I just realized storm created a mini sun for the planet so it gives light and powers their tech. This mini is seriously mind-blowing! And demonstrated why storm is the strongest weather manipulator ever.
Halle got a lot of flak that a white male or White female actor would never get. Take Catwoman. She was not the only person in Catwoman. Obviously it has a writer, director, and other actors. The movie was critically planned, yet to say she is not good atsming comic book movies bars in this is absurd.
I’m a writer. The script itself had serious flaws. The main villain, played by Sharon Stone was selling plastic surgery treatments that could petrify people like it did her. That’s not the most compelling villain, and that’s why the film was a commercial failure.
As for X-Men? What dramatic acting did the others bring to their roles than Halle supposedly didn’t? Singer nerfed all the female characters and all of the focus was on three white male characters. Wolverine, Xavier, and Magneto.
Storm was just the token Black.
I don’t think any actor could have done that great a job as Storm in those movies, and that’s due to how Singer and Fox handled the franchise. After all Sunspot twice got white washed, and so did Dr. Reyes. So Fox really wanted an all white cast, they stuck on Halle as a token and people want to comply blame her because they didn’t like th character?
Nah it ain't about color cause Brie Larson got dragged for her role as Captain Marvel cause it was just as cringe
Even beyond the script halle had no presence as Storm. I would not believe she was a woman that command the primal forces of the elements. There was no toughness, no bite, it was like pageant storm. And i'm a halle fan too but not every role is for everybody.
I'd take Whoopi Goldberg over halle if all disney/marvel cares about is a handful of named black people.
On the one hand, we could have had Stacey Dash, who was reportedly the other contender for a "name" Black actress in the running at the time. But on the OTHER end of the spectrum, we could have had Angela Bassett, who was considered early on but then considered too old for the cast.
I haven't had the privilege of reading this Thor and Storm title yet, but seeing some posts about it, I'm literally freaking out, we're winning a lot!

Storm is without any life support or anything to indicate she's shrouded in atmosphere, so Storm doesn't need to breathe anymore??
I haven't had the privilege of reading this Thor and Storm title yet, but seeing some posts about it, I'm literally freaking out, we're winning a lot!
We are winning as we should! Like the self sustaining mini sun she created for the planet is what is making me gag sooo much. Like the sheer possibilities with that is endless.
Storm is without any life support or anything to indicate she's shrouded in atmosphere, so Storm doesn't need to breathe anymore??
I don't even know but I think the skrulls had a habitable atmosphere for their camp but the planet itself had no atmosphere. Hence storm creating one..

Imao heard that she was using Odin's strength to accomplish these actual feats because of Thor's speech. How many times will they try to belittle Storm's abilities?
I don't even know but I think the skrulls had a habitable atmosphere for their camp but the planet itself had no atmosphere. Hence storm creating one..
Oh, I get it, although I prefer to think it was a confirmation that she doesn't need to breathe, but her creation of a little star alone is the most important thing!!
Imao heard that she was using Odin's strength to accomplish these actual feats because of Thor's speech. How many times will they try to belittle Storm's abilities?
I say if people feel better thinking a speech equal empowering a woman who said "I summon the full power of the elements." Then in the words of thor "Have at thee." lol
No this is different they are co-workers here.
Ohh I definitely know lol its just random thats all.
We all know eventually Storm will be back with her Wakandan king.
Imao heard that she was using Odin's strength to accomplish these actual feats because of Thor's speech. How many times will they try to belittle Storm's abilities?
It was a figure of speech like "may God be with you" and such since she doubted her capabilities. Case in point she did the same thing again in plant sized xmen. Sans the sun ofcourse.
I didn't expect this, wow.
someone needs to update Storm's feats thread on Comic Vine.
Imao heard that she was using Odin's strength to accomplish these actual feats because of Thor's speech. How many times will they try to belittle Storm's abilities?
lol this logic is so dumb, if odin strength were needed to perform these feats then Thor could have done it on his own.
Storm & Thor story really made my day. Love seeing them team up.
Heh, what a nice little Monday surprise on my way to work! I'm assuming this is canon since no one is saying differently? If so then what a major WIN for Storm! Teaming up with Thor AND highlighting how she is the superior weather manipulator and he recognizes that fact and does not shy way from it or let his ego get in the way. His fans should take notes!
Also, I never thought I'd see Storm modern day Storm pull off a X-men TAS speech. I squealed like a pig when I read that and I fully accept the odd looks I got.
lol this logic is so dumb, if odin strength were needed to perform these feats then Thor could have done it on his own.
Are you really surprised though, lol? You should know by now that when it comes to Storm, all bets are off when it comes to discrediting her accomplishments.
Thinking about that Sun aspect for a moment, could this be another Goddess sighting? I mean clearly the Skrulls were believing in her as their only hope since Thor couldn't do the job. From everything we know so far, her Godhood abilities seem to overlap heavily with her elemental abilities.
Or do you guys think this was strictly her mutant powers at work? Either way, creating a permanently functional sun, even miniature, is one hell of a feat!
Omg I just awoke to this beautiful storm story with thor:
She uses her powers in space instantly
Creates light to power alien technology
Creates atmosphere from nothing on alien planet bringing rainforest crops
Creates light that behaves as sun for planet to provide energy to crops
That was freaking epic I love it!

I think this was goddess storm powered by the faith of thor lol. and albeit im joking a little one may argue this was her mutant power but marvel advertised this as the weather goddess not omega level mutant so im thinking it was goddess sighting.

I took it as they made it very clear it was goddess storm the moment she said "I summon the full power of the elements." also i thought it was a nice touch when she was doubting he called her Storm but when she embraced the goddess he referred to her as windrider. a nice difference there. It shows thor too knows her legacy to come.
Imao heard that she was using Odin's strength to accomplish these actual feats because of Thor's speech. How many times will they try to belittle Storm's abilities?
he said Odin would give her strength and she followed that up by asking her goddess to help her. it was all her power Odin didn't do anything.
Apologies if this was ever mentioned earlier in the thread, its just.....750+ pages and the Storm and Thor talk reminded me of this.....Saladin Ahmed once created a potential Exiles character who was an alternate Storm and Thor's daughter, Thunderstorm, and this was the concept art for her:

I remember this. That's one sexy design. But honestly i think the real beauty in this story was the mentor feeling that came off. At least for me. I could see this duo having like young storm/gambit type adventures. lol
Storm told her that Rachel can't stop her even if she tried. That's when I knew this girl was way over her head. I mean she tried the same thing with Emma toll she was schooled and Emma doesn't have the amount of raw power that storm has. A fight between storm and Rachel would be bad for Rachel.
Madelyne Pryor schooled poor Rachel in like two seconds.
Poor Rachel. Yes. Storm would also school her in two seconds.

My head is still spinning because this is huge! like really really huge! It gives a whole new meaning to the regent of Sol when she can literally generate a self sustaining sun! More of this in xmen red please, thank you!
Storm just did something I don't know she could generate light! Not bio electricity but actual light! Mind blown.
yes babe this is a complete and utter new feat. she not only created light to provide energy for a planet but also atmosphere from nothing. she didn't even do this when she helped terraform Mars.
It would actually fit in canon as happening right before Powers and House of X as that would be the krakoan flower in the pot that we saw Storm carrying.
Yes! Yes! Yes!

FINALLY!!!
And SHE gave an entire planet an atmosphere!
C'mon now

yes absolutely. I also loved how the writer distinguishes their abilities. yes thor can create massive storm but ororo abilities allow for her to create life sustaining weather which includes atmospheres and light that behaves as a sun. truly epic.

I think this proves that she could have teraformed on her own if she really wanted. Like what can't she do magnetic fields? Check, atmosphere from nothing? Check, create a mini star for the planet when there is no nearby star? Check.... Infact it's still no where near the true versatile potential of an omega level weather manipulator. The best is yet to come.
yes absolutely. I also loved how the writer distinguishes their abilities. yes thor can create massive storm but ororo abilities allow for her to create life sustaining weather which includes atmospheres and light that behaves as a sun. truly epic.
Thor is powerful no doubt but his weather abilities are temporary they can't affect existing energy patterns, storm on the other hand can and it is self sustaining too. Even Thor knows this. He is the god of thunder but storm is the goddess of all weather! Big difference.
On another note, I'm kinda hoping that when X-Men Red delves more into the Great Ring of Arakko that we see something like Storm and Lodus Logos becoming friends and him becoming like an ally of hers on the Arakko Council. I just liked the back and forth between them in SWORD #8, I believe it was. When he created that knife and she snatched it out of the air.....it called to mind all the times she and Callisto have done that to each other, and that moment in Marauders when Callisto threw a knife at Storm's face and she caught it and Pyro was like "No wonder we never beat the X-Men when I was in the Brotherhood, these people throw knives at each other's faces for fun!" And its like lol not really, its mostly just Storm and her close friends. Its a bonding thing. And also an expression of trust in both the friend throwing it and that friend trusting that the other has the skill to catch it without harm. A very unconventional sign of trust and appreciation, but then that's Ororo for you.
But anyway, that scene in SWORD just automatically reminded me of that dynamic between Storm and characters like Callisto and Yukio, and made me think that maybe they might build towards that kind of friendship between Storm and that Ring member. And the fact that Storm has this precedent established in her friendships is exactly the kind of thing that makes her such a perfect fit for being Regent of Arakko, because I totally think Arakki mutants probably look at that sorta thing as a very Arakki kinda thing to do.

I have been waiting for a follow up to that scene because even though i initially thought it was deep since i've thought it was deeper so it's good to see someone else thought about that scene as well and it's meaning. For instance the knife in a way show storm what she would fight. We assumed it was her fighting herself but it was Storm fighting a deformed version of herself which is exactly what Tarn tried to turn her into and she prevailed. Also it felt like somehow lodus knew Storm would need that weapon and that knife also turned out to be the very blade Storm shoved into tarn heart.
Logos does very much come off as a Callisto type so i get what you mean.

oh absolutely. this is what she should have done on Mars but it's awesome because now we have a showing where it clearly states she can create an atmosphere from nothing on her own.
and indeed... im curious though if this was omega or goddess. marvel made it a point to advertise this as weather goddess and not omega level mutant. thst little detail makes me think this photon manipulation story with storm was goddess stuff lol.

indeed. Thor recognizing the limitations in his abilities and instantly knowing who to call was very nice. what I found more interesting is that he appeared to know she could do this when she herself was unsure. what else lies beneath the surface of her power????

In one she was trying to destroy life and in the other she was trying to give it.
