A bit of a mess. I would have loved more to see The characters being themselves not a mixture of elements taken for a different characters into one (Lady Loki, Amora and Sylvie), maybe this can be the best we can have actually in the MCU. At least on comics is totally different though if this can be to take advantage and seeing in some moment Sylvie Lushton again being back and a follow-up of the continuation of the story that began on Dark Reign: Young Avengers it can be cool. (Avengers Academy was nice but not a step in the right direction and Illuminati better forget this existance.

Recently binged Avengers EMH and loved the character there so I wanna start reading up on Amora but have no idea where to start. What are some introductory stories of her? By the way I'm so bummed the show ended without resolving her story.

Yeah, it was one of the most saddest things ever, and her story deserves more I tried to watch Avengers Assemble and it wasn't the same.
In its moment I tried to recopilate all of her appearances since the 60s (I updated it with last appearances on Strange Academy and Captain Marvel) also I did the same with her younger sister Lorelei and Sylvie Lushton too.
What's the total number of appearances?
Well, with what I posted more or less and counting cameos or illustrations, it's enough. There are characters with a lot more of prominence that can even being considered an excess.
Between the 60s and 80s it was a lot of appearances, between the 90s until now it was reduced to Thor and a few things but basically cameos (some on just a one panel of a book of more than 30 pages) and not good portrayals (though there are a few books in what she was a highlight (Jurgens Thor, for example) considering determined things).

All I have put are her appearances, whether significant or not, part of the story or just a small part, even if it is just a single panel, there are more significant appearances than the others, hence she is an important character although in recent years isn't what it seems so because of the treatment that writers give to her, especially people like Aaron or Matt Fraction and his horrible run in Thor, at least, writers like Simonson, Shooter, Bendis, Ellis or Jurgens ... even Tom DeFalco in its moment (though it was a mess) tried to do something seriously and currently I like what is trying to do Kelly Thompson.

Wow thanks. This will definitely take awhile. Is Sylvie biologically related to Amora? I've heard her powers were given by Loki so it's interesting she chose Enchantress as her alias.

In its moment it was though she can be Amora's daughter but she or at least it is what it was supposed, she was a teenage girl from Broxton, Oklahoma that Loki gave her powers just for his (well, her, in that moment Loki was Lady Loki) own fun, to create messes and chaos, it was even said that to complicate everything, it was a complete creation of a living being believing that she was a human who in turn believed to be an Asgardian goddess.
Personally I prefer the theory that she was a normal Broxton girl who had the misfortune of being inadvertently chosen by Loki for his own amusement, simply because he was into mischief by his very nature.
Perhaps, and even I have a theory of my own, that Loki made the mistake of giving powers to a girl who in the end and through a series of temporary trips, would become and be part of the life of Amora and Lorelei herself being that unknown mother that we have never known and the beginning of the legend of the Enchantress.

Well, I spent some years doing some research, some pages of what I got the info doesn't exist right now, others I just reading and looking on what it can be next appearance. On the wikipedia, doesn't appear all the info, in its moment I found some but lately not every page it was updated.

I like the idea that Loki made a mistake choosing the person and Sylvie took the name Enchantress without his intention. That way she becomes a carrier of the torch on her own accord.

It's a possibility also when Amora sent her to an unknown place of the ten realms(Illuminati 7 - last issue), Amora díd it because she was upset for the fact Sylvie steal her name but not kills her in any way.
My theory it is that regarding it, Sylvie survives on her own (Sylvie is alive an i'm pretty sure of it) and returns to Midgard, meets Amora that began to notice Sylvie resemblance to her mother and befriends her, after this, it would be more interesting to see them as a team and realizes, both Enchantresses, about the true meaning of being The Enchantress, after a few adventures together, Amora loses Sylvie trying to redeem herself and Sylvie goes back in time losing part of her memories and being the woman she has to be after a few years on the past of Asgard marrying what it can be her true soulmate and giving birth of Amora first and then Lorelei.
I just think on it for an untold origin of The Enchantress, at least the first part beginning in the present, continuation in the past. And these time things are more of people like Kang or Immortus (Amora already has a connection with him because of the first appearance of Immortus on the Avengers first issues on the 60s And What Amora did after this, stopping an event with her magic that happened)

True, as I said, it is a possibility that would explain many things and also it would not change too much more than a development towards the characters of Amora and her sister Lorelei more extensive than it is currently, maybe put it on a level similar to Loki but going for another route and forgive me that my previous answer was for other things (sorry about it, because English isn't my first language) such as exposing an idea of a friendly relationship between both Enchantresses and summarizing in a few words something as important as the kinship of Amora, Lorelei and Sylvie, their origin since 1964 (that it was her first appearance) never was explained by any writer, even Stan Lee or Jack Kirby.
The Loki thing, well, he already made a big mistake at the time that for a long time caused him deep resentment and hatred, as was the creation of the Avengers. The mistake of choosing Sylvie, more than a mistake would be a benefit, an advantage because Loki loves chaos, mischief ... even if he can be wrong (if Sylvie could be both sisters's unknown mother) since Amora and Lorelei were allies and even close and intimate friends of Loki and the chemistry between them is important, funny and interesting.
But I really miss Sylvie Lushton in the comics and I would like to know when they make her come back from wherever she was, how could that be, her development, the place where she was sent, her allies, her enemies, her personal growth ... and I wish both Enchantresses would become friends and form an interesting team-up like Batman and Robin, Carol Danvers and Jessica Drew or Kamala Khan, Iron Fist and Power Man, Magik and Kitty Pryde ...
Also on another things, I read Captain Marvel 29, I already forgot it was released this week. It was fun the interactions between Carol and Amora, though it was so short, maybe in issue 30 we will have a bit more of her. This page it's truly hilarious that it would make a lot of memes.

No problem. English isn't my first language either. I love that Amora accepted Carol's request just to defy Strange.

In the issue Carol said Thor will eventually come to take Amora back to her cell. Why is that? Is it something to do with War of the Realms? That's the last big story involving Asgardians right? I haven't read it yet.

No problem too, i'm still learning after a few years trying it
Me too, at least it's better than seeiing her full-villainess, I prefer the anti-hero thing than it.

Yes it was related to War of the Realms event, if you have read Strange Academy 10, you'll see Amora in her cell talking with one of her sons that are actually there for a trip (the blond asgardian twins Alvi and Iric), this was a huge revelation, because Lorelei at this point was the only family she still has.
Personally I have no idea how it can be connected Strange Academy 10 and Captain Marvel 28 (last page)

It watched it and it was very nice, everyone knows how the MCU diverges from comics but sometimes things can be accurate, not the case but I think Sylvie can be guided to the direction of being The Enchantress at last.

Cool we're getting Sylvie in the MCU though she's a bit older to be in Young Avengers right? Maybe they make her a mentor figure for the team.

Actually, yes. On comics, I think she has the same age that Wiccan. It would be weird, though so nice if happen.
If Marvel decides to make another Young Avengers book, I would love to see Sylvie here.

So is MCU Sylvie more Sylvie from 616 or more Amora from 616?
At this rate I’d say she is definitely more Sylvie than Amora. As so far her motivations and actions appear to not be aligned with what the 616 Amora would do.

I have no idea, maybe a mix between both, also I read what Drops of Venus said on the Loki thread and looks like that in episode 3 of Loki, Sylvie Lushton's creators Paul Cornell and Mark Brooks are in the credits.
Probably, also Sylvie Lushton on comics seems to wanted desperately be a hero but has very bad luck on it and finishes aligned with villains when she doesn't consider herself part of them. She can be considered what Scarlet Witch, QuickSilver, Hawkeye and Black Widow were on their beginnings but there is no Captain America who can help Sylvie change right now.

I'm curious how they will synergize comics Sylvie's characters with her MCU version now because the MCU version is more of an amalgamation of Lady Loki and Enchantress/Sylvie. In the comics, Lady Loki was just Loki but different gender, while Sylvie was her own separate character. So I wonder how the comics would reconcile those two characters to resemble more like Sylvie in the TV show.
I guess they don't have to, but Marvel often loves to synergize with their movies. I don't really mind it as long as it isn't a one-to-one cut-paste from the MCU, though there are instances that I don't mind it either. Besides, giving the popularity of these Disney+ shows, Marvel will be foolish to not include some of the more popular aspects into the comics. I totally expect to see Captain America Sam Wilson, Agatha, Mobius, and Monica Rambeau pop again in the coming months.
One way the comics could go about with Sylvie is just to keep her mostly the same. Maybe write her more akin to her in the show, and possibly give her an outfit more closely resembling the show's version. However, what makes it tricky is that Sylvie isn't just Sylvie in the show, she is also essentially Lady Loki as well. The reason why the show gave her that name, and give her powers similar to the Enchantress, was to help differentiate her from guy Loki.
A possible easy solution could just write in a revelation that she was created by Loki. I haven't read any comics with Sylvie in it, so my information could be wrong, but from what I can gather her backstory is either she was a normal girl who was given powers by Loki, OR she was completely made out of thin air by Loki. I guess, either way, they can always retcon to be the former case, and reveal that Loki created her by using a part of himself (maybe a soul or something more creative like that). And then from there, she'll start using powers similar to both the Enchantress and Loki.
Maybe I'm overthinking this, but it's been on my mind since they revealed Lady Loki in the show was going to go by Sylvie in the show.

That would be complex, to begin with, Sylvie Lushton has to return from wherever place Amora sent her since the latter clearly wants to see what she is capable of and that is why she did not kill her at the end of the Illuminati series but sent her away even though she was angry because Sylvie stole her name but encouraged and flattered because someone wanted to be like her, that suddenly Sylvie could be more like her version in the Loki series, it is not something that can be done overnight out of nowhere, Sylvie surely and now it will itself be much stronger and more powerful in addition to being resolutive than she was before and that alone would be enough to develop her after its previous appearances. And then there is the issue since in the comics it did not happen, even discovering that he was the one who changed her, a meeting between the two (Sylvie and Loki).

In that sense I agree with you on your points although I differ, but only on the issue of Mobius and Monica Rambeau, in the case of Captain America Sam Wilson it is already something that we will hardly see again and that of Agatha Harkness, suddenly make her younger and evil it would be absurd.

Because of that, I love Sylvie's comic version but characters should be themselves not different versions to match with the comics. Sylvie Lushton for me is a girl from Broxton, Oklahoma and not simply the creation of Loki or someone who suddenly changes sex and creates a new identity forgetting the previous one, she is someone who clearly has her problems and emotions and an encounter, and Talking to Loki, the current one, can help her find her place in the world as the heroine she originally wanted to be. The people of the show version just take their freedom to do whatever thing they wanted and actually this Sylvie of the Loki series it's the best we can have actually regarding of being the Enchantress if she finishes being it.
A possible easy solution could just write in a revelation that she was created by Loki. That's more or less what I think, I like Sylvie Lushton and I wish she was more related to Amora and perhaps less to Loki (even though he was the one who gave her, her powers because he missed her old ally, possibly and that the fact that something happened to him, it affected Sylvie on various levels as apparently it seemed to happen), after all, she decides to be like Amora because possibly she has seen her several times and likes her style when she was human and not someone who has received powers out of nowhere because someone wanted to have fun at her expense.
With all the things that have happened to Loki since Siege, Sylvie Lushton may have gone through different emotional phases not seen yet.
My idea and theory would be more of a mentor-disciple relationship between Amora and Sylvie, an almost familiar and respectful connection.

I am not a fan of DC's Enchantress. She's a literal entity and that makes her one dimensional. I have the same problem with Doctor Fate. Once he puts on the helmet he's no longer Kent Nelson but a literal god of order and it's hard to write a compelling story with such a character.
