Created by Claremont and conceived as an eventual love interest for Storm. Claremont also created Kitty Pryde as bisexual and later Rachel Summers as her intended endgame OTP romance. But that had to be relegated to subtext. Just as Yukio and Storm's relationship had to be relegated to subtext after Jim Shooter mandated that no same-gender couples could be depicted in comic books during his tenure at the company.
I wonder how many more characters that Claremont had a hand in had to be relegated to subtext along with their romances. We know that Rachel and Kitty are one, we know Ororo and Yukio are another. Makes one wonder. Oh well, at least they confirmed Kitty now. And I love Storm's relationship with T'Challa and was happy when they [B]finally[/B] did right by it not too long ago.
Also, to the above, it's great that they are expanding upon Storm's powers. The fact that she could essentially control the air around you and change it's humidity and effect your ability to breathe is very scary when you think about it.

If storm can open a hole in the magnetosphere she can open a hole in any force field Magneto may use to keep lightning at bay, as it happened with Lorna at the airport any magnetic circuit can be overcharged, Ororo needs to keep pouring more energy that he is able to menage.
