Confirmed, or is that just fan theory?
Confirmed.
It was brought up a bunch of times in the original series, although I don't remember if Teela knows she's adopted or not.
It's in an episode of the cartoon. Sorceress is her mom, and gave her to Man at Arms for Adoption when she was a baby. I can't remember if Teela knows/remembers that he's not her her real Dad, but I could be mis-remembering.
Wasn't it also implied that he was in fact her father, but Man at Arms lost his memory or is keeping quiet about it?

That was in the 2002 series I think.
In the original series they don't specify more than her father was a great man who died fighting for Eternia.

Multiverses do lead to madness...
Well, again, given that link (Kevin's words), and how another certain character wields the sword, its not a leap to think she might wield it herself, even if its briefly. It might even be a way to get her in the snake armor.
Well, as long as she doesn't completely supplant He-Man's relevancy...
Didn't He-Man's toyline out sale Barbie to girls for a few years? Hence why they made the She-Ra show?
My sister was big into He-Man back in the day. So were her friends that had non-conservative parents. Battle Cat and She-Ra and a couple of the others were big to them. The orange mustache guy and I think a green woman.

They did a few episodes dealing with it. Teela was the main focus of both episodes.
Here is the first.

He-man had his own toy aisles during the heart of his fame just as gijoe, transformers and turtles did but he-man had tons of stuff.
Here are two "small" shelfs from the 80s.

Many he-man things from then.

He-man was huge then.
So, here's the thing...
All the rumors everyone heard about what the show is really about, are true.
Out of Kevin Smith's own mouth.
At the 45 minute mark is when he starts talking about Masters of the Universe, and almost immediately confirms the first 10 minutes are basically what we saw in the trailer before it "shifts".
The 49 minute mark is when he says the title refers to Teela and how this is all about Teela's journey. He intimated that she discovers Prince Adam is He-Man, but not from Adam himself, but rather whatever causes this cataclysm.
So, yeah, that's why it wasn't called He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Revelation, its not about him exactly. He's important, obviously, but this is about Teela. My guess is she'll wield the power sword and become...not sure what she'd be called, Teela-Ra?
It's good that Kevin came out with this now. Get whatever potential backlash out the way now so it doesn't overshadow the show.
All the trolls will come out in full force, and I don't think Kevin will be able to take that amount of troll hate. He is used to being loved on line.
Kevin has plenty of experience with online trolls:

It all comes down to execution in the end.

That was pre heart attack Kevin. Since then he is kind of a marshmellow who cries at the drop of a hat. Almost dying changed Kevin big time. He is not the same guy he was back then.
