A writer can't turn a character into something they already are. Especially when they don't bring any hardcore details to the table.

Reminds me of those days when Storm ran around naked. Miss those days...
He was not hired to write her. He was hired (and FAILED) to write Black Panther. The one with the movie and 3 Oscars.
When dealing with different editorial offices-they can and choose to NOT pay attention to what others do with their property. Especially the X-office towards Black Panther.
The difference between Wolverine and Storm and you can toss in Prodigy in Young Avengers is DEVELOPMENT.
Wolverine in a book is not going to do anything to change or define him. He is what he is. He is whatever the X-Office has made him and in his case folks follow that version.
Storm, Prodigy and Sunspot would be different.
Storm as a goddess at least for Wakanda comes from WHERE? Not an X-book.
Prodigy being Bisexual comes from Young Avengers. Not the X-books.
How much background and Kitty's talking post has Storm been the last 20 years in X-books?
How much has Prodigy been that since New X-Men academy ended?
So to a writer OUTSIDE of the X-Office-those are clean slates to do whatever you wanted.
We saw this with Firestar. Who did her more justice? New Warriors? 99 Avengers? X-Men (before New Warriors)?
Now you got an issue. You can have Storm do all that stuff in Black Panther and attract (or sucker) Storm fans to buying it-WHO benefits? BLACK PANTHER.
You underwrite Storm in X-Men books-WHO gets SCREWED? STORM. She is suppose to be selling X-MEN not Black Panther.
So when you have potential writers look at who they want to write-the see the Panther resume and the Storm resume. Guess who wins?
It is the job of the X-OFFICE to sell Storm. Part of the reason she and others struggle to get solos is because they never get to be the center of attention.
Give folks a reason to want a Storm book that does not require Wakanda or Kitty or Logan or whoever. In some format.
Well it would make sense to interview him regarding her especially since at one point he said he would be writing her solo.
I know they can do whatever they like but it doesn't mean readers will support the xoffices doing that. Its curious that Duggan even brought Coates up when black panther and his writing of storm in that book wasn't mentioned. Thats an indicator that the xoffices are aware readers enjoyed what he was doing.
Storm was worshipped as a goddess in Kenya and has ancestors of white haired women who extended back to the dawn of humanity. Wakandans being aware of this blessed line and believing in it wouldn't be a stretch considering kenya borders wakanda. Wakanda is an ancient civilization so im most certain they would be aware of this history.
Coates did his homework in Ororo’s inclusion in his BP stories. I listed the examples previously but the goddess narrative didn't come from thin air and given how retcons work wakandans being aware of these white haired women and even some seeing them as divine shouldn't be extreme, especially seeing the wakandan religion wasn't really explored until Coates came along.
I dont disagree that a storm solo should center around her but that doesn't require her previous relationships to be ignored. I think in the case of storm with Hickman writing giant size it proves a book with her name on it can sell. That said, these characters don't exist in bubbles. they exist in a world with many characters across many franchises so the idea that a solo book wouldn't contain some elements of interactions with her love and or fellow krakoans wouldn't seem sensible but I hear your point.
-
Let's go space! I am just so glad storm's mythos can be divorced from wakanda. A lot of BP fans didn't like it and a lot of Storm fans don't like it so why not keep them seperate why can't her legacy and her godhood be explored on it's on. I don't need Storm goddess name to be sounding like japanese cartoon porn anyway, yaoi. Coates literally tried to water Storm down and use her to build up his story and i hope it's never explored again to be honest. I hope the hadari yao is never mentioned again and i hope if and when her godhood is explored its on it's own merits and without a man needing to tell everyone to kneel to empower her. They just trying to lock Storm back in that palace and they failed. Get them stars girl, get them stars.
And i do find it funny that people think it's some conincidence like after using her back to back all of a sudden because she was in the BP books the X-office, the x-office of all offices all of a sudden was like well we won't use her. Let's be honest this was proably going to end up with marvel doing something stupid to change storm to make her a bp character to get around the rights but thank the Storm goddess Disney got the rights back. Claremont of all people just gave Storm away to the BP office and didn't want to write her? Taylor who also loosely mentioned his intentions for X-men red also had to play careful because of it. Storm should never be relegated to guest appearances in her own franchise for a lesser one, or anyone in my opinion. It makes so much sense now. Schism, how she left the book.
Don't let her go again x-books, your team has the power now.
I also now think this is why nothing big happened in her solo, it was literally just travelling around the world rehashing old stuff. Hudlin and Coates almost destroyed storm, especially Hudlin.
If this was in canon it wouldn't be called a anthology. The reason anthology is used is to separate from canon.
That is not what anthology means. The multiple volumes MARVEL COMICS PRESENTS, MARVEL FANFARE, MARVEL HOLIDAY SPECIAL, even X-MEN UNLIMITED to an extent, etc were all anthology books. Some stories may have been out of continuity but determining that something in an collection of stories featuring disparate characters is, automatically, out of continuity, isn't a safe assumption to make.

Exactly if Coates intent was to explore ororo's godhood, why did he need to tie it to anyone. Why couldn't she just show up and he define what it meant all these years when she called herself a goddess when he had her fight adversary. No because he needed it dependent on him and his story. To coates i say, "peace out bra"
When are y’all gonna learn that We made this shit up is not a reliable source?
i almost guarantee marvel will make a storm movie just from a perspective of the black woman's vote etc. There is money there to be made and this can be marketed as a thank you to black females for saving this country. Our true goddesses. If marvel is smart a script is already in the works.
Not to mention as an actual princess if i was disney i would have the offical disney princess version with some tweaks waiting in the wings to back it up.
-
duggan's final comment made me think of a solo or a storm teamlead book, anyways im intrigued to see what happens.

We are on the fake news era, people want to feel good.
While A movie with Storm or even a tv show will be considered on the future, Feige said that they are only on discussing things about x-men.
They announced zero projects about x-men, because it is very complex franchise. FF already got director attached, it is an easier franchise to figure out.
Even star wars feige movie has a writer. Calm down folks
