ooooh that's a great tip, the dark mode.
Also love the panels you provided as those were some of my faves as well. Stefano really showed up and showed out.
And the petty fun part of me wants to say. "oooook, so Hadari Yaoi translates to 'goddess of the storm." lol

You're welcome. Yes the art was absolutely spectacular.
And a goddess or god can have many names and titles depending on the cultureor region, as well as possess multiple abilities. Venus was also known as Aphrodite by the greeks.

It feels soo good that she is getting acknowledged by the greater marvel writers especially xoffice they have lagged their legs about for sooo long I was about to go whoop them to gather some sense. But it is here her divinity is finally acknowledged and before the posterboy of god heroes thor. The god of thunder whilst storm is he goddess of storms. So basically storm is a divine being with an omega level mutation hence the omegas omega or the god amongst omegas since being an omega is already god tier in of itself.

Yaasssssss Honey!!! Yes!!!
I have to testify for a moment because we storm fans have a come a long freaking way.
Way back when Hudlin first announced that Storm was a potential omega level mutant us fans used this as evidence Storm was an omega mutant. Some fans even claimed she was a real goddess:

Storm fans were called rabid fanboys who took all her upper level feats out of context. Peoosters who thought us fans were crazed pointed to all sorts of showings that lowballed the character. Then there was the omega mutates reveal but even still people said the writer wasn't referring to storm:

Distractors reached out to the writer so that this theory could be debunked. Later on Storm went through more mess with it ultimately resulting in her handing over leadership to Kitty.

It was a dark moment but our MAN Coates got storm and took her to unbelievable heights. He literally made her a goddess!! You would think this would be a happy moment but no people tried to rain on that parade calling it a fanfiction and saying if the xoffices didn't acknowledge it, then it wasn't true. Well fast forward to today. She is now an omega level mutant even called the Omega's Omega. Then we are seeing constant references to her being an actual God. It feels good after 10 plus years of dealing with trolls and even trolling moderators to being validated. To see everything people said was wrong now being true makes this a great period to be a storm fan.
She was ALWAYS A GODDESS. No gimmicks, no retcons, no enhancements, no possessions, no weapon. Just Her. This is why she is one of the greatest marvel heroes to ever exist and why many of the other girls favorites could never sit at the table with her!!!!
-
I'm glad i missed all those battles and i guess it sucks those times were so dark for Storm fans but i can't even pretend i was rescued from anything. The only story i truly hated on the x-side was the mist (but even then i enjoyed Storm and how the x-books were handling it knowing they couldn't get rid of it. well they could but i digress) because it made no sense that anyone in the mu would accept it and guggeheim because it just was going no where fast. The rest of that stuff i don't care what people think but i'm happy Storm fans finally got vindication.

She has always been I remember the statement a late writer once said that comics is basically a white male power fantasy. He is late now but he said this in response to the hate he got for giving storm enough power to affect the silver surfer. He said that if it were thor, wolverine or cap they will rationalize this as the charachter being resourceful or the chatcher being badass. But with storm they could not compute so they hated the writer for it. I have read a lot of battle forums about storm and the tomfoolery that goes on has lead to my hypertension at a very young age. We have idiots saying that human torch is more versatile than storm, that electro is stronger than her that weather wizard is the more powerful weather manipulator. You show them scans of her actually controlling space weather they ignore it it is interestingly maddening. And on top of all this we have threads just created to insult and humiliate storm fans saying they are irrational fanatics whilst glossing over thor, superman and batman fanboys. It is soo beautifully delicious that now storm has soo many omega attached to her title. Like when the official omegas were made public there fanboys will try to rank them and will do everything in their power to low-ball storm within the omega club some go as far as to say she doesn't belong there and that there are there mutants saying iceman is stronger like TF!
But as surely as the Lord I serve lives storm has been crowned by an actually xwriter as the omegas omega, the most powerful avatar of knull including the likes of the god of thunder and co, and the god of storms. She has come soo far and so has her fans and all we can do is go explore the vast cosmos with her omega of omegas abilities because if knull himself is saying she is packing then she is packing! I mean this guy just ripped through sentry and took over celestials he knows his $#@$.

have you been able to read the original Claremont uncanny xmen? if not I would highly recommend it. it really sets the bar high for the current writers and why some fans including myself at times can be more critical regarding her more recent characterizations.
-
I have. I have the DVDs. Ice read at least 95% of all storm and 85% of all xmen stories. Maybe it's because I draw but I try not to put my desires on creators so I try to enjoy their work for what it is rather than what I expect. So I was never looking for proof of anything. I know what I read so peeps could just kick rocks. And I have no financial investment beyond consuming the material so the energy dries up quick to be all "but this or that." Don't like stop buying. I'm simple.

Do you happen to have the quote? The writer you are talking about is Dwayne McDuffie. Many of the black writers did attempt to show her as a powerhouse which was consistent with Claremont. However, many of the xwriters at the time were writing her on this scale:

So when you have so many readers driven by what the xoffices put forth i can see how they respond to McDuffie. However, that said there was truth to his position if this were Thor. Even when he is lowballed it it generally accepted that he is a powerhouse because he is consistently shown as one. That is the part that has been missing from the xoffices. Storm, in many ways, was said to be powerful but was rarely shown by the xoffices as being a powerhouse. However, there seems to definitely be a consistent push to showcase her the big gun as Knull mentioned and as we have seen with constant references to her being a REAL goddess.

That was actually Victor Gischler’s run. He was a mixed bag for Storm (so was Wood though). Gischler shocked me because I tweeted him that I loved the issue where The X-Men fought the Unforgiven (vampires) to get Jubilee back and I thought his handling was fairly decent. He responded back with much appreciation. BUT...this part of the story was crap. Having Storm effected by a taser (lmao) and also having her hurricane winds to slow the approach of the sentinels maxing out at 170 or 180mphs when we all know she’s well exceeded those wind speeds for years prior to that was just craptastic writing.

Storm has always been kind of a glass cannon though. Phenomenal control of the weather with the might of the elements, including cosmic forces. Still physically a relatively normal woman. A very athletic and well trained woman, but not really someone like Thor or any of the supersoldiers who can take a beating.

oh thanks for clarifying boo! I was thinking this was right around that sentinels issue when she created that hurricane thst didn't do anything against those bots which I thought was also wood. but its been so long I need to verify when I make these posts lol.
did u read today's issue?

I'm actually feel kind of better sweet. This issue showed that Duggan can write the Marauders like a team and he can do right by Storm. Not saying that he's ever done her that dirty (loved the crucible issue with Storm and Callisto), but this is certainly the best she's ever come across. It'd probably be pure sweetness if I knew exactly where she was going.

she definitely is a glass cannon but so is characters like Rachel. what affords her the ability to go toe to toe like she did against thor were her tk shields. now in the curious case of storm her powers could very much be utilized in a similar fashion but writers never really showcase her powers being utilized defensively. there were a few notable exceptions including the most recent xmen issue when she used her em field to block Stygian hammer attack:

all in all, she has the ability to use her powers in a way that would take her out of the glass cannon category but writers don't use her abilities creatively like this typically.

Thats fine and I don’t think anyone disagrees with that. It doesn’t justify bad writing though. Can she be hurt by a bullet? Yes. Should a body that channels terrawatts of lightning be hurt a tazer? Yeah, hell no. I like that she is an omega powerhouse with human level durability. Marvel should explore her defensive capabilities like Polaris & Magneto to account for that vulnerability.

Not yet but I will shortly and post my thoughts. I perused the issue last night and will say I LOVED what I saw in Marauders. Duggan has won me over from how I felt when I initially tried the book. I’ve gone back and bought all issues.

1. exactly. I dont think anyone expects her to have thor level durability unless she gets something when in "goddess mode" but that aside any areas where she is lacking there can be addressed defensively by way of her powers.
on her being zapped by the taser could this possible be explained because her body was pierced and was hurt allowing hr to be susceptible to electrical attack akin to when her powers betrayed hurt leading up to her punk phase? I dont think her powers should ever hurt her or when attacks are deployed against hr that are nowhere near as powerful as her own abilities but wanted to put that out there
2. oh wow that is some dedication. this is literally the first issue I bought that I thought was worth paying my coins on lolol. can't wait to hear your thoughts.

What I don’t understand is why they give individual writers so much creative power when it comes to characters. When you have one writer saying one thing and another doing the complete opposite it just creates confusion for fans who would like to have a cohesive story. I mean isn’t that what the editors are for and alternate universes? The original creator/writers work should set a precedent. She was a Goddess and Omega Level mutant from Day 1.

yes yes yes. the problem with that too, to your point, is if a subsequent writer comes along and doesn't like what the previous writer did they can essentially do away it it. its exactly what happened in uncanny. she was first shown capable of controlling solar winds and then leading into the reboot with lobdell (though written by claremont) it was as if she forgot she could control them. she was limited to controlling the winds present from the earth's atmosphere. so I think its also important these writers a similar visions for the character and if that isn't possible editorial has to do better in ensuring characters are appropriately. but maybe these creators thought she was OP? is that fair? I would day hell no.

I LOVE "The Other History of the DC Universe" book by him. All that stuff that we've been talking about regarding Storm's identity and how that would play into her life as a superhero is exactly what Ridley has done with Black Lightning, Katana, and others in that book. Now I'm sad he isn't just writing a Storm book.

I will definitely be getting this until that happens. lol. Loved Juann Cabal's art on all new wolverine. I hope he makes the book about tchalla and reintroducing him into the MU because based on his current solo you would think BP is in a whole other world. Again i'm not a fan of romance in comics so that is the last thing on my mind and that is beyond BP/Storm. If i'm honest the only couples i like in comics were already together by the time i got into comics.

Storm getting taken out by a tazer of all things is pretty BS, glass cannon or no.
I haven't heard a peep of anything X related happening this week, so I'll have to dig around and find out what happened. We were told that big things were coming for Storm about a year ago and its been a whole lot of nothing so far. Here's hoping that changes. I want to see actual character work and not 'look at how awesome she is' kind of thing. Storm knocking people around like that recent X-men issue is fine every now and then, but its not really character work.
I started in the 90s got into through the cartoon but have since read about all of them.
that's the exact same way I got into the x-men lol. I can't believe my fave used to be cyclops before I saw Storm and what she could do
yes yes yes. the problem with that too, to your point, is if a subsequent writer comes along and doesn't like what the previous writer did they can essentially do away it it. its exactly what happened in uncanny. she was first shown capable of controlling solar winds and then leading into the reboot with lobdell (though written by claremont) it was as if she forgot she could control them. she was limited to controlling the winds present from the earth's atmosphere. so I think its also important these writers a similar visions for the character and if that isn't possible editorial has to do better in ensuring characters are appropriately. but maybe these creators thought she was OP? is that fair? I would day hell no.
There’s no such thing as overpowered in a universe with people who can literally bend reality. She’s an OMEGA level mutant. Omega actually comes from the greek alphabet and it is their last letter. In English it’s defined as “the extreme or final part”. So in terms of power it doesn’t get any better than that. Omega Level mutants have no definable limit.
