Not unlikable, just complicated and multi-faceted. I like Coates' portrayal of Wakanda. I'm not interested in an idealized society. I think it's more interesting to see layers to Wakanda that we haven't seen before.
Today's issue was excellent, by the way, one of the best of Coates' run.
This statement tells me you haven't read any BP comics except for Coates.

We're talking pre-Bashenga history here. Obviously the story is meant to have thematic parallel s to real-life colonialism (I mean, this is the week of Thanksgiving), but with the period we'd be talking about (before 8,000 BCE, if Bashenga is still supposed to be 10,000 years ago), and the fact that we're dealing with fantasy creatures, it's more like the history of man in LotR than anything else. It also has some parallel s with Thor: Ragnarok.

More heroic feats need to be done by T'Challa. There should be a means of restoring wakanda pre-flooding and pre-Thanos. The Wakandan gods should have the key to this.

I imagine it'll create some sort of comparison with the Galactic empire they're establishing. Though I'm sure T'Challa will handle things a lot better.

Coates only knows how to write the plight of black people, be it fiction or non-fiction. This is why I will never support any of his writing with MY hard earned money.

Coates has basically become the George Lucas of the Black Panther ongoing series.

It's very telling that Between the World and Me pretty much bounces between making light of all the women in his life and what seems to be a nihilistic view on the diminished value life of black men. He never really had anything that was empowering from black male perspective. It's a shame that he is bringing pretty much the exact same thought in writing Black Panther. This book requires having more of a balanced vision and perspective.

If it pre Bashenga than its pre-Wakanda, so what is the point if this story in a Black Panther comic?
Or is it like the first arc has become? Pointless?

I think the main point seems to be to tell the story of how the gods established their relationship with the people who would eventually become the Wakandans.
Though I suspect there's a secondary function of making a connection between what the Wakandans did in the past and how T'Challa is or will be doing as far as his Galactic Empire. I think there will be a certain moral of the story being told which T'CHalla will learn from so as not to make some of the same mistakes.

I have. I haven't read any that delve into Wakanda quite like Coates has.
I should add, though, that if Coates is someone's first exposure to BP and they enjoy it, the fact that they aren't as well versed in BP as someone else might be doesn't discount their opinion.

I don't think rape camp's, misogyny, Black men vs Black women, stereotypical Africa, a black man in chains and being called a slave and now old Wakandans being colonists is complicated and multi faceted. Priest had a complex Wakanda and made it work. Hudlin's Wakanda was more "utopia" (even then it still wasn't perfect) but it was still complex and multi faceted. What Coates is doing is tearing down Wakanda into a Western stereotypical view of Africa with shade thrown at the title Character. Wakanda has and was never been shown as perfect. Technologically advanced and spiritually advanced, but still had plenty of Issues. There isn't any excuse for Coates contrived racially offensive portrayal of the BP mythos as a whole (yes that includes BP wow and BP Crew where Coates and Co couldn't help themselves but to shade and castrate T'Challa)

My statement wasn't about enjoyment. You said u liked it because it wasn't an idealized society. By that statement I assumed this was the only BP run u read. See Ezyo above for further explanation.

The sooner Coates gets off this book the better.

Yeah.. that Issue was completely BS. The history of Wakanda. Coates Really hates what the BP mythos stand's for and has really gone to great lengths to make Wakanda 'safe' . Completely crap Issue as always. Yes they didn't shade throw on Tchalla, bit the definitely tossed shade on Wakanda itself.

It took ~five pages to ruin a promising comic. He just got too full if himself.
And whoever drew Franklin in the lab should be ashamed of himself. Man looks like he lost 200lbs. lol.
And he better have some greater purpose. I could see if you needed a gamma expert, but there are plenty of scientist in WK.
I mean they literary put intelligent beings on a reservation. How are you supposed to root for WK after that.
