This is not the only movies I've seen for black centric people. I've seen mystical ones with African magical powers, I've also seen leading Businessman who is a black man. There are all kinds of different movies for black people, yes they are much rarer than the ones you mentioned but they do exist out there.
You're not going to get too many Black-centric movies/TV shows coming out of mainstream Hollywood. That's why I'm glad that the streaming services are a place why we can find diverse content featuring Black and other poc. Some pretty good stuff out there.

how do you know they won't sell well?
with the run ending and all the publicity the last few issues have been getting its very possible they will due well considering this.

I don't remember the issue but it was someone she saved and it was like a quote on the page something like. "when she showed up we knew we were safe, we could feel her power, and i'm not talking about that controlling the weather thing..." then something about. "knowing they would be safe."

Something special?! If they wanted to do something special we would have gotten content every week. A storm one shot, A Bp one shot, Blue Marvel. But this is more so they can say "look ya'll we got together with HIP HOP artists and totally respected BHM."

including the announcement his critically acclaimed run is ending and the def jam bits being included seems like marvel is making an effort to publicize it in an effective way to me.

To who though? That's what i'm trying to figure out. Why is all black content linked to hip hop. To me it shows how basic their diversity department is. Let's just keep going for that I can honestly say i won't be getting this and don't know one of those names that was listed. I would have preferred Michelle Obama writing a Storm story if they are trying to team up and say something.

Covers splashed on the white books they are promoting already. The day i get caught up because of a variant is the day i'm done with comics. lol. And why does it always have to be a hip hop artist if rappers is all you can ever find. Brandy don't want to write any stories? It just to me says this is the only way they view their black readers.

I think they are trying to entice black readers but after the Charlemagne stuff I can understand the concern. However, they are not the primary writers of the BP issue so I dont think it should be too much of an issue.

quick question do you know why storm was included in KiB? I asked this question to redjack but he didn't respond. he said he didn't like them as a couple so I didn't think it made much sense for him to include storm considering this. by chance did he ever mention this was requested by editorial?

That's what it feels like. I love the Dixie Chicks, Old Town Road, Leona Lewis, Monica, Brandy, Simon and Garfunkel. I haven't listened to a beyonce song since she started catering to her man. The only rap album i ever bought was dmx very first album. I can't even tell you what a kanye song sounds like except the one leona lewis covered. I always say i grew up living that goonies life not that street life. It doesn't take anything away from it but damn, can we get some representation too.

It's a cash grab. Most will buy it just for their fave artist, and it will probably be a very niche group and definitely not one that will support the book in the long term.

Dude the ringtone on my phone is Gimme Shelter by The Rolling Stones. I'm not a Hip-Hop guy, I'm mostly grunge/classic rock with a smidgeon of metal and I like old school rap(no bitches and hoes, no thugs). Stuff in the vein of Public Enemy.
And I love The Vince Guaraldi Trio(Plays all the Charlie Brown music ).

Let me stop hating. One time for charlemagne and Def Jam for getting their chance.

I do not know, but let's not forget that RedJack, showed the unique, deep love between T'Challa and 'Ro, for which I am glad but I strongly disagree with his wish to revoke Storm's Godhood, something for which Storm fans has fought for several decades. I really like his idea about exploring her African roots, but hell NO on removing her Godhood. The only reason why I don't want him on Storm's solo is exactly because of that. He will ruin something really important about her and her fans. Instead of expanding on it with the African Pantheon which could give Ororo so many enemies and her roster can grow exponentially.
-
Other than proclaiming she's a Goddess and then shooting lightning-which regular mutant Storm does on a daily basis...She's used it like...once? It's clearly not that important.
The way some of you talk it's as though she's been doing Goddess feats since she was born.
She's done more OL feats that are more spectacular and note-worthy than being worshipped my Wakandans and banishing the Adversary.
Being a Goddess does not define who she is. Not in the same way being a Norse God defines who Thor is. Or Bast.

I would think anyone spending over a decade of their life doing anything would be a big part of who they were. Whether you believe it or not to Ororo and some of those people, maybe not all, for over a decade she was their goddess and they did bring her sacrifice and she did bring them rain and they did pray to her. So you can call it whatever you want but it happened for over a decade.
-
Exactatiously.
She didn't spend over a decade being a Goddess and doing Goddess-type things. Time-wise her ascension under Coates' occurred within the last year...somewhere in between XM:Red and HoX 01
Claremont himself acknowledged in XXM that she wasn't a Goddess..."not yet...but had the potential". I believe were her words or similar to them.
-
To the people in giant size x-men #1 they prayed and called for their goddess and she heard their calls and came and one more she took to the sky to make it rain. Whatever you call it their contract was worshipper goddess. To the people who mattered she was fulfilling the contract of when they sacrificed and prayed to her she came and answered their prayers. Whatever you call it that is doing goddess type things. Maybe your mind is too wrapped into the feats of what a god should be rather than what a god should actually do.
And in marvel canon of what it takes to be a god since so many love canon storm was just that. Some don't like it, it can be retconned anyway people want after the fact but unless every last villager says they didn't believe it that is what she was and she believed it. If people want to make that less than what it is that's on them.
Either way I ain't getting paid. Lol
-
If we're citing canon...again...Claremont himself had Storm say she wasn't. So...

I think he included Storm because even if he's not a fan of the pairing, he acknowledges that they are still currently involved, and she would definitely be on his mind, especially since BP believed she was dead. It's a way to give him some interior conflict while showing what he's capable of accomplishing in-spite of the grief he's not allowing himself to feel.
Anybody else catch Ironheart in this week's Champions getting emotional over meeting Storm?! That warmed my heart

That's why Storm being a goddess matters. That's why Tchalla being a FREE king matters. That panel says so much.
