He quit twitter, is writing another book, i think he is teaching atta college now
Wonder if hes gonna be able to do his various FB, YT, podcast promotional stuff for S2 and Crew? Let alone BP Atlantic articles
****, that explains the drop off in sales right there. Twitter followers are a fickle bunch smh
Whole time i was thinkin they were an imaginary figment manifested bc ppl couldnt' wrap they heads around BP ever generating that type of interest from comic book fans despite the unprecedented hype job promotion from hickman's run, secret wars deuce, movies and not having a true mytho solo in 8 years...
but i see it really was about the tweets :(
That's OK. Marvel will just over-ship issue #1 so it looks like a bonafide hit.

I was under the assumption that Black Panther main was still still around 75,000 issues as the reason why they were launching a third book, but looking back at the December Sales that's actually not the case:

Black Panther: World of Wakanda (2) - 45,009
Black Panther (9) - 39,123
Working with the assumption that the two books are sharing many of their readers (and perhaps that WOW is attracting new or lapsed readers curious about the focus on the Dora Milaje), then this is a pretty bad (but somewhat typical) drop for Black Panther from the initial issue selling 253,259. Coates seems to be an office favorite but you don't get three books likely to sell under 50,000* for one franchise if they weren't looking at the long term.
I think they're doing all these books with an acceptance of declining sales with the hopes they can sell them on as "essential" TBPs when the movie comes out.
*First issue Panther sold 253,259 while first issue WOW sold 57,073 after 8 issues of Panther, so it's likely this third book will sell under 55,000 just based on Panther readership fatigue.
When a character is a movie oropery, like T'Challa or Captain Marvel, other criteria besides sales numbers begin entering into the question of their usage. Essential marvel will ram Carol and T'Challa down people's throats, sales be damned. Though at this point they're still likely happy with BP's sales regardless.

Something that I just came across, that would be an awesome thing to hit the MA with:
And when this war is over, when you have a homeland free from humans, what do you think it's gonna to be like? Do you know? Have you thought about it? Have you given any consideration because you're very close to getting what you want. What's it gonna be like? Paint me a picture. Are you gonna be living in houses? Do you want people to go to work? Will there be holidays? Oh, will there be music? Do you think people will be allowed to play violins? Who's going to make the violins? Well? Oh, you don't actually know, do you? Because like every other tantruming child in history, Bonnie, you don't know what you want. So let me ask you a question about this brave new world of yours: When you've killed all the bad guys, and it's all perfect, and just, and fair, when you have finally got it exactly the way you want it, what are you going to do with the people like you? The troublemakers. How are you going to protect your glorious revolution from the next one?
Ha ha ha. My LBC marking Wow #3 as new this week cause they have so many extra copies.
Naw itll open far north of wow
Wow had a neophyte writer no one cared about coupledvwith being about a 2 characters no one but hardcore bp or MA fans care about at all. The might be the least known characters to get a book about them in a grip.
Crew has brand recognition, Coates, and is actually anchored by black panther, netflix cage and misty, and Storm. Its pulling from different population of fans.
Wow just pulled from tge same tnc run fans, but onlyba subset of them.
Bo WOW will forever be branded as the biggest waste of BP potential next to Coates focusing on nobodies that gave stereotypical sappy teen love story, with Zero depth, or interesting qualities. And ruin a good opportunity to show what Shuri was doing during TRO as well as being able to take the line Hickman teased about and expand on it. BP wow can and will fade off to nothingness

Yes and no. It'll sell less than Black Panther. However, it might sell better than World of Wakanda because it can draw Luke Cage fans, Storm fans, Misty Knight fans, etc.

Since he turns in a year's worth of scripts at once, he can then take a break for an entire year to focus on other things.

Were they free copies? If not, I wouldn't laugh about that. I always feel bad when a local shop over-orders since that's money they'll have to eat.

See this is the type of stuff that should of been going on. This run should of been about showcasing WHY Wakanda has stuck with a monarch and how Tchalla restores the peoples faith in it. Instead of asking Why they have an old form of government then dismantling it and showing Only the negatives with the excuse of "We are getting the citizens side of the story, we already got Tchallas". That is right there that quote should of been dropped in them (by Tchalla not Shuri)

Im laughing at marvel. I would say free. My LBC only orders in small numbers. Maybe 4 or 5 more than the amount they need for pull boxes. There are a lot of copies of WoW. They don't like keeping large inventory.

I don't. Because they do it to Batman and Deadpool and others all the time. While they leave bigger piles of unsold books than Black Panther and especially Moon Girl ever could-no one goes off about it.
