Once they go rid of that stupid "Paris Hilton with anger issues" Shuri, we got a much better character because she matured. I don't see any roblem with QDJ having a prominent position within the Royal Family. Leader of the Midnight Angels maybe.
Am I the only who didn't read the Paris Hilton angle thing? Did Hudlin write it, or was that featured in another book?

That was Johnathan Maberry in "Klaws of the Panther" Don't read it.

It was a side story in the "Heroic Age" Introduction comic. They say she logged more tabloid time than Paris and Lindsey combined. She was doing some partying in Hudlin's run as a way to cope with her BF dying, but it was nothing like how Maberry established.
Yea but Monica Lynne is such a boring Character, honestly i would rather see T'Challa with someone Formidable in her own right, Wakanda is a warrior nation and its queen doesn't need to be a "Damsel in distress" for him to have to constantly save, and maybe it was just how Priest presented her, but she was just a ungrateful and extremely annoying in that run, to the point where it was like why is she even present.
Exactly my problem with her being his love interest. Unless they revamped her or as the story goes on, she learns how to defend herself ala QDJ, Monica Lynne needed to be rescued almost every time gets redundant after a while.
And to be honest, I always felt that T'Challa could do better, for some reason. Even in the instances that him and Monica were well-written together.

...it all makes sense now. smh.

What was your issue with her? I really liked her as a character, especially when her and Ross go together, they brought great comedy to the run, especially when you first meet her and she convinces the hulk to go clubbing. Also she had her uses, she was apart of the Jabari tribe which connected her to M'Baku and T'Challa kinda used her as a way to get back at M'Baku, granted it was a low blow but there was some interesting backstory and potential for her, and she was just a pretty cool Dora.
I hate the character as a whole. Hated every word that was on panel. Waste of time and I wish she was never created.
Character irritates me to no end.
I think if they showed a more mature QDJ like what they did with Shuri, then it would work for her.
I think QDJ came across as very mature for her age. She definitely seemed more mature than Shuri was initially (pre-civil war).
I think a lot of folks sleep on how QDJ was developed as a character over the run. They remember his wisecracking moments but forget about her journey of discovering her true ancestry, finding love, and challenging the old ways of Wakanda and even challenging T'Challa to be a better person.

You know, a story of the Priest run from QDJ's perspective would actually be quite interesting. A different angle from Ross' take.

Yea she was a very useless character, she is basically a cookie cutter character that wasn't anything special in terms of back story or really any potential. Having his love interest be a hero or atleast a very capable fighter means that there is less of this "Kidnap the damsel" and more power couples kicking ass together

She certainly didn't act her age I agree.
You joke, but honestly... this has some legs.
I am actually serious. They both have a strong sense of tradition and protect their people fiercely. Given that M'Baku is more eccentric and well... evilish.
Plus it would be a fun rom-com with both of them driving T'Challa crazy with their PDA.
Though I don't necessarily want Shuri and M'Baku to date or anything... I do sort of like the idea of a hero and villain having a sort of romantic relationship which they can't act upon before of their different stations in life or whatever.
And it would add another layer to M'Baku already being a close friend to T'Challa despite being enemies.
Thor has Enchantress, so I can totally see Shuri finding something to like about M'Baku, just with less obsessive desires.
If Taku and Venomm can find something to like about one another (such as reading poetry) then surely these two can. Such as talking about how absentminded T'Challa can be about Wakanda.
I'd pair her up with Tom Foster, Bill Foster's(Goliath) nephew. He was made an honorary Wakandan during Hudlin's run I believe.
Ah, that sounds cool! A lot better than the Rhodey idea to be honest >_>;;

That.. would of also been amazing as well, Infact i think that would be a good way to write a BP story to keep him as that pragmatic enigma we know and love form his run. Have his supporting cast narrate the stories kinda how Ross did, maybe they could do it to a lesser extent so that it doesn't feel like he is a question his own book, but it will allow for him to have a mysterious side to him that everyone, the reader included, doesn't quite know what he is thinking.

I personally thought it worked to great effect in Hudlin's run (and I think it works for at least the first part of the movie too). It added so much mystique to the character when he wasn't the readers POV.

Im assuming you meant Priest's run? Hudlin never really had anyone narrate for T'Challa, in Hudlins run, we saw less of the pragmatic enigma 2 steps ahead of you BP, and more of the Hardcore, badass taking down A-list heroes and villains alike Bp. He was still pragmatic but he was always very direct in his approach of situations.
