Since this is apparently Aaron’s baby and Coulson is rising in in-universe prominence; I’m guessing Mephisto is trying to OMD the non-X marvel universe?

Oh wow that's ugly. Oh ew.
They were only contracted to do it for a year. It was always going to be just a one time thing.
For 12 issues and a 13th was added to tie it up. But there is a story that Marvel toyed with the idea of keeping it going, but they would only do so if Jim Lee committed to directly oversee it and continue to take active participation by writing or doing art chores. He declined. So I reckon the offer was made close to the end and that is why James Robinson was roped in to handle the World War 3 issues to wrap it.
What if this is about Ultraverse characters?
Doubt it. Marvel has been itching to do stuff with those characters since, at least, the early to mid 00's. But there are certain legal issues regarding 1. Royalties to creative teams and 2. Something to do with Scott Rosenberg and his contractual standing as a "producer" for the properties until the end of time.
Joey Q had big plans for them. But Marvel just couldn't untangle that mess at the time. Bet the Mouse's legal team could though. Especially if they realised they own characters, but can't use them due to old contracts.
Thanos has slightly more prominent canine teeth. cosmic vampire?
Maybe this is all just staging for a very elaborate April Fool's joke?
These seem so goofy and random :p.
Thanos has slightly more prominent canine teeth. cosmic vampire?
Honestly, I thought they were just trying to make Thanos look more like a gorilla -- King Kong, perhaps. A beast with rings.
Ok where did that come from because it's not included in Marvel's own announcement:

In any case, they look like capes the original Exiles would have bumped into.
It was just a mock-up. https://twitter.com/arthurstacy/status/1352797684000825344
But the point is hilarious. We obviously need to hear more details from Marvel, but right now Heroes Reborn comes off as incredibly uninspiring.
I mean, let's keep it 100% the comic industry has repeatedly done these "the universe resets/jumps ahead for _____ amount of time" settings to tell new stories. Are we forgetting 6 years ago where all the books essentially ended to make room for AU styled Secret Wars stories. Age of X-Man over in the X-Books a couple of years ago.
Only difference here is Marvel opting to recycle an old branding.
But why name it after a failed attempt?
But why name it after a failed attempt?
I'm betting we'll not only get a Heroes Reborn but a Heroes Return. I'm honestly starting to feel really bad for Marvel's readership.
Reed and Ben as SHIELD agents? How utterly boring. Couldn't anyone have thought of something more interesting than that?
Redacted......
Funnily enough me and my brother were talking about character mash ups the other night and a few hours later, the first teaser pops up.
I'll be okay with it if it's some side thing. It seems doubtful at this point it's going to be a big event but I could be wrong.
I don't really have enough information to form an opinion on it. If it's Jason Aaron then fair, I've read little of his stuff, only really Original Sin, War of the Realms and a few issues of Avengers so I can't really tell you there either.
Out of that, I really loved War of the Realms, thought Original Sin was okay and Avengers was pretty bland.
So it could go anyway for me

At least it doesn't seem as random as some of the other ones.
