I read the Marauders issue. It was lacking in feats but it did have some quality character development showing how respected she is and how diplomatic she can be. Nothing we didn’t already know.
They had a perfect opportunity to have her calm the waves which were clearly bothering Emma but Storm just ignored it

Low key the fanboy in me was like see, he (orlando) just came in here and showed how easy it would have been for 3 people to get rid of that terrigen cloud (it was the same color but on a larger scale), if even needed. No one can ever tell me that wasn't some mandate. I said it then and i will say it now, well played x-team, they played the red headed step child years very well. lol

I loved it, this is an issue i actually think if i was like a collector i would want to collect. I actually did have the thought about Storm maybe doing something about calming the storm and then i thought "for one person." i have been boating many times and sometimes there is nothing better than that rocky water you get sometimes. It seemed like it would be trivial and almost an abuse of power to just calm the sea for that reason imo.

Good issue. Here are my guesses as to where Storms going:
1. To the Stars via sword or something else
2. To the Avengers
3. Her own X-Men team
4. Back to Wakanda
5. Solo all over the globe
I think 1 & 3 have the best odds.

From your mouth. lol. I also loved how if you look at the issue of Cure of the ManThing: X-men it really sets storm's status in the MU which felt good. They had tchalla thank bast. They had thor and storm recognize each other as gods in their own right, thunder and storm. It was very low key subliminal but they cut a clear line imo where she is. this is what SHE brought to the table without the "status" people think she need. This is the storm i want to see, if i want romance i'll buy a romance novel. But again that is just me, the last thing i buy a comic for is romance.
Though that's not to say i can't enjoy it.

[QUOTE=dirtynun;5523351]Yh it was very nice but it would have much impactful if storm was more present in the series. It felt like a sendoff fit for storm but storm was hardly there throughout the series the book was and still is a kate and Emma story. But what saves it is that storm is already held in such reverence that she elevates it's tone and quality the art also helps. Just now hoping that we can get the announcement soon. Also you can't spoil this book there is nothing to spoil.
Please private message me about the man thing and what storm does I am not buying that book so might as well just hear from a fellow fan what our queen did.[/QUOTE]
I feel like Storm was pretty present in the series. Certainly not as much as Kitty and Emma, but she's definitely done way more than Iceman, Pyro, and Bishop. She had three focus issues (#13, #17, #20), a big part in #14-15 for X of Swords, and a big part in the Kitty resurrection storyline, especially #8. Especially given the fact that Duggan has said he was limited with what he could do with Storm while she was shared with the BP office that's pretty good. Compared to Bishop who has had a few good moments, Pyro who has had like three scenes, and Iceman who has done literally nothing in 20 issues, that's pretty good.

you can thank Mr. Coates for the god part! His legacy thrives!

I think Storm will begin her own team. The fact that neither Storm nor Logan are on the upcoming X-Men team is a bit of an obvious absence. I don't know who all will join them but I sense Uncanny's going to get relaunched.

The truth is as I said it wasn't even an issue storm is a very big presence. If she is even cameo. So yh she was integral to the marauders and their biggest gun. and from the data pages a lot of interesting things went down and I am like why am I reading hellfire politics when I can know what happened in angola. How did storm persuade people without storms well we saw one but in what other ways. Why is her dagger game soo highly anticipated what did she do with them. But like emma stated storm doesn't even need them and I mean the omega of omegas carry daggers is ridiculous but that's part of who she is, her quirk. I just love her soo much

Like when she said that I was just floored. Thor us the god of thunder but storm is the god of storm. She was teaching him how to move the storm yo get the effect they needed. I suspect she needs him because he will have no ecological consequence whilst hers will.

Me too. But I agree with jwatson and others that Dugan did an acceptable job with the character. He’s been pretty open about the restrictions he had due to Storm being used by Coates but I think he gave her moments. Especially when you remember this book is really about Kitty and Emma. Storm was never gonna be a strong pick for this team, she’s not locked into the dynamics and history of the Hellfire Club, which is also why the men on the team are suffering too.
But Duggan gave us stuff like the knife fighting, the reverence other characters have for Ororo, and her relationship with Callisto, all of which were welcomed. If we look exclusively at the X-office he’s done some of the strongest work with her even though the bar is in on the floor lol. Can’t say I’ll miss her on the team but he didn’t crap on Ororo the way far too many writers have and that’s good enough knowing that Hickman has more relevant plans for her character. Looking forward to her potential cosmic journey.

I think there is some misunderstanding here. Duggan mentioned they were waiting to tell their stories for storm as a courtesy to coates but everything they wanted to do regarding her was already mapped out when Coates first began writing her. What he was doing in BP didn't impact the story they were going to tell as it already been determined.

There was no misunderstanding that is what duggan said and has been implied before but people were glossing over it. The hudlin deal was still in place and so BP could pull Storm when they wanted. It was even talked about in this thread and glossed over. That is one of the main reasons it annoys me because if the BP office wanted it to work why could they put Storm in crew but not make her own book. But whatever, it's over no need for me to cross that bridge again.

Google i would assume. A lot of the stuff was from articles over the years and deals regarding the BP animation and all that stuff so good luck compiling the research. Sure doesn't matter enough for me to do so, x-books fire now.

So below is my review for both issues (one really isn't a review)
Marauders 20
[spoil] All I can do is smile. This issue was by far my most favorite of all the Marauders issue and it was the perfect send-off story.
The team essentially are all recounting their favorite Storm moments and her importance to the team.
Pyro recounts how Storm was able to save a young mutant Indian girl named Lash without "setting anyone on fire" to do it. She used her knife only (which led to a discussion on how many blades does storm have on her person). She also used her powers to grab Lash energy whip using her powers. That was pretty cute.
Bishop then recounts a memory in Angola where he was able to use Storm’s name only to scare several rebels into standing down. He refers to her as a goddess in this exchange.
Iceman then goes through how she was able to convince Hatemonger to convert from hating mutants through fists and words.
Callisto states she can recall many moments but the one that mattered most was when she fought her during the Crucible where she fought to regain her powers.
Emma's insight was one of the more interesting ones. She mentioned Storms physical rebuke is one that has a lasting effect on the body but also the mind. and though at the end of it all she still offers her hand (allowing grace/forgiveness). It was a very powerful moment.
Kitty's recounts was the funniest. Ororo repairs her nose she had broke early on in the series and stated if kitty didn't like the results she was sure emma knew a great plastic surgeon lol the shade lol.
The dinner ends with it being revealed storm keeps on her 8 blades. Is there a significance to that number? Probably not lol but something im just throwing out there.
Overall it was a wonderful issue and recommend picking it up.[/spoil]
Man-Thing
[spoil] just talking about the storm bits. she and thor work together to disperse the global fear spores. It is here she refers to herself as the Storm God and Ironman states it was through her efforts the stubborn avengers could work alongside her and Magik to save the planet. This I thought was an accurate nod to her diplomatic abilities and highlighted why I thought her characterization in COTA was so off. Her depiction in man thing demonstrates what makes her a great leader[/spoil]

I’m pretty sure Coates took precedence on Storm’s character because he had dibs over Duggan, not because the BP office has some long standing deal that they control her character that lasts after the marriage had ended. The X-books were treading water and wasn’t doing anything of note with the character, Coates was probably like “I wanna give her some BP lovin’ again, won’t take too long”, and never gave her back lol.
But then Hickman comes along and starts charting out a new direction for the X-books and Duggan’s probably thinking “I’ll let Coates finish up his story, shouldn’t take more than an arc before she’s fully mine.” COVID hits, the BP sales are in the toilet, book’s on hiatus, ROX is on the way and Hickman needs Storm back for his story soon.
Hence Marauders #13 and why Storm became more prominent in the book after that issue and XOS. I don’t think Duggan had to be as giving with Storm as he was, but I think out of courtesy as a fellow writer he didn’t wanna force Coates to write her out his story since he was writing her first and she was a major character in the BP solo.

Yupp. I do think it was out of courtesy for what Coates was doing with Storm in BP at the time that they (Duggan and HiX-Man) didn't use her fully, at the time of Dawn of X's inception. They did have certain directions planned apparently for when they were able to use the character but then Covid hit and BP was delayed...I think it was in an AiPT:XMM article with either Duggan or HiX-Man.
