm "make an entrance" fashion.

She really does! Storm has been needing a level up for ages now. And to be frank I don't want to hear sh!t from N-E one if/when Storm gets those upgrades. Jean (not phoenix) can go toe to toe with a hungry Galactus and reform her own body by siphoning psychic energy, Iceman is immortal and can control an army of ice soldiers, Magneto is just Magneto. I'm not even getting into the others.
I don't think it's too much to ask to let Storm really break free.

All forces and elements of cosmic weather. The interstellar and intergalactic medium is just brimming with possibilities. The ort cloud, heliosphere, quasars, galactic cores, nebulae...etc. we are about to witness storm cement her omega omega title.

1. yeah I was kinda expecting a bit more story wise from pak. in hindsight he certainly could have done more to make the stories more exciting and ones that were not retelling of past relationships.
2. she's the only one who truly deserves to break free. of the ones you listed all of those characters are just mutants. so the fact they've done all that while the real and true goddess has been sitting on the sidelines is unacceptable. she totally needs to be released from all those things that are holding her back.

I'll be happy when we get to see her interact and fight with some of the cosmic heavy weights. Manipulation feats are nice but the real possibilities come from the fights. How do you win against someone who can fly through stars or can shoot enough energy to shatter a planet? How often did pre-Regent Storm face an enemy that she couldn't wipe off the map if she REALLY wanted to? Like common sense wise, not plot wise. Take for example that guy from Marauders when she "Glassed his ass". A proper Storm would have incinerated him on the spot or sent him into orbit.
For the first time in a minute Storm is going to actually have to push her powers to hurt these beings who deal with the daily ravages of space with little to no problem.

I'll be forever tilted that the grand threat turned out to be Kenji. I love Pak's love for the character but that was just insulting. I mean ripping a hole in the ozone layer and magnetic field and holding back a tsunami helped sooth my internal pain, but it was stlll insulting.
LOL I was trying to be nice in case non Storm fan we're peeping in, but I do agree. To bring back an old title that didn't make sense back then but could be applied now, Storm could be the only beyond omega level mutant thanks to her divinity.

yes the rogues she has do not inspire her to really go all out. I thought death would hsve been a good one but she beat him pretty easily while drunk.
what you mentioned I believe will be what she will encounter with the arrakii for sure. they will push her to go beyond what she has typically had to deal with.

I did enjoy how she beat Death; I just hate they had to take away her powers to show that Storm is tactical enough to use an enemy's own power against them.
I'm hoping that's the case! These mutants are battle hardened and 1000s of years old.

I didn't even know what a Kenji was before that issue. it seemed to come out of left field. I wonder how much of what he wrote was dictated by editorial. he has Aero doing pretty awesome stuff in her solo and its clear she is a rip-off of storm so it had me wondering why we didn't see some of this in her first ongoing.
its all love between us and other fandoms. I dont want other fandoms in any way to feel unwelcome or uncomfortable but for far too long storm has been overshadowed by characters like Magneto and iceman. in the case of magneto, they pointed to how he always would win against the xmen even with her on the team and with iceman it was because he was an omega and storm was not. So I hope that storm finally getting her proper due and her fans being happy about this wouldn't be off-putting to fans of other characters, especially when factual statements are simply being made. She is the only real god on the list of known omegas from my understanding.
