100% NO to Neil Blomkapm. He's a one hit wonder; Elysium was rubbish! And he'd cast that awful actor (who's in both) in the BP movie and I don't want that. Ridley Scott... man, he's lost his edge since Gladiator. That's over 13 years ago! For my money, the most exciting (upcoming) director who is skilled in sci-fi is Duncan Jones. Even Sourcecode (not his script) was very well directed, but Moon was fantastic.
Yeaa gotta agree here. Elysium was OK. District 9 I couldnt really get into. It has a quality that takes you out of the movie.

Could a talented artist start making t-shirts with Black Panther's face logo on it
similar to iron man protrait pic but with Black Panther's face

could be an interesting way to start the black panther's merchandise

I would love Keith David as T'Chaka.

well there goes that. Maybe in the credits Fassbender will be known as aquatic sprite with pointed ears and wings on his feet that has nothing to do with Namor.

Nah it's not like that. Basically Marvel has got some right for namor but not all of it. Similar to the Hulk situation

I love that Black Panther is going to be the voice of reason, just like on Avengers: EMH

Besides, that really will get labelled an Aquaman knockoff. I mean sure they have really different personalities and Namor has flight vs Aquaman Telepathy but I dont see that mattering to the general audience.

ok serious question time?
Who is directing the movie?

If Black Panther kills Ultron right there on the movie screen after all the other Avengers fail to do so I will retract every negative thing I have said about Marvel in this thread!
Including... Victor please have a seat... The entire run of Roy Thomas! ;)
There is no other way to go but all in with Black Panther because clearly he cannot be a sidekick to either Cap or Stark and as Boseman said T'challa is his own man!
As it settles in with me that Chiwetel will not be the Black Panther I am starting to agree with the Boseman choice just like Majestic having Shuri grow on him over time!
The starting quarterback has been named and it's time for the team to rally around in support of that choice and embrace it!
I'm just glad it's not one of those random rappers with Marvel trying to get the Hip Hop vote to sell more of the soundtrack than the actual movie itself!
I'm not sure if I agree with that date for the release of the movie because I believe this has summer popcorn blockbuster written all over it but we will see as the time gets closer if they adjust the dates accordingly to the responses of focus groups prescreening the movie with likes or dislikes!
Once they quickly troubleshoot the controversial name (Black Panther Party) and deal straight up with the haters that will on cue attack this as it moves forward Marvel needs to follow up with a true show of support... Placing hm between the stars that play Ironman and Captain America is a great start and shows trust in the overall decision!
Having Downey Jr. introduce him is a subtle move that already boosts the image of Black Panther as a welcome addition making fans have to fall in line and accept this too even if by default!
Considering what's going on with Hudlin hanging with Halle and Djimon it probably means that Djimon will play T'chaka but I'm pretty sure that they won't match Halle up with the much younger Boseman so perhaps she is Nyomi or Ramonda his mother or adopted mother... Storm would be a longshot considering that Fox owns those rights!
Lupita N'yongo... Gone and get up in there as soon as you are on break from filming Star Wars as Shuri, Monica Lynne or hopefully Malice!
Chadwick Boseman... BRO bring that A-game and never look back!!!
RLAAMJR... I am right here I disappeared off the radar because I got ba.... OOPS I mean I had to handle some family business! (smile)

HOORAY T'Challa made it. Shout out to the creators, the writers and the fans

Chiwetel could still be T'chaka

With Hudlin as producer.
District 9 was one of the best Science Fiction movies I've seen in years , but I'm not sure that is the dude
you want to go to for a evenhanded depiction of Africans. District 9 was Blood Diamond-esq in its zeal to depict Africans only as wild eyed militamen/ soldiers.
Marvel isn't paying Ridley Scott the money he'd ask for to do a project like this.
Proyas and Hudlin are right up Marvel's alley: guys who have experience with genre flicks but not yet commading the big bucks as directors.
I'm surprised Marvel hasn't reached out to Robert Rodriguez yet for one of these films.

Bro, where the frak have you been.
You and Anthony Shaw are literally the only reason I've popped into this thread to say welcome back as I'd decided to take a permanent hiatus.
I've definitely missed reading your posts.
It's good to have you back.

If Hudlin directs then the opening arc of his out of continuity sequence featuring Wakanda kicking butt for 10,000 years strong should be the way to go!
Hudlin's strength is in cinema more than comic book writing and he can make the points he wanted to make without speaking a word!
Andy Serkis as Klaw is just creepy enough to work and it also brings in fans that will be anxious to see him live and in person than just a cgi character's motion capture likeness!
Hey Reggie here's your Reverend Achebe right here... Now go pick up your Academy Award!

Welcome back.
Boseman is the right guy. Has a back ground in sports and boxing. Is around 6 feet. Has the right frame to get jacked. I agree, Shuri needs to be in the movie because WoC need to have something out there. But I think Monica R is a gold mine that Marvel needs to dig. Monica should be MCU "Storm". Her powerset visually would be something.
Capt. 3 is the right sort of movie to have with Black Panther. So this gives me hope. Capt 2 was great.
-
RLAAMJR... I couldn't play T'challa because I am too set in my ways to follow instructions from Hollywood with a straight face so Boseman was the best choice for all things considered but thanks for the vote of confidence though!
Majestic... I got banned for the first time at CBR right around the time something came up in the family so I had to handle some personal matters and laid low for a good minute!
Plus I was sick thinking that Black Panther was never going to make it to the big screen as other movies were getting the green light so I let my BP statues collect dust on my desk top... I have not polished those things in months but now the windex is coming out!
The only reason I TROLLED here for so long was for the movie and now that the pressure from DC's Cyborg upstaged them Marvel had to go in with Black Panther or else...
Stan Lee was not getting any younger so it seems that he will still be around to see his co-creation put into live action soon and prepare for his cameo!
Does this mean that everything will be alright now that the movie is on it's way... As B-Swizzy would say perhaps or perhaps not!
As long as there are no blockers in the way things should go fine as movies scripts work on three act parts and Black Panther is being put right in the thick of things making it hard to marginalize him especially after an intro at Disney's El Capitan Theater by Robert Downey Jr. himself!
Seriously I was expecting them to announce Black Panther at some card table backlot convention full of cigar smoke in a rough part of town to gain T'challa some street cred!
I visualized my alternate pick Chiwetel at a broke down comic shop in upstate boondocks trying to field questions from clueless soccer moms worried more about parking than who he was playing in a movie!
I still hold some of my previous views but all I really ever wanted was the cinematic treatment and now that we are there I say get on with it and be at peace with the results!
Chadwick will need our support both financially and emotionally because he will face some opposition going forward with a character that we all know is problematic within this industry... If I could buy advanced tickets I would buy dozens of them to support this!
At some point he may start posting on Twitter or other social media and the real TROLLS may get after him so he needs to be on his toes more-so than he ever was for Jackie Robinson or James Brown biopics!
It's good to be back but now the game has changed and we must readjust our focus from here on out...

Maybe pressure to announce it but they obviously had this planned for a long time since they already have a lead (they stilldon't have a lead for Strange) and they plan on BP showing up in Cap 3.
This has been inthe plans for a long time. DC only pressured Marvel to release their whole schedule.

I was at the event in LA, it was so cool! The moment I saw the costume I freaked. It looks so good, they even gave us a poster of it. I need to find a place for it. Its crazy, I wa sso close to the stage, I did not even think the stars would be comingvout. Needless to say, this got me excited for Black Panther and has made me want to read some stuff with him. Smoov-E...
Scroll down this link and see Halle and Djimon all up close and personal and then check Hudlin's hint about them meeting with the Russo Brothers (Makers of Captain America: The Winter Soldier)

Hmmmmmmm... That's peculiar!
Kevin Feige also name dropped Hudlin in relation to Black Panther... Curious!
Anywho...
How you doing Smoove-E... It's all good over here!
Speaking of Black Panther, Feige was then asked if we'll see Boseman as T'Challa before his appear in Captain America: Civil War...perhaps in Avengers: Age of Ultron. We will meet him for the first time in Civil War, in costume," he reassured.
Marvel was getting bad press. Who really knows how much of this is PR and forced forward. DC was announcing stuff like Static, non white JLA members and WW and then movies, and marvel was getting killed media wise. So D.C did indeed force their hand one way or the other. Otherwise, they would have did that at the SDCC and totally overshadowed D.C period. JMO.

No Words I can Say Today Can Put Justice to THIS EPIC NEWS Today for Black Panther!!! :D

Welcome to the thread Power Torch.
Essential Black Panther reading would be Christopher Priest, Reginald Hudlin, Don McGregor and David Liss.
The Power arc of Jonathan Maberry's Black Panther make for good reading but avoid Doomwar as if your life and sanity depend on it.
Honorable mention goes to Dwayne McDuffie's brief stint as writer on the Fantastic Four which featured T'Challa and Ororo tanding in for Reed and Sue Richards.
