I am all for nerding out as well! But I think that if you re-read the beginning, the creation of the magnetosphere is indeed created by Magneto with Vulcan and Hope’s assist. Magneto’s power is what is ‘stirring the sauce’ to compress and create the molten core which in turn creates the magnetosphere and gravity. It’s all stated there and showcasing Magneto on the top half of page 4.
Wait if he can move molten iron why did he need magma again?
-
Yes exactly I mean they all have to do something and him just bring a plan and throwing iron into the ground was not going to cut it! He also had to stir the sauce ...lol
lolol yea I thought it was impressive when it was just climate on a planetary scale so anything extra that she may have done is icing on the cake for me. that said I think it deserves to be noted that her creating climate on an alien planet is a first for her.
glad you agree.

I’m all for expanding ororo’s powers and role but this exposure it’s really fake, she could have been the one to devise a plan to terraform mars but once again its either xavier or magneto pulling the strings, it’s like the last 20 years were all for nothing
-
The way I am out of by lightning now.... I mean it looks good and all but it feels like lightning lass is waiting for her moment to strike again.
I hope not! I need to see some solar winds, maybe some ice feats in space. Making it rain on another planet or melting some of the ice on mars or Earth's moon itself would be so amazing
This was basically a magneto book with omega cameos, I did enjoy the storm panel and what the data page implied her role though not confirmed to be.
So true on that first part. More power to those that enjoyed it, but it’s just not enough. You can tell we are hungry for Storm when one panel is enough though she is in the background for the entirety of major events.

You know all of a sudden the high this book gave me has left. Like creating a climate is godtier and all but like is that it? Her entire purpose I am eating for the sword issue to get my bag if not imma head to variant comics the do the best poc protagonist by far.

I think one can say that she had an amazing feat today but also acknowledge she hasn't done anything of substance storywise within the xbooks. this is why next week will be very important to see what her exact role will be moving forward.

Oh it really is impressive like I won't take that from Duggan this time. He did something. But ultimately this feat is not as interesting as what Hickman had her do in Giant size that was just *french kiss*

what feat did she do in Giant size that was more impressive than creating climate on a planetary level?

Awwwww I feel like we are all loosing or lost or even never had the high..... Hmmm what you gotta do when this is an xavier magneto story.

yes I agree. this is cute but now show us exactly what you have planned for storm.
-
what feat did she do in Giant size that was more impressive than creating climate on a planetary level?
Girl using the nanobots to build a storm is more interesting than a climate attack. I mean in scale nope the climate is godtier she is literally performing god feats. But the nanobots feats was a versatility feat which expands the possiblity of her powerset.
yes I agree. this is cute but now show us exactly what you have planned for storm.
The plan is to see how long the mofos can keep stringing us fans along. They probably have a betting pool worth thousands of dollars by now.

Feel also like the writers are using her to make themselves look progressive but their hearts and minds are not really in it, I dare them to put their money were their mouth is.

it was impressive in its own way but ororo has never created a new climate for a planet. this is like Thor level feats truthfully

they been stringing her fans along since their marriage was annulled i wouldn't be surprised if that pot was in the millions. lol
Ohk this one is too good they knew what they were doing by giving this one panel.
indeed it was. this is kinda an update go what her powers have been stated to do. she has never made weather that wasn't already there. not only did she create climate on a global scale but she made an atmosphere that was completely different from its original makeup. its a new power display.

Why are you allowing others to take away your joy? If you enjoyed the issue and Storm's presence and was happy with it, for whatever reason, then that has nothing to do with what anyone else thinks, feels, believes about it. Their opinions do not matter.
Storm would be so disappointed...

While what Storm achieved was impressive in technicality, the way it was written and shown was very underwhelming imo. She’s creating the climate but can’t have more than one text box to talk about it? And the panel is just lightning… I would have loved to see wind and energy patterns and whatnot. Meanwhile, Jean didn’t technically do much, but her presence was much stronger in this issue than Storm, and had multiple full panels and text boxes dedicated to what she was doing. It just the way Storm was written did not reflect the magnitude of what she achieved. To any casual reader, it’s no more impressive than the one panel dedicated to Iceman or to Vulcan or to Proteus. Plus, in the last full-text pages, they can mention Iceman freezing the surface but can’t throw in a mention to Storm? Mmhm if they wanted her to have created the magnetosphere they should have mentioned it imo.

It's not others stealing my joy it's the realization that a feat as great as this is followed by usually a great drought with sprinkles of rain every now and then. It's an understanding that this was the best showing she would have for a decade or so. And knowing that it makes enjoying this fleeting.

Jean was everywhere and I was like huh? Can't Jaime think on his own? Why is she here and there but I guess they needed everyone to be relevant. I love jean but in planet building? I guess they needed walking talkies.
-
Granted it's not Claremont-levels of over-exposition (that would obscure at least half of that beauty-full artwork) but the captions/descriptions in this case do give the reader room to imagine what is being done.
-
Of course it was impressive. It was a whole freakin' planet. Some have been saying that she is fully capable of doing exactly this...and now that she's done it...it's boring, and unimpressive because she's not taking charge managing and directing Erik, Jean and Iceman and everybody else on what to do with their powers and how to do it.
If that was the expectation...clearly the point of this particular issue and its participants was lost on some.
Pretty much. She did what she needed to do. Or should I say. She did her part. The same as Magneto. The same as Vulcan. Etc....

Ahh...so you are killing your own joy. Very well...carry on.
Storm will still be disappointed.

Exactly! They can give Jean a whole page of her making a psychic sperm cell but can’t give a single panel showing the climate that Storm created other than lightning bolts? We shouldn’t be taking these crumbs lol

The past editorial notes and statements didn't obscure imagination they even fueled it more in stronger detail. Comics aren't the bible there are no twenty eight interpretations to one statement. Storm crated a climate is storm creating a climate plain and simple any thing added well isn't cannon and as such redundant to the mythos or story being said.

Well I never meant to take away your joy, I just want more meat to the narrative reserved to Ororo, duggan did very little with her despite all those marauders issues, she needs to lead not just formally but substantially

Disappointed that I am being realistic that the xoffice is all talk and little to no action? I guess we are reading from different offices then. Some are content with basic repetitions of a charachter whilst others simply want more for the charachters they love. Guess different strokes for different folks.

I agree with your first point. I made a summary statement a few pages back. visually it would have been nice to see the atmosphere on a global scale going from one that was "dead" to one starting to stir with clouds, life, and mobility.

Storm created a Martian climate. Absolutely. I thought there was something poetic in how Duggan described what she was doing.
"...as her thunder reigns from on high...the Goddess marries the land and sea with winds that will nourish this mutant garden-world forevermore"
Yes, it's up for some measure of interpretation as it doesn't say just how she's doing it in exact detail but at the end of it all...Storm created an entire planetary weather system basically from scratch.
(And even if they explicitly said HOW she did it...there would still be a few in here wanting to "debate" that it can't be as described.)
Sword better deliver, I’m tired of the fake window dressing that goes no where
Same. I'm hoping SWORD gets really good soon.
-
yes that's why I thought it was impressive she created an entire ecosystem on a global scale from nothing essentially. this is a first so not sure why it would be an issue. it in and of itself was a great feat.

It was a beauty-full moment. I enjoy it and appreciate it, fully and without reservation.
