Yh that makes sense because she has spent time with one of the most powerful telepathic ability in the world she has a handle on how to counter it should she meet it. The problem is that the writer's enjoy forgetting this, lazy writing if you ask me.
Pretty much. I don't keep receipts but i do keep my xmen dvd file on a computer.
Jean Grey braiding Ororo's hair from halfway around the planet was most impressive.

That was Jean being gentle. Like with Carol Danvers, she didn’t want to “fry her synapses.”

1. She was not possessed by the Phoenix.
2. That was a friendly probe, if you will. That would be like Jean putting up a telekinetic shield and Storm attempting to manipulate a cool breeze around Jean only to note, “My breezes aren’t touching you because of your telekinetic shield.” That doesn’t mean Storm couldn’t manipulate gale force winds that would break through Jean’s force field, just that she isn’t choosing to be so forceful. In either case, Jean did what she did in X-Men: Red and that’s canon.
3. Again, Emma, who is not as strong as Jean, was able to remove Storm’s psyche from her body.
1. please see the last post. she had phoenix and cerebro. Ororo even comments and alludes to she wasn't able to do stuff on that magnitude since phoenix.
2. no it took a great amount of effort. both ororo and Jean agree on this as the scans I've posted demonstrates.
3. she did that with a gun and their bodies were switched. what issue did she remove storms psyche because if you are talking about uncanny when they body swapped that wasn't correct.
yes it was.
phoenix AND Cerebro acryually:

Yes, this was during the time Jean hosted the Phoenix, but she was not using it at that moment is what I meant. But yes, she was using Cerebro because Jean's X-Men team had all been infected with blood nanosites by Cassandra Nova, that is why Jean is tired. The nanosites were affecting them on a cellular level.

storms powers were neutralized with a gun by forge so villains using technology to do extraordinary things in a comicbook shouldn't be surprising.
Jean didn’t need the Phoenix Force nor was she in possession of it when she took down Storm, who was out of control, mind you, i.e., she wasn’t holding back, in X-Men: Red.
Frankly, I prefer Jean to be distinguished from the Phoenix Force. She doesn’t need it to siphon psychic energy or to become a being of pure psionic force; she does that all on her own, along with knocking Gladiator, a gang of Silver Surfers, and Galactus on their asses.
I’ve realized why these debates go nowhere. While I am fine with admitting Jean and Storm are equals, some in this thread feel the need to proclaim that Storm has no equal, which is laughable.
The funniest part to me is none of them can ever be equal and none of them can ever truly be more powerful than the other because their powers are undefinable. It's literally situational.

they are not equals. im sorry but just no. for years people expressed that storm was not because she was not an omega but now all the sudden this narrative is changing, after the xoffices acknowledged she is god? I love you friends but again just no. maybe Jean and Xavier, are equals both are incredibly powerful telepath( as he was mentioned for the longest being the most powerful telepath in the universe) and they are both human but the fact storm is an omega, whose power class isn't shared with anyone else, and a literal goddess (divine magical heritage) removes any doubt one can claim they are equals. and there is nothing wrong with that.

I think of characters like Jean as part of Storm pantheon. If in a 1000 years Storm is living as a goddess Jean is right by her side. So i stay 1000% out of Jean vs. Storm. They are soulmates to me. And right or wrong i feel that is what claremont intended. They will have many loves and possibly many lives but they have a level of power and responsibility that they will share forevermore. But that's just me.

This. So. Much. This.
I know that I shouldn’t be shocked at how some of these fan boys/girls rationalize their characters power sets and strengths and fail to see how circular their reasoning is…it comes across as pure desperation to attempt to build up their favorite character at the expense of other characters that they profess to also like.
I have never had fans of a specific character affect my enjoyment of a character until just recently - it surprises me that they don’t realize what a disservice they are to the character.

storms heritage extends beyond the omega classification. her magical heritage alone doesn't allow such a clean to be made and adding her being a literal goddess also removes that argument. if one wants to argue all the omegas are equal just looking at that list that would be incorrect. storm isn't equal to magneto when it comes to manipulating magnetism. conversely he isn't her equal when it comes to weather. again its nothing wrong with characters not being on the same power level.

And neither Storm nor Quentin are equal to Jean in terms of telepathy. And it ALL, even weather manipulation, begins with the mind.

its not a versus and it never has been a versus when discussing the topic here for me but their histories do not make them equals, their current standings don't make the equals, nor does canon. its not versus its simply staring the facts.

I think Jwatson meant by their omega power was that at their level each being immeasurable in their own right for one to win against the other it would be situational.
And neither Storm nor Quentin are equal to Jean in terms of telepathy. And it ALL, even weather manipulation, begins with the mind.
This is a pointless endevour. i mean if we are honest when storm first came back and didn't have her full powers and was a child she was able to take jean out by breaking her concentration by trapping her in a tornado and that was a young storm with faulty powers. This place is much more fun when we avoid trying to make someone more powerful than the other. Jean and Storm would never compete. Storm was willing to die for Jean in Phoenix Saga.
And neither Storm nor Quentin are equal to Jean in terms of telepathy. And it ALL, even weather manipulation, begins with the mind.
fun fact. storms powers require her mind, body and soul to be one. again her powers are quite unique in how they are utilized:

Actually it is more complex than that as storm doesn't need to use her mind to activate weather phenomena... Infact the elements have been known to act without her consent or permission to save her.

It feels like a versus to me. we as individuals have things we are better at than the other but i don't compare us as better or worse and i think that is the point people miss about the omega list. it's not comparable the funny part is at least one of the mutants up there have feat that at the time was undefinable by their power category as we knew it but they did it. therefore undefinable. Everything other characters have done, no matter how impressive can most likely be compared to a feat done by one on that list but theres was more bizarre. I think people are putting more "special" on it than there needs to be.

maybe for some it is but correcting infactual claims made in storms appreciation highly classifies as a versus.
to your point about the list I think that is why Hickman took the approach that he did. its very balanced and measured. also most on that list can die but a bullet to the head so its hardly should be used as a measure to say who is stronger imho.

This is so disingenuous. Canon does. In their most recent battle, Jean took out Storm, AGAIN, who was out of control and not holding back. However, you want to discount that for “reasons,” along with discounting or minimizing all of the times Storm has been possessed or psychically compromised by other characters. You use from canon what benefits your argument and discount the rest or make up some headcanon as to why such and such a thing happened and how it didn’t really count. I can’t even enjoy myself while reading this thread dedicated to a character I love because you and a few others just go on and on about how superior she is to everyone else when she’s been shown time and again to be as vulnerable as all of the rest. It very much is a “versus” thing with you and a few others.
To be fair, this is her thread and I suppose you should be allowed to make ridiculous statements about her, but all it does is turn some of her less fervent fans, like me, off.
