BLACK PANTHER #4
TA-NEHISI COATES (W) • DANIEL ACUñA (A)
Cover by PAOLO RIVERA
COSMIC GHOST RIDER VS. variant cover by Pasqual Ferry
“THE INTERGALACTIC EMPIRE OF WAKANDA” CONTINUES!
Rebellion among the rebels! When M’Baku rises to lead the Nameless, he’ll advocate for a new strategy in their war against the Empire — one that goes against everything T’Challa believes. But M’Baku’s plan could save lives. And without his mantle, what power does T’Challa have to fight for what he knows is right?

This seems infinitely more interesting than anything coates has done before.
Rise has done better then BP WoW And crew. It has been consistent on all of it's issues as shown on the last page rise 2-6 have all been pretty steady, I think one of the issues saw a bump. So just continue Rise. It's different than what's currently out
I agree that Rise can be a successful ongoing. Marvel just has to commit to it and support it. Give it at least 2 years. I just don't want them to have Evan rush something out there that is substandard.

I'm very curious if they'll explain how T'Challa is in space and on Earth at some point (even if they just establish when he disappeared and when he returned). I no longer expect other people to be careful about a writer's continuity, but this is inter-continuity so it should be a bit tighter.

I definitely am glad we're seeing some Cap/BP team ups under Coates. I was always a fan of their friendship, but in recent years that has sort of been strained.

We're still not 100% sure it's even T'Challa in space though. Granted the Storm visions make it highly lilely it's either him or someone connected to him somehow.

The solicit for #4 implies its a man who was a Black Panther and seems to have his memory back. It could be one of those return from the same point you left regardless of how long you have been gone.
Which if true, would confirm my theory of how hacky it is. lol

Blame it on the Skrulls. That was my theory.

I didn't see that at all from this solicit. There's not any hints that T'Challa isn't T'Challa here (although, of course, we don't know for a fact who he is).

Were you possibly thrown off by the use of the word "The Nameless"? That's the name of all the rebels/workers, iirc.

Few things to discuss today.
Last night /due to the post on here/, I actually watched the MTV music awards. What Chadwick did for that "real hero" was really special. I am so glad he did that. Can you imagine him down at the local barber shop the next time he swings by? That guy is going to be a super hero to everyone in his town, what a special night for a special hero.
Was super glad that Killmonger won the best villain. Thanos was very good, but he did not have as "much to say" as Killmonger did. Killmonger was a far better written character than Thanos was /at least in the movie/. Killmonger's last couple of sentences about; "Bury me in the ocean", gave me shivers! I am "super white" by the way, but I could feel the power of his spoken words. Many cultures have taken slaves to sell after battle. My ancestors took many slaves from England, Ireland, etc. African's also captured slaves as well. This is part of our world's history unfortunately. But, to hear Killmonger touch on the horror of slavery that happened only a few generations ago, it struck a very deep nerve in many that heard what he had to say. Hopefully, we continue to evolve as a race /the human race/, and do everything we can to make all slavery a thing of the distant past.
Lastly, I just finished Hudlin's run. Really, really enjoyed the Skrull story. How could they cancel a comic after that? Looking forward to reading about Shuri in his next arc.

The bolded are what imply 616 Tchalla for me. But I don't know for sure.

Woops, I somehow misread your post to mean the exact opposite of what you said. Carry on... :o
